I think it's fine, they just need to make Bowser more ferocious like he was in Super Mario 64. He was a lot bigger in that! But if they did ever change it up, they should surprise everyone with Donkey Kong kidnapping Peach like he did back in the day! Maybe Bowser brainwashed him and the rest of the DK crew? In fact, they need to expand the kidnapping to Peach and Daisy, with brainwashed Donkey Kong plus crew and Bowser are the villains with Wario and Waluigi as his lackeys, and Mario and Luigi have to save them. It should be like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, jumping into worlds collecting power stars or shine sprites or whatever. AHaHHAaa I'm getting myself excited over something I made up.

If Mario and Sonic were combined into one rock-solid platforming extravaganza, than that would be awesome, and hopefully the last I will ever hear of Mario's overdone spin-off games (Mario Golf, Tennis, Kart, Paint, Hotel Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Mario Soccer, Sports Mix, Mario & Luigi (even though I love Fawful), Mario is Missing, Mario Pinball, Mario Typing Trainer, Mario Preschool, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Puzzle League, etc.). However, Sonic alone is not all that great as far as games go, and I am just sick of Mario.

It would be nice to see a game switch it up. Super Mario Sunshine was a perfect Mario game that didn't need that plot, and introduced a ton of new gameplay elements, and a story that stood out from the regular Bowser Capturing Peach story, and that's why it's my favorite Mario game.

There are plenty of Mario games that don't have that plot, are there not? For example, the Super Mario RPG's plot focuses on saving the kingdom from a giant Smithy. Mario & Luigi Super Star Saga focuses on trying to fix Princess Peach's "explosive vocabulary". Super Mario Bros. 2 was about fending off enemies within Mario's nightmares. I think there are some other aversions to the Bowser-stole-Peach plot, as well.

Technically, it already has. Look at Super Princess Peach for the DS. The story is that Bowser kidnapped Mario and Luigi while Princess Peach is taking a walk. Thus Peach has to save Mario and Luigi from Bowser.

I guess it would be good. I mean like how many times can one person be kidnapped in a lifetime. Poor Mario is probably sick of rescuing Peach from Bowser continuously. I think they'd need to make a really good story line for it though if Nintendo were to change it and keep some of its originality.

Really, Peach getting captured should not be taken out of the game.  It is nice for the Mario games to have their own "trademark" of sorts.

all Nintendo really cares about is your money, but at least they make some fun video games. They can't keep using the exact same strategy for very long, though. I like Mario, but, as many people have said already, enough is ENOUGH.
