Wonderboy and all of it's sequels remain a fun race to the finish type of platformer in which you have to constantly grab fruit to replenish you're depleting lifebar and along the way knock enemies of the screen with a variety of weapons that started on Sega master system  that spawned a blatant copy called Adventue Island for the NES. Adventure Island was so close in design (you're character even gets a skateboard like Wonderboy and it functions the exact same way!  I'm surprised Sega never sued Hudson Soft!  Personally I've always been a Wonderboy fan and always saw Adventure Island as a second rate copy cat. Then I discovered Super Adventure Island on SNES, and while I feel in many ways it's the same game and has failed to evolve unike  Wonderboy has ,it seems like a love letter from Hudson to Sega because of the level of care put into the visuals and music...oh my ... the MUSIC! Seriously folks, if there ever was a game where the style elevated the substance this is IT. The game simply OOZES with some of the BEST MUSIC I've heard ,From the cheery Calypso music intro stage to the Milli Vanilli Style bassy groove that punctuates the stage where you're in the belly of a whale , Super Adventure Island is like a giant bowl of you're favorite ice cream for your senses! You at least have to play through this game at least once and if  you can forgive some pretty awkward controls and some cheap deaths you might just enjoy this dessert YUM!
