It's sort of a tie between charmander and cyndaquil...
But i got to go with charmander.

Torchic and chimchar are ok to, its just their evolved forms are part fighting, which makes them weak to psychic and flying.

I don't actually choose the fire starters (I get them later on for completion), but I have to vote for Cyndaquil as it's cuter and is about the same strength as the others anyways.

I think torchick is the best i had him on emerald version and he envoles into blazikin a fighting / fire pokemon unlike charizard who is just fire and flying...

i would have to say charmander because i grew up playing the orignal pokemon and when charmander evolves, Charizard is flying and fire so it can easily take down blaziken and infernape

Maybe, but their fighting type removes their rock weakness which Charizard is 4x weak to.

Cyndaquil hands down. He is a total beast on crystal when he evolves into typhlosion. Flamethrower, Earthquake, and Thunderpunch moves let him cover most of his weaknesses.

How many of you have always wanted to keep a dragon as a pet? Well that's my reason for Charmander. On a side note mom gave back my pokemon book and I spent around half an hour admiring my holographic Charizard. Anyways, Cundiquil is second because although I don't get into this kinda stuff... I would say that the best fire starter would have to be Cyndiquil, because he is stronger. I leveled all of the Fire starter pokemon up to level 100 (Same Nature) and Typhlosion was the strongest.

Generally i'm all about the water starters but fire is a close second... Cyndaquil was just overall an amazing pokemon... Just as a side note i really didn't like the choices they gave for the Diamond/Pearl series... Not sure exactly why they just didn't appeal to me for some reason...
