Is Mega Man X3 (Zero Hack) mavericks giving you trouble? In this guide I"m going to show you how to beat the 8 mavericks and get to the fortress stages. This is a hack of the second greatest X game ever. X2 and X3 are the best X games in my opinion.  I will also be offering a difficulty analysis on a scale 1-10.
Difficulty Scale
1-2 Easy
3 Slightly difficult
4-5 Moderate difficulty
6-7 Difficult
8-10 Very Difficult

I also recommend this order in dealing with the mavericks. However, this is only a suggestion. If a maverick is giving you trouble than try another one. So, you can find your own order. But, here is my order that I suggest
Blizzard Buffalo
Toxic Seahorse
Tunnel Rhino
Volt Catfish
Crush Craw-fish
Neon Tiger
Gravity Beetle
Blast Hornet

Now there are some important  notes to go over in this game.
First of all, you will start the game off as X and have to use him for the intro stage.
To get Zero when you start a stage just call him in and you can play as Zero the rest of the way
If you do not want to use Zero you can still play this game all the way as X.
To use the other mechanical armors in this stage you have to get the chip in Blast Hornets stage. I show you how to get it under Blast Hornet's stage walk through

Intro Stage (difficulty 3/10)
After a cut scene of X and Zero shooting down bug copters, just head right.  Take out the two cannons and then the wall cannon on the walls. Next, head down. Repeat what you did in the first room, because the second room has the same enemies. The next room is just a cut scene. X sees a hunter, whose name is Mac, and ask him how it is going. Mac fires at X stunning him. Mac tells X that is now a member of Doppler's Army and that X will make a fine addition. X is then carried away. Zero teleports in to continue the mission. Zero will have to deal with two new enemies. A copter enemy and a gunner, which can also fire bullets at you as well as missiles. If you shoot the propeller of the copter enemy the flames will shoot out at you, so be sure to shoot at the copter enemy. Also, watch out for the falling ceilings as well. After climbing a few ladders and dealing with gunners you will have to climb a shaft. First start on the left side of the shaft, then jump to the right, and back to the left. The reason you want to do this is because an enemy will be dropping mace balls on you. Mac Battle (difficulty 2/10) this guy is not a problem. The only real danger is he will jump and spray you will bullets. Just shoot him with charged shots. A charged Saber from Zero takes him out in one hit. Head up and shoot the platform holding X. Now, Zero will teleport out and X is used to continue the stage.  All X has to do is climb up to the boss gate. Giant Mechanical Maverick (difficulty 3/10) this guy is big but he is not too bad. All he will do is slam his hands to were you are, and create gaps in the roof. Just simply used charge shots to his head and he goes down quick. Difficulty Analysis okay this stage is not too bad. The only threats here are the enemy placement and mace balls being dropped on you. Mac is very easy as his main threat is just the spray attack. The giant maverick can be a little more of a challenge because he can hit you with his giant fists. Other than that this is not too bad of a stage

Blizzard Buffalo Stage (difficulty 3/10)
Welcome to a winter wonderland and enjoy the music. Okay, if you want to play as Zero the rest of the way, just call him in. Unlike, the original game if you die as Zero, you do not lose him the rest of the game. In fact, you can continue to play as Zero. So here we go. You will notice the floor is covered with ice and you will slide. If you start to slide just jump to stop sliding. The first enemy you will meet is a copter cannon enemy. The copter cannons just pelt you with missiles so get rid of them quickly. Climb up a ladder and you will see lots of ice blocks. The Ice blocks can be broken with the drill weapon. Be sure to come back here with it and destroy the blocks to get a heart tank. You will slide down a slope, but it has death spikes on it. I find it best just to do a dash jump here to clear the spikes. Fall down the shaft and take out the cannons. Next just go down the ice slope no death spikes here just fall down. The next room has death spikes and a new enemy. The enemy is a rock enemy if you do not kill it right away it reforms. A charged shot will take them out quickly. You will see a ladder heading upwards. When Vile appears you can head down and taken to a room were you can fight Vile. But until then just climb a few ladders. Now for a hectic room and the hardest room of this stage. You have robots that shoot ice at you, and sometimes they will be on snow mobiles freezing you. In addition, you have numbers copter cannon enemies. What, you want to do is take out the enemies you need too and get on the highway. Once you are at the end do a dash jump to get to a high room. Dr. Light will give you the leg upgrade now you can dash up. Head back to were you first started the room and you will see a sub tank. There are two ways to get the sub tank. The first is to dash as Zero up there and get it. Second, you can call X in and let him dash upwards to get it. Then repeat and head right to Buffalo's gate. Blizzard Buffalo (difficulty 2/10) Blizzard Buffalo is pretty simple to beat. Climb the wall let him ram it dash and then fire at him. His only two major attacks are if he catches you he will ram you into the wall. Second, he will fire an ice wave at you. If you get trapped hit dash to get out. Just mainly climb the wall avoid his ice he throws at you and blast him. He goes down quickly. The weapon you get is Frost Shield. Difficulty Analysis this stage is not too bad. The only problem is the room with all the enemies in it. Dealing with the cannon copters and the ice robots will make you lose health quickly if you are not careful. Blizzard Buffalo only has two attacks that do a lot of damage. However they can be easily avoided so he is not really a problem.

Toxic Seahorse Stage (difficulty 3/10)
After enjoying a winter wonderland we are going to the sewer ugh.  The first enemy you will see is a giant robot. Do not worry a charged shot and they go down with no problem. So proceed and take them out. Head down and take out the cannon enemies. Now, you will come across a gap with green stuff (sewer) falling down. Dash and climb up do not worry the sewer will not hurt you. Climbing up the wall is not a problem all that is there is copter enemies and cannons. Eventually you will get tot he top were you need to get off. However, if you climb upwards past the get off point you will get a heart tank. Now you will see a shaft but if you have a few of he mechanical armor suits you can use them here.  Just head to the right get on the X support grid to chose your mechanical suit. The one to use is the P one if you have it as it is can fire torpedoes and take out the fans, which are creating the underwater current. Otherwise, just jump into the water. The new enemy here is robot turtles. Shoot the turtles and their shells will float up. Now, you will also notice a the path branching up. If you take the top one be sure to charge the frost shield weapon up (you will need the super charger part to do this). The frost shield under water will create a glacier quickly get on it and ride it to the top. Presto, you can use the glacier as a platform to dash upwards and get a mechanical armor part. If you take the lower path all that is there is death spikes and turtles. Eventually, you will have to face the stage's mini boss a squid . The squid just fires missiles at you take them out and hit the squid with charged shots. The next room will cause the water drain out and all you need to do is climb up. The only enemy here is wall cannons that you saw in the intro stage.  Next, just take out gunner enemies and head for the gate. Toxic Seahorse (difficulty 2/10) Toxic sea horse is easy to deal with. The only attack you have to worry about is his Acid Bursts. Take him out with Frost Shield. The weapon you get from this battle is Acid Bursts. Difficulty Analysis this stage is not too bad to be honest. The only threats are the enemy placement and the underwater segment. Other than that, this stage is pretty straight forward. Toxic Seahorse is not so bad either. Really all he can do is throw acid at you, but he is slow so its not much of a threat.

Cut Scene
Doppler notices how Zero and X are powerful. He remarks how they defeated his master twice. Yes, folks he is referring to Sigma. Did you really expect anyone else? He summons Byte and Bit as well as Vile to destroy Zero or X.

Bit (difficulty 6/10)
Bit will appear after two mavericks are defeated. This guy can be a problem. He has several attacks. First he throws a laser ball at you that sticks around. Do not get hit by that because it will stun you. Second he dashes around the room a lot. I find it best to hit him with charged shots. Once, you get his health down to 75% use the Frost Shield on him. The first Shield destroys him for good. If you do not hit him with Frost Shield he retreats. He even taunts you saying he will be back.

Byte (difficulty 5/10)
Byte appears after 6 mavericks have been defeated. Byte is big and huge. His main attack is to throw you around the room with his long arms. He also will ram the wall knocking you down if you decide to climb up. However he is real weak to the drill weapon. In fact if you hit him with the drill weapon he is gone for good.

Vile (difficulty 7/10)
I do not recommend fighting this guy till after Volt Catfish has been defeated. You have to go to a robot factor. If Volt has been killed the elevators in Vile's stage works. Vile's fight has three phases to it. The first phase is his mechanical armor charge up and hit it. Also use Ray Splash if you have it. Second phase, is Vile himself. He fires bullets at you and will throw fire at you. He also spams you with these attacks. Use Ray Splash to take him out quickly. After he is defeated for good he says he will haunt Zero till the day he dies. The 3rd phase is you have to get out of the factory before it blows.

Tunnel Rhino Stage (difficulty 4/10)
After taking an unpleasant trip to the sewer we are now going to a mine. The first weapons you will see are track enemies all they want to do is drop boulders on you. If they fall off their tracks the enemies will start firing missiles at you. So it is best to dash under them or take them out when they land. Fall down the shaft and take out the rock enemy, its the same one from Buffalo's stage, then head upwards. You will notice a side room. If you have the Thunder weapon and the super charger. Charge up the Thunder weapon and you can get the boulder to fall down. Jump on the boulder to get the heart tank. Otherwise, head up and you will meet a new enemy. The new enemy here is a bolt and screw enemy that blocks the path. Just shoot it with a charged shot. Now as you head upward you will find that mud falls down on you. The mud will slow you down and limit your jumping power so remember that. Also, take out more rock enemies as you head upwards. Now, before the shaft with the crab enemies, look up and you will see a sub tank, get it. The crab enemies only charge if you charge your buster. The crab's release balls beams at you. Take them out with regular shots and they will not charge up. After passing through the first gate, you will meet a new enemy. The new enemy is a drill tank, it will either fire a bullet at you or two drills. After you kill it jump because it fires its drills to get a last hit in. Take out more bolt enemies and drill tanks then head up. You will also have to deal with falling rocks now so watch out for that. As you head up you will notice a giant bolder hanging down. Use the Thunder weapon on fully charged to break that boulder down. Use the bolder as a platform and head up to Dr. Light. Dr. Light will give you the helmet upgrade, it tells you were items are located. Go back the way you came and head right. Head down the long shaft to the mini boss gate. This boss is a robot on a tank and its attacks are determined by your location. If you climb all the way up the wall  the robot will pull its self up. The robot part will then hang from the ceiling and whack you with its long spiked fists. If you climb the wall just barely then it will just try to ram the wall. Either way just use charged shots to take it out quickly. The next room just has rock enemies and drill tanks to deal with; just head upwards to the gate. Tunnel Rhino (difficulty 4/10) Okay he can be a problem. He fires drills at you and if your on the wall you will be knocked down. He can also ram the wall himself knocking you down. The best way to beat him is when he charges dash over him, land, and fire. He is also weak to the Acid Bursts so if you have that use that. The weapon you get is T. Fang Drill. Difficulty Analysis this stage is long and has lots of enemies that pack a punch. That is what makes this stage moderate concerning difficulty. The mini boss attacks are determined by your location on the wall. Tunnel Rhino main attack is to knock you off the wall and hit you with drills. That is why he can be a little bit of a challenge. But if you dash over him and have the Acid Bursts weapon he goes down eventually.

Volt Catfish Stage (difficulty 7/10)
Okay now for an electrifying experience, were in a power plant. The first enemy is a laser enemy wait till stops firing its beam to proceed. You will meet an electric cannon enemy that fires sparks at you, so take it out with a charged shot.  Next you will see a platform, this platform takes you to Vile, so only jump on it when you are ready. Otherwise, take out the gunner enemy and proceed as well as avoiding the platform. It should be noted that you can dash through the lasers without taking damage, but usually if you do that you will walk into another enemy. Get on the elevator and ride it to the get off place. Once at the get off place, deal with more lasers and gunners, then head upwards. Deal with more volt cannons and go to the next elevator. If you go past the get off place you will see a gap to the right go into the gap. The heart tank is over death spikes. To get it dash other to the wall, just climb down enough to pick it up, and dash back. Then fall back down and let the elevator take you back to the get off place. Now you will deal with the same enemies as before, except there is a new enemy to deal with. Capsules will be from the ceiling firing sparks at you. It is sometimes best to just ignore them if they are on a high ceiling, and proceed. Then ride another elevator if you go past the get off place you will see a gap on your left. A strange platform will be there use a charged up Gravity Well to pull it upwards to see Dr. Light. Otherwise, go through the get off place and take out more volt cannons. Now once you enter the next room you can head upward if you have a mechanical suit. Get the mechanical rider and fall downwards. The path it creates will take you to the area with the sub tank. If you do not have a mechanical armor suit be sure to come back to this area. Avoid the sparks moving up and down the wall. Head down take out more volt cannons and fall down a shaft and avoid the sparks. Next you will need to take out gunners and once again avoid the sparks. That pretty much sets up the pattern for the next room till you get to the gate. Volt Catfish (difficulty 7/10) Catfish can be a pain to deal with. His generator on his back will allow him to fire huge amounts of lightening bolts and sparks at you. The bolts do a ton of damage. He can also jump around trying to land on you. The best weapon to use against him is the Drill weapon. The Drills will limit his attacks but you still will have to dodge. The weapon you get is the Triad Thunder a very powerful weapon Difficulty Analysis this stage is long and has lots of traps in it. This power plant has a tone of enemies in it that just love to hit you with their attacks. You also have spike traps and spark traps to deal with. Volt Catfish is another problem his attacks are powerful and can be tricky to dodge. So come to this battle only if you have the drill weapon.

Crush Craw Fish Stage (difficulty 5/10)
The first enemy you will see is the copter cannons that fire missiles at you. Take them out and jump down off the crane. If you have mechanical armors get on the platform to have one teleported to you. Head to the right get out of the armor suit and use the Triad Thunder fully charged to open a path in the floor. It contains a chip for another armor suit. Head to the right and a giant robot with mace balls will destroy the floor. Jump to the right side head down if you are in a mechanical suit. Using the mechanical suit smash the wall in to get a heart tank. I also think Triad Thunder on charge can open the pathway too. Head down and fight the mace ball robot. A few charged shots takes him out quick. Head right and meet a new enemy called the walk blaster. If they are standing up just shoot them if they squat down just wait till he stands up. Take out more copter enemies as well as mace ball enemies. Then do a super dash to avoid falling into the pit. Take the top path, take out mace ball enemies, and head downwards. It is best to go to the far end and just slide down the wall because it is so easy to slip and fall onto the spikes below. Head toward the gate then take out the generator. The only enemy here is the crab enemies on the wall. Now you have reached Crush's gate. Crush Craw Fish (difficulty 5/10) Crush does have a powerful attack that he uses. If he catches you with his claw he will literally pinch you doing a lot of damage. Avoid the blades he throws up at the walls they will knock you down, which allows him to nail you with his claws. Use the Triad Thunder as its his weakness. Another way to beat him dash other him after he throws his blades and fire. The weapon you get from this battle is Spinning Blade. Difficulty Analysis the stage's main problem is enemy placement. It is so easy to get hit and lose health in this stage. Crush's main problem is his claw attack and he will find a way to nail you with it. However, that is the only serious attack he has.

Neon Tiger Stage (difficulty 8/10)
Now, its time for a rumble in the jungle and better run through the jungle. The first enemy you will see in this stage is a dragonfly. The dragonflies can drop bombs on you, but if you jump on their back you can ride them. Here you want to take them out. The next enemy you will meet is a tank enemy that throws thorns at you. Take the tank out and jump across the spikes, take another tank out, and then climb the wall to the top platform. Take out the mace ball robot and jump on the dragonfly's back. He will give you a ride to the top to get a sub tank. It is possible to do a super dash and get the sub tank as well. After, that just head to the right and take out mace ball robots. Next, climb a ladder, take out wall cannons, bolt enemies, and jump over the death spikes. Continue to the right taking out bolt enemies. You will then see a wall with a crack in it. Use the Drill weapon to break through and super dash across the spikes. Dr. Light will give you the super charger. Now you can fire double charged shots as well as charge special weapons. Head down the ladder after exiting Dr. Lights room. The ladders take you to the mini boss which is a giant worm. The giant worm is real weak to Triad Thunder so use that for a quick kill. After defeating the mini boss climb up a ladder. If you go to the left you can get a mechanical armor teleported in. If not head to the right and take out mace ball enemies. You, will also notice the capsule enemies are back just ignore them except for the ones on the floor. The next part is just a repeat of taking out mace ball enemies and capsule enemies. Head down the shaft and meet a terrain chewing turtle. The turtles will chew away the floor leaving grooves in it. The grooves will damage you so quickly take out the turtles. Before the gate hitch a ride on a dragonfly to get a heart tank. Neon Tiger (difficulty 9/10) Tiger is a pain to fight. He is very fast, can fire ray splash on you, and slice you with his long claws. This is a fight that will really test your skill, so you better have brought a fully charged sub tank. I have not found a pattern with this guy. He is weak to the Spinning Blade, but even then you have to do a lot of dodging. Eventually he will go down, but oh is he a pain. The weapon you win is a powerful weapon called the Ray Splash. The Ray Splash works like a souped up machine gun Difficulty Analysis this stage is long and has lots of enemies and traps. Neon Tiger is also a pain to fight. When I play this game this is the boss that always gives me the most trouble.

Gravity Beetle Stage (difficulty 4/10)
The first enemy you meet is a gunner enemy so deal with it like you did before. You will then be placed into a room that has blocks in it. The enemies in here are gunners and cannons. However, if you head to the left you can get a heart tank. It should be noted that the layout of this room changes after a certain maverick has been beaten. So, getting the heart tank will require you to revisit this stage. One you get out of the gunner room just climb the ladder. Climb up the wall, take out more cannons, and pass through the first gate. Then, climb a long ladder to the top. Before, proceeding to the right climb up the pole to get a mechanical armor chip. After collecting the chip head to the right. The main enemies here are copter enemies, gunners, cannons, and a saw blade enemy. Blast everything and proceed then head down another ladder. Now you will have to ride a slow moving elevator, the only threat is the gunners shooting you from the gaps. I find it best to stay on the elevator and just dodge the gunner enemies. The elevator will take you to another area. If you want to get a special Dr. Light enhancement you will need to climb up and get an amour teleported in. Then fall down and quickly dash because the floor is made up of bullets. The bullets will fall down as soon as you stand on them, do dash and punch out the wall at the end. It should be noted you can only use 1 of the 4 special Light upgrades. Otherwise, if you do not want to get the special Light upgrade, dash across the floor without an armor suit, and then climb up a ladder. Now all you need to do is head up a long shaft and take out the enemies to Beetle's gate. Gravity Beetle (difficulty 4/10) Beetle is big and bulky so he likes to try and corner you. He can also do lots of damage with his Gravity Well attack. To end this fight quickly pelt him with the Ray Splash. On the other hand, if you do not have the Ray Splash then just dash over him, but avoid his Gravity Well's and fire charged shots at him. The weapon you get is Gravity Well. Difficulty Analysis this stage is not too bad. The only real problem is enemy placement. Unlike other stages there are not really to many death traps in this stage. Beetle can be a problem because he likes to fire his Gravity Wells at you and tries to corner you. But the Ray Splash really takes him out quickly

Blast Hornet stage (difficulty 4/10)
The first enemy you meet is a gunner enemy so just take it out. Then you have to ride a long elevator with gunners shooting at you. Basically, the same thing in Gravity Beetle's stage. Now if you want the special Light upgrade. The Light upgrade in this stage is 1 out of 4, but this one allows you to replenish your health (as long as you stand still). Climb up into the gap teleport the gunner armor in, because it allows you to glide. Bring the armor down and walk to the edge and then glide to the top right. Dr. Light will be there to offer you a change for the upgrade. If you do not want the upgrade ignore the gap in the ceiling and jump on the conveyor belts. The belts will not only have cannon enemies on them, but they will try to send you into the walls, which has death spikes on them. So, take out the cannons avoid the spikes and head downwards. The mini Boss for this stage is point wire hologram thing. It can launch itself into you, jump on you, and climb the wall. Acid Bursts takes out this stage's mini boss quickly. Next you will be taken to a room with a bunch of warehouses in it. Climb the warehouses and take out the copters and cannon enemies. You will notice there is a bomb in the center of the roofs between the ware houses. Take them out and jump down, and you will notice the warehouses have cracks in them. Use, the Drill weapon to take out the cracks, bombs and head down. You will get the mechanical armor. Now, you can use the other armors yes that is right folks. You have to get this one first. Sometimes it is best to come to this stage to get after defeating Tunnel Rhino; and kill yourself off so you can use the other armors needed for other stages. After getting past the warehouse you will face another enemy. A big cargo ship will pull in the only way to get it to leave is shoot the crates it drops. Also if you noticed the wall can be climbed, so climb the wall as it leads to a heart tank. The next area has falling trash coming from the gaps, and sometimes the trash will block your path. So, shoot the trash to blast open a path and quickly dash under, and if the trash is not blocked then dash under to avoid getting hit. Blast Hornet (difficulty 4/10) You better have the Gravity well for this battle. Hornet will summon hornets to sting you and swarm you. He himself will also dive at you. If you have Gravity Well it works wonders against this guy. In fact, Gravity well will literally take him out quick. The weapon you get is Parasitic Bomb Difficulty Analysis this stage's main problem is the enemy placement and traps. Hornet himself can be a problem if you do not have his weakness, because he will swarm you with his hornets as well as dive at you.

Now I will not be going other the Doppler stage's because they have enemies and obstacles that you have already seen. Also the bosses really vary in the Doppler Stages. It depends on who you bring to the fight. If you bring X then you have different bosses. Zero will also have different bosses. Another thing that alters the bosses is rather you left Bit, Byte and Vile alive. However I will go over Doppler and Sigma since they are boss Battles

Dr. Doppler (difficulty 7/10)
Doppler can be a pain to fight for one reason. He can throw his shield up. If you take hit him when he has his shield up he recharges his health. Avoid  his fireballs he throws at you. The weapons that work well against him are Ray Splash, Triad Thunder, and Acid Bursts. I think Acid Bursts does a lot of damage to him. To win this battle just pick your spots and dodge

After Doppler is defeated Zero or X will ask him what happened to him. Doppler will say how Sigma's true from is a computer virus and how he invaded Doppler's programming. Thus, corrupting Doppler. Doppler goes on to say that the heroes are strong and that he is sorry for what he did. He also tells were Sigma is and for them to destroy Sigma.

Sigma Battles (difficulty 10/10)
What a pain this guy is. Sigma's first form will be were he glides around the room throwing fire at you. Spinning Blade is the best weapon to go through here. After, his first form is defeated he will say impressive. Second phase. This is also a pain to beat. His form in this game is called Kaiser Sigma. Kaiser Sigma only has one week point and that is his small head. In the meantime he is going to be firing lots of lasers and missiles at you. So dodge climb the wall and heat his small hit point. This battle takes a long time to beat. Also have sub tanks ready just in case. Sigma 3rd phase. After his Kaiser body is destroyed he shows his true computer form. His computer form will flood the area with Lava. Climb the walls to beat the Lava and beat the game.

So this concludes my guide, walk through and difficulty analysis. I hope my guide helps you beat one of the greatest games ever.
