So, there is a girl that I like in school, and I'm not sure if she likes me. We have been friends for many years. She has been acting different around me sort of, she is usually in a grumpy mood and does not like a good percentage of people, but she will perk up and say "Hi" when I converse with her. I know her a lot, but I have always been the type that is too scared to ask. Does she like me and how can I tell her?

It's difficult to be able to tell whether a girl/boy likes you. Unless they are straight forward, but you can tell by the small signs if you try. If you two text, or on facebook. Sometimes you can tell by their smileys, or even in person, you can read their facial expression. But what matters is, don't be scared. If you show you are confident, it will help in many ways, even none relationships, like jobs and such. But that's off subject. 

In other words, flirt with her a bit, NOT TO MUCH. Just a bit, show her you care about her. You don't need words to express your feelings for another. Good luck.

At your age, especially how you've been friends for a while, it is very easy to be "friendzoned". If you want to have a relationship with her other than just friendship, then you need to start making it a little more clear that you like her. A pretty good hint is if you invited her to do something with you alone... something fun and easy.

Do that a few times, and then you could ask her "so, if anyone asks if you are my girlfriend, I would like to say 'she is'"... or whatever.

There is no specific formula on what you should do. You just have to play it by ear. But my advice is, either be just her friend or make the move and start doing things with her... don't just wait in the middle.
