Well there really ain't many people who can properly say "Back in the Day'' but I remember staying out till the sun went down, games weren't able to be played across the world, cell phone were the size of bricks, MTV played music videos, internet was nonexistent, and ther is much more but it would take to long

Oh my the memories!

Anyone remember Snick?  All the good shows they had on then!

I remember when we had such huge amounts of snow that one time we kids were able to build a snow stair case almost to the top of a tree!

Also the fun of Star Trek Next Generation!  All of us kids in the apartment complex would come to my house to watch that show!  Then we would role play outside the next few days till the next episode came!

Polly Pocket when her world actually fit in your pocket?

Good saturday morning cartoons that were not just a repeat from expensive kid's channels?

I turn the tv on now a day and all they have are shows from the channel Sprout and not original cartoons for just saturday mornings!  What a rip off!

I came across this article and immediately thought of you guys here. Check it out.

http://worldobserveronline.com/2013/05/22/50-things-only-80s-kids-can-understand/?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=referral

A lot of stuff from the eighties that might tickle your nostalgia bone. What do you guys think? Brought back some memories? For me it was a bit too Americanised and I guess whoever wrote it is also a bit older than I am at least but many things really came flowing back.

Jordanv78 : I was sitting here thinking about which G.I. Joe public service announcement would be perfect for this thread. NOW I KNOW! .......

Brigand : THAT LINK WAS SO RAD!
"we are now as far removed from the ‘80s as we were to the ‘50s in the ‘80s" YIKES!!!

(I wonder if my mom & dad will let me order that BMX mini poster book?)

I remember Heathcliff the cartoon pretty well! How about you guys? At the very least people should remember the theme song.

The show was pretty good. It wasn't my favorite cartoon but it was pretty funny.

Jordanv78 :

I remember Heathcliff better as a comic book. I think I was fifteen already when I first saw the cartoon on Cartoon Network. Never cared much for either. In the eighties we had the comic book here but not the cartoon.

I remember in the 1980's when GI Joe launched its 4 or 5 inch figurines. Those were fun couldn't wait to get to the store to get them. I remember in the late 1980's the Internet was becoming popular and so were computers. I remember when Mega Man made its debut.

I remember the old Smurfs TV show.  I thought it was great when I was little, but after seeing a few episodes more recently, I can only shudder at what was once a wonderful childhood memory.

Adam West as Batman.   I think that's all that needs to be said here.

G.I. Joe was by far my favorite show on the TV growing up.  I used to obsess over it, watching it every chance I got.

I remember when the old 3.75 inch G.I. Joe's were released!  I never had many of them, but I absolutely loved the things!  Thankfully, I took care of most of them growing up, adding a one or two to the set on a whim from time to time, and now, my two boys have a set of G.I. Joe figures that would have been more than I'd have ever dreamed of having.

LEGO!  I had a 5 gallon bucket full of the things, and absolutely no instructions for any sets.  I spent countless hours building castles and space ships with them.

The Super Friends cartoon series.

And I'll even admit to watching my fair share of Captain Planet as well.

I'm glad I brought back some fond childhood memories!  This thread made me feel pretty nostalgic as well.  I think a lot of the great childhood memories we have had are why most of us found our way to this forum in the first place!

That is what brought me here in the first place a year or so ago. Not many of us old timer seem to stay though, so that is why this part of the forum was created. We all hope you stick around.

Back in the day I remember when the Atari was still popular. Then I remember the NES replacing the Atari back in the day. Back in the day I remember when Wal-Mart was just a store not a super center. Back in they day I remember when Roses stores were ever so popular. I remember back in the day when Mega Man first came out. Back in the day I remember when music was music.

I plan to stick around.  The games will keep me coming back for years, even if I'm not always very active on the forums.  I tend to post when a topic catches my attention or when I have a lot of spare time on my hands.

Mega Man!  Now that was really fun for a while.  Unfortunately, they started feeling pretty repetitive after the first few.  I have the collection on the xbox that I still play from time to time.  They can be pretty fun when the mood strikes.

Maybe not endless, but its close enough!  My wife even joked that there are more games on this site than I own in real life!  Its even been joked that maybe I wont have to buy EVERY old game I find now that I've stumbled across this site (I'm not that bad, honest!  I only buy the ones I have systems for, and only then if I dont already have the game!)  That said, having access to many of the old games that have been difficult to locate at an acceptable price over the years will diffidently save me a little cash at the second hand stores.
