Esh...I just read the OP, and I don't think I'm your guy. I'd be honored, but most of what I know is about the Marines (had an uncle in the Marines, so most of my exposure to things pertaining to the armed forces was releated to that particular branch).


After thinking for about ten minutes, I'm afraid all I could cite about the army specifically would be a few ranks and maybe one story. Sorry.

Alright, well, here goes.


My personal favorite story:
The often depicted image of six soldiers raising a flag, is a tribute to the bravery of a group of soldiers who planted the United States flag at Iwo Jima. When they started, there were more (sorry, the exact number escapes me), but due to heavy fire, most were killed. As one was shot, the next would take the flag, not allowing it to hit the ground. At last, the remaining six men, five U.S. Marines, and one Navy corpsman, reached the summit, and raised the flag, effectively claiming the battle.

Fact: The often quoted "Semper Fi" is actually the shortened form of the greek(?) words Semper Fidellis (probably misspelled), meaning Always Faithful.

Fact: WWII was ended shortly after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, when the U.S. Air force dropped an atomic bomb on each. The bombs were named fatboy and skinnyman, ironically fatboy being the smaller of the two.

Fact: Military provisions titled M.R.E.s (Meal Ready to Eat, I believe) aren't exactly gourmet. lol

I can list a few more minor facts, regarding fatigues and some equipment, but that proves little.
I could also share a few other quotes and stories, but for Vizzed rule's sake, I should keep my yap shut. lol

Not exactly a fountain of knowledge obviously. I do appreciate that I was considered for this position.
