What is this thing?
I was rummaging through a cupboard and found this. I don't have a clue what it is or what it does, though. Help needed.

Pokegeek : It looks VERY much like a cheat controller.
It has turbo switches - yes, it's a turbo controller.

It looks to either be the turbo button, or the R button seeing how on the opposite side of the buttons is the L button.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

The Super Advantage controller was produced by Asciiware and made for the SNES as a follow-up to the Advantage controller for the NES, both serving the same purpose. You were all correct with the 'turbo buttons'...the switches on the right allowed you to control which buttons you wanted to be 'turbo' while leaving the others 'regular'. The main function of these controllers were to provide an arcade-like feel to your games with the joystick and larger buttons that you could set on your lap.  Sadly, the idea never took off, as it seemed to be before its time.  X-Arcade offers a similar setup that works on "any video game console" as well as being using in MAME cabinet builds currently, so it looks like you jumped the gun a little on those, Nintendo...
