This guide is exclusively for MK7 technique. Here, you will hopefully find a wealth of information that could help your development of racing skills. I hope to post a track guide and an item/kart/technique guide once a week. I will post everything I can to help struggling players out there. Now before you read on, this post is a spoiler cabinet. Spoilers, in case you were wondering, are informative posts on things that people might want to find out for themselves.

Feel free to post any MK7 related information that you think could help other players. I appreciate any help I can get. After all, I am just one person, and I have developed my own techniques that might not necessarily work for other players. Because of this, I need people to post THEIR techniques so that this guide will be complete with everything you need to know to do better. The only things I ask are that you post only MK7 info, and that you keep it clean.

Thank-you for reading my guide. In time, I'm sure it will grow. How big? That all depends on you and me. You because the amount of info and technique for this game is extremely large, and I just can't know it all, or I might want to do other things with my time, and me because I am the author. I could forget about this guide for a while, or I might just be too busy. I will probably do my posts on weekends, or nights. At any rate, I'm going to try for twice a week. Stay tuned for track info, defensive driving techniques, and character statistics (hopefully). Thank-you for suffering all the way through this post. I'm sure that the next few won't be as long.

First edit: Thanksgiving day, 2014.

Today, I'll be dropping a few miscellaneous tips and tricks that I've accumulated from my many years of being a Mario Kart fan. I'll be giving some of my favorite Kart combinations as well. It's just sorta easy to throw together, and is probably most likely to help someone out.

Acceleration:
This is probably the most important stat to focus on when choosing a cart, unless you're planning on racing with the No Items Community. The reason I say this is because without it, you're pretty much guaranteed to be going considerably less than top speed for the majority of the race. With a kart high in acceleration, you'll be able to get ahead of the pack at the beginning of the race, when the chaos is at it's peak. You'll be able to get to an item box relatively early, and get an item to protect yourself with. Even if you don't get an item, and subsequently get clobbered by a red koopa shell, you'll probably be able to get back on your feet in time to make your next drift.

Yoshi, weight, and Handling:
Yoshi's my favorite character, and I'll tell you why: He's got the speed of a medium-weight character, and the acceleration, handling, and weight of a lightweight character. Handling and weight go hand in hand, The higher your handling is, the sharper you'll turn. It's the exact opposite with weight, meaning the higher it is, the harder it will be for your car to turn. Weight also negatively effects your acceleration. In fact, the only good thing about weight is when somebody bumps you, it tends to keep you where you want to be instead of where you don't.

Drifting:
Drifting is one of those things that makes or breaks you. If you can master it, then you can climb the skill ladder of the Mario Kart world much higher and faster than if you can't. Drifting allows you to go the shortest distance around a curve without losing speed. Also, the Mini-Turbo at the end takes some time off of your run. Time spent on the track is the major difference between the winner and the loser.

That's all I'm going to post today as far as that goes. Now I'll post one of my favorite kart combos; One that I've nicknamed The Off-Roader:

Character: Lightweight. I like Lakitu because he matches the color scheme of the kart.
Main Body: Bumble V
Tires: Red Monster
Glider: Doesn't matter, but I prefer something lightweight such as the Paraglider.
Why I like this car: This car, under the right circumstances, can drift while it's off the road. I know It goes against everything I just told you today, but you can make your own karts with that. Anyway, the car performs outstandingly when it goes off of the road, especially while drifting. You can use this trick to get ahead with shortcuts that normally require a boost to get to. My favorite track to use this trick on is Kalamari Desert, where you can bypass the railroad tracks altogether. The speed and acceleration on this thing are awesome, but the handling is not impressive. At all.

Well, I'm done for today, and I'll probably not post another edit for a year, but I don't know. I do hope you learned something valuable, or at least found out that you know something about Mario Kart. Thanks for reading this, and I hope you enjoyed.

wubbykeith : Yeah if the supposed minimum for guides is 400 words or so, and you only have 300-something here, then you definitely need to edit this guide often. Don't want to get your thread closed or be scolded by a Mod.

MysteryMan007 : Thanks for your comment on my post. I may not have read it the same half of the year that you posted it, but it inspired me to make an edit. I'm horrible about starting something and not finishing it. Maybe now that I've gotten back into it, the thread won't be neglected, and eventually it may form into something special. I don't know my way around Vizzed as well as a regular user does, so if you see something that I do wrong that jumps out at you, PLEASE say something. Thanks again, and... well I guess that's it.
