Why in the world has no one made an open world MMO sandbox style zombie survival game? I mean we have Grand Theft Auto series and don't get me wrong I truly do enjoy the games. For the same reasons that everyone else does (I'm assuming). The open, fully realized, fully detailed world that you can explore at your leisure without having to iniate a mission. It is totally cool for you to simply roam around gun in hand and do as you please, for better or for worse! Now imagine this. Bear in mind that I am drawing inspiration from several different games over several different genres and platforms. What if there were a world much like San Andreas? Full, open, and begging to be explored. But what if instead of gang bangers there were a mixture of zombies, survivors, and people exploiting the Armageddon that populated these streets? What if every building was fully accessible from front door, to back alley, to rooftop. What if the character were a little more personalized, for instance I really LOVE the feel of controlling the Assassins Creed characters. But with first person shooter elements also. A MASSIVE city explicable in and of itself. But I could think of a THOUSAND different missions that would be relevant to the game play. For those of you who have played Hunter: The Reckoning or Hunter: Wayward you know that the creators of that game had some image when it came to the monsters. I would get those guys to develop my monsters. And hell, why stop at Zombies? Say a gate directly to Hell opened up right under the very streets at the busiest intersection of this city. Imagine the kinds of things that could come crawling out of that hole. The central story mission of the game would obviously be to reclaim your city from said creatures, and possibly chuck a pipe bomb directly down the hole to hell. But there could be sooooooooo much more to do in the meantime. I would want this city to be populated with both real people and NPC's. And of course the monsters. I would definitely keep the ability to take any car within reason... if you could find one still running. Or perhaps you would need to collect car parts, say fuses and spark plugs lying about the city in order to get certain cars to start. I would of course throw in some of the basic NPC "Please find my girlfriend and return her safely to me" missions. And of course the world renowned  (AND HATED!!!) protection missions. But I would incorporate the Elder Scrolls style of being able to completely and utterly ignore the central mission. I wouldn't go so far as to let you do something in your ramblings that would close the option of completing the main quest, but make it something to be done at ones leisure. I would of course pirate Elder Scrolls style of leveling your character up. I like the idea that if you want your character to jump higher you must jump a bunch. That makes sense to me. You want your character to aim better? Get out there with your preferred weapon and dump some clips. And since we are dealing with a supernatural element (I.E. monsters and holes to hell and what not) who's to say that your characters couldn't develop supernatural abilities perhaps due to their proximity to the source of the monsters. I would include a hideout system that would let you take over, and of course, decorate (For all the hoarders out there) your own little hidey hole in the city. Perhaps make it to where you have to defend your hideout once in awhile. In such a city there would be people (I.E. Rapists, Murderers, Plunderers, Sadists)  who are not to be trusted and could bring a new element to the combat. Avoiding slow moving zombies is one thing, avoiding a group of para-militant psychopaths intent on taking your weapons and/or car and/or life takes a new strategy and method of dealing with it. I would have speech and bartering as an upgradeable skill. Obviously handgun, shotgun, rifle, SMG, Assault Rifle, and  melee classes would have their own skill set. But I wouldn't block off skill tree selections based on your Class. In fact I wouldn't let you choose your own class. I would start your character (Fully customizable) with nothing and have their class be decided and possibly changed in response to the players personal preference of play style. I would make sure that scouring for food and water and shelter were nessecities but not too pressing to a point where you feel like you're playing a sim. I would of course take personal decisions into account and have the way that NPC's react to your character reflect said decisions. Let's take it back to the good old RPG style of judgment (I.E. Good Lawful, Evil Lawful, Neutral Lawful, Good Chaotic, Evil Chaotic, Neutral Chaotic) PvP would be a must, both in reference to combat and robbery. I would have time specific event, for instance obviously vampires aren't going to be out prowling during the day. Certain NPC would only come foraging in certain areas during certain times, probably daylight. And for God's sake please can we have some explanations for the things happening in the world?!?! My take on zombies is thus: Do zombies move slow? Some of them. I would imagine it depends on the deterioration of the physical body of the creature. I wouldn't go so far into fantasy  as to say that the Vampires turn into bats or smoke or whatnot. But perhaps the energy from the hole has changed them, the weaker willed or sick and twisted humans. I would incorporate a "Chance to Save" system. For example... Say you get a bit careless and walk by a darkened doorway with your back turned, a Zombie lurches out to grab and bite you. Quick Time Event!!!!! Succeed and your characters reaction was quick enough to defend himself in time to receive knock back damage but no health loss. I would also incorporate finishing moves, and when I say this I have the game Manhunt in mind. Whether you're squeamish or a gore fanatic you have to admit that the kill scenes in Manhunt were very satisfying. Perhaps if you managed to shoot a creature in the leg and bring it to one knee and then quickly switch to a Katana the player could be rewarded with a grisly, satisfying decapitation scene.I would incorporate the engine that lets you judge a characters health by the lumps and bruises, bloody areas, and torn clothes that would make it more realistic. Forget the health bar. No mana bar either... instead any special abilities (I.E. Double Jump) would run on a cool down timer system. I would allow Clan joining, Faction building and what not. Perhaps sweep and clear a building with two or three of your most trusted friends (allies?) and then go scavenge chain link, and maybe those bars that an be found on the outside of most inner city pawnshops and fortify your building. Then go scavenge and stockpile weapons, ammo, food, armor, flashlights, batteries, etc. I am huge on P2P interactions, for better or for worse and I think an entire community set in this world would be a place that people would want to go to for several hours at a time to get away from the real world, which in case you haven't noticed, isn't much better than the one I've just described. I really think that this would be a game worth developing, worth playing, and worth living in. Expansion packs could bring endless variety to this world. Perhaps after a few months release a new city that is accessible... perhaps the remnants of the military come in and build a bridge to the next city over. I wouldn't neccesarily deal with re spawning items but instead perhaps have weapons drops at obscure locations; locations that you would really have to be out and about and exploring the more obscure parts of the map to find. I don't have all the answers, and I'm not even sure that this is a viable idea. But I am a gamer, it's something that I truly love, and this is a game that I would dedicate money and probably COUNTLESS hours of my life to. That must mean that there are others out there who would be willing to do the same. Please respond and let me know what you think. Also if there are people out there who could maybe help me make this thing happen, in any form, be it a graphic novel, animated series or movie, hell even a free online flash game please let me know. I'm prolific with words and I honestly believe that I could write dialogue and person to person interactions much better and more realistically than a lot of the things I see in todays media. I am a mixed martial arts fighter and have endless theories of freaking AMAZING choreographic interactions. Again... let me know what you all think.
With Sincere Thanks, Travis Radden.

What.
Why would you repost something you already posted?  It was in the correct spot by the way.  How is general chat better for a zombies post than a zombies forum?
