I have been having trouble getting the controls right for a few systems. If you help me set up the controls I will send you 1000 Viz! My pc controller is a Logitech Gamepad f310. The consoles I need help with today is the Turbo CD and PC-FX. This first person to post what buttons I should use for the buttons for the game (that works and feels good) will get 1000 Viz. Come on help me out and earn some very easy Viz! After this there are some more systems I will need help with and more Viz to earn!

I made a little image for you. I hope it helps.

If you tell me what other systems you want it for, I'll do images for them too.

2/6 mode select should be mapped to an uncommon key on the keyboard. It switches the controller from being a two button controller to a six button controller. For most games you will only need the two button controller.

As shown in my diagram, only I and II are actually needed on your controller, map the other buttons around it similar to the second diagram.

That work for you sweetie?

Alrighty the systems I need help with today is the Nintendo 64 and MAME. I just can't get my controls set up right with N64, it never feels right and I have no clue what to do for MAME.

Tails, I am sure you will know but I didn't summon you just to give others a chance at the 1000 Viz.

The problem with N64 and MAME is that the best method for configuring them depends on the game. For example, on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, you use the C Buttons more than anything else, so you want to make the four face buttons act as the four C Buttons, and assign A and B to whatever random position you like. Whereas a game like Mario Kart 64 makes the C Buttons practically useless, and so you might assign them to the right control stick, and assign A and B to two of the face buttons. So, it would be difficult to pick a specific setup for it. Still, here are a few setups that I use:

For games that rely heavily on the C buttons, as well as A and B:
- C up, down, left, and right assign to the four face buttons

- A goes to "L1" and B goes to "R1"

- L goes to "L2" and R goes to "R2"

- Z goes to "L3" or "R3" (L3 and R3 are the control sticks, when you press them in like a button)

You could swap the position of L or R with the Z button, if it works better.

For games where the C buttons aren't important:
- C buttons are assigned to the right control stick (up=C up, down=C down, etc)

- A, B, and Z are assigned to three of the four face buttons, or Z can be "L2" or "R2"

- L is "L1" and R is "R1"

That is actually the most useful configuration most of the time, since the C buttons aren't usually too important.

For games where the C buttons are important, but A and B aren't:

- C buttons should be assigned to the four face buttons

- A and B are assigned to whatever buttons you don't want to use

- L and R are "L1" and "R1"

Those are my personal preferences for N64.

MAME is much easier:
-Left control stick (or D pad, if you wish) serves for movement

-The four face buttons are used for everything else. I personally use the bottom face button for the first button in the game, the left face button for the second button, and the top and right face buttons are the third and fourth buttons. Most MAME games don't use four buttons, and I've not personally found one that uses more than four.

Hopefully this is helpful, and not too confusing. If it does help, don't send me any Viz.

Eirinn : Thank you for explaining it so well! I think I should be able to work with the N64 now, and you know I have been dying to play it. I may still need a little help with MAME. If I do I will PM you, but really dude, thanks.
