I must say that I totally agree with the article. Star Fox needs to focus on it's core, but rail shoot em ups are a dying breed. We need a Star Fox that includes more modern a forumula, with stuff like ship upgrades and full scale battle. Possibly the ability to play as a normal Cornerian pilot in a basic Cornerian interceptor. But, I think I'll let you guys read the article before I go into it more. Great article.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

I concur with your agreement with the article. Star Fox needs to have a "Prime", so to speak. Star Fox, if it were to have a modern spin on it, still needs to focus mainly on vehicular combat. Emily, while misunderstanding the fanbase, did bring up a great point, and idea on how to fix the series. Both are great articles.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

I read the article and the comments that followed. I gotta say, I'd love to see a Star Fox game that lets us take control of that beast of a carrier that is the Great Fox for a mission or two. We know it's combat capable; we see it fire on a few asteroids in 64.

But sadly, I think Command did kill off the series, and not just from the fact that it has no real ending. The last comment on that page sums it up pretty well; the storywriting was terrible (to the point where even I skip the cutscenes in repeat playthroughs to try and beat my high score), they turned Krystal into practically the polar opposite of what she was in Adventures and Assault, and it was just all around terrible EXCEPT in the gameplay department.

What I'd like to see is more of what made Assault's story enjoyable, really. I dunno if any of you thought much of it, but really pay attention to what the Aparoids did. Everything from Star Fox's history was tainted by the Aparoids. Corneria got wrecked pretty hard, General Pepper nearly got assimilated, Sauria's population was hit pretty hard, Star Wolf got wrecked enough to actually HELP Fox and company deal with the threat, Pigma was completely assimilated, Oikonny got wrecked, heck, even the Great Fox was totally trashed in a last ditch effort to get to the queen. The Aparoids did a lot of damage, and probably was more successful in their takeover of the Lylat System than Andross ever was.

From what I hear, Assault seems to have had a good story. And I really want to play it because of that aspect along with the multi-player.

"General Pepper nearly got assimilated"

That somehow seems super entertaining, funny, and yet horrible at the same time. What would Corneria do without Pepper? Would Bill become the next General? (where is he in assualt anyways? probably defending Zoness, that's my guess as to why nothing is said about that planet in Assault. And I guess that Macbeth being the main army supply base, but not Venom's capital made it not a target desired by Apariods, and then if they only sent a small force that Macbeth with it's heavy military could wipe em out anyways?)

But I know what your talking about when it comes to the Apariods. Some games don't need a bunch of screen time for cutscenes to have great stories. It's just like Bomberman 64. It has a good story, not because of what happens in the stories, but because of how the minibosses all act, and the thought behind why Altair took each planet that he took. ie: red mountain for mining, Blue resort for a human populace to make into his army. Green garden for ancient secrets of magic.

Assualt probably has an even better story though that BM64.

One problem that I have is her talking of Star Fox 2.

Nintendo should have TOTALLY sold that game!

If they did, true, it would not have been the first of it's kind, BUT, it would have been revolutionary for the series, plus, it would have been Nintedoes match to other games like it.

I don't know about you guys, but I love how out of the box Star Fox 2 is. In fact, Nintendo needs to take a look at this game, and how out of the box it is, and then use that as inspiration to make a more realistic Star Fox title. (only this time, let us fight WITH Corneria instead of FOR Corneria.)

ONe complaint that I have with a lot serieses, is their unwilling ness to expand.

I added Roymar, the Dealth, Seulbia (although I haven't shown you much of that place yet) Qumra, etc.

People like expansion, and especially new planets. Assault had us go outside the Lylat system, Why don't we make more stuff out there?

Of course, we should never forget the base created for the series with Lylat, if we introduce new places.

One more thing that I'd like to point out, is that Star Fox has generally pretty good vehicle design. Particularly in the N64 era. The Arwing and Landmaster looks great. So do the Green Eagles.

I concur as well. Although I've never play Prime. Star Fox could do well, it has pretty good vehicle design. Check out the Landmaster and those Green Eagles.
