I've been thinking lately. Why don't we have a report button on user's profiles? I mean, seriously. We have a report button on posts that direct you to a Private Message to Local Moderators, so why don't we have a report button on profiles that direct you to a report page? I don't think it would cause too much server strain, so why don't we already have it? Think about it. It's on pretty much every other website that allows users to create their own accounts, and it probably wouldn't take too long to make it.

I have searched on Google and I have not seen that there is already a thread like this, so I apologize if there really is one. Feel free to notify me.

I'm pretty sure it wont put any strain on the server at all. It's just an extra link on a profile. 
It doesn't really seem necessary. Most people cause trouble on the forums. You can also go to the staff page then send a pm to the local mods or global mods. 

earthwarrior : Yes, but a report button would be easy and a little more convenient. You wouldn't be pestering any moderators either, since the reports would probably be sent to a webpage that locals and users of higher ranks could view whenever they feel like it and it wouldn't send a notification to them.

TheFadedWarrior : Well That would be a great shortcut To ban common spammers or Flamers And  I,ve seen people just do it for the heck of messing with 1 another. I also think that should be included in the chat rooms

SuperCrash64 : I swear that there used to be a report button in chatrooms... But you wouldn't need one that much, seeing as there is almost always a moderator in the Vizzed chatrooms.

A report button on user's profile would be really convenient, but it isn't really necessary, this should be an optional addition to people's profiles.

I don't get the point of having a report button on the profile. They do something bad on the forum, you push the report button on the post that they made that broke the rules/was offensive/etc. Why would you add an extra step in going specifically to that person's profile to report them. I mean, you are on the thread, so report them there. Pointless to go to their profile page to do something you can already just do on the thread they made the offense on. 

And you made the point about not bothering the Locals. If the locals didn't get a PM for the report, what would be the point of having a report button? It sends a report to a page that the Locals happen to have access to, but the only time something will be done about it is if a Local happens to decide to go to this page? I think the report button that sends a PM is much more effective. 

The ONLY use I could see with this feature is if someone made an offense via PM or in game page's comment windows. That would be it. The system you are proposing just sounds inefficient compared to the one we already have on the forum part of the site. Your way just adds another step in having to go to their profile. It also makes it to where you have to tell which thread they made the offense in, and the Mods would have to look for it. Doing it on the report button in the thread takes the Mods right to the offending post. 

rcarter2 : Yes, but there are many other websites that have a forum report button and you can PM moderators that still have a report button on profiles. The profile report buttons are used a lot because they aren't reporting people for their posts, they are rather reporting people for their behavior.

TheFadedWarrior : Again, that is the one and only use I can see for it. But a lot of your examples in regards to the mods pertained to the forum, which made it pointless. But if they were doing things in the RGR or via PM, I can see the use.

rcarter2 : I think it would be useful for profile flamers but then again you could just notify site staff on there profiles or through a private message. So I don't think there is much need for this.
