When I had my 2nd PSP, I used to go out and buy one or two games per week. Because of this, it came to a point where I had so many games, that I didn't know what to buy anymore. Every week, I would go to Gamestop and search the PSP shelves. All the games that they had were either mot interesting enough, or I had them. I did see this game on the shelf, it did look interesting, but I thought I would not like it. I saw this game every time I went to Gamestop, but one day I read that this game was one of the best selling games in PSP history, so I finally decided to get it and I was not disappointed.
At first I thought the graphics would be bad considering it was a PSP game and wasn't exactly new. I was wrong though, the graphics looked state of the art and looked as though they could beat the graphics of most PS3 games. The huge maps are very detailed, the mountains and jungles look beautiful, and the monsters look horrifyingly realistic. For the graphics, I give this game a 9 out of 10.
The sound Is great as well. You can hear various noises as you are lurking in the mountains such as monsters screeching and creeping up on you. Basically everything you can think of has a sound in this game, and the music is good and in some scenes, the music can make you laugh. For the sound, I give this game an 8 out of 10.
The story is simple, you are rescued in the mountains and you are brought down to a small village where you become a hunter. First, you train and learn the basics, and then you go out and complete all sorts of various quests from the residents of the village. To progress throughout the game, you need to learn how to cook, hunt monsters, fish, mine, gather, combine items, catch bugs, and more. For the overall story I give this game an 7 out of 10.
Next we have the addictiveness, which is something worth talking about. The quests are fun and they test your skills as a hunter. It is fun to hunt and do all the things that I mentioned before and the best part is that you can do each quest over and over again to receive points, money, and items. This game will hook you and I give it a grade of 9 out of 10.
There is a lot of depth to this game. In addition to the village and your personal farm, there are multiple regions located outside of the village for you to explore and each region has multiple different locations with different monsters, items, and environments. For the depth, I am going to give this game a 9 out of 10.
Ah, the difficulty, this is probably one of the toughest games that I have ever played. However, just because it is difficult, does not mean it's bad, it's still one of the most fun games you can play. There are some quests that you will finish on the first try, but then there are some, such as when you battle boss monsters, that will take a lot of patience. It took me about 4 hours to beat the boss and I must have dies at least 10 times. For the difficulty, I am going to give this game an 8.
When it comes to the overall game, don't let the difficulty fool you, the game is very fun and addicting, and it will make you laugh on occasion. I am going to give this game a grade I believe it deserves, a 9.
