Plus, you get a free fire type in the beginning of every game, which usually evolves into a really cool fire type (unless you picked Chimchar and get stuck with Monferno. Sorry Monferno). Fire types are easiest to handle- they hit fast and hard, but don't tank things like steel types or the like.

Electric types are only weak against ground types and their moves can cause paralysis which can be helpful when catching pokemon and getting the first blow against an opponent. Most electric types have high speed (ex: Jolteon or Electrode) which guarantees a pre-emptive strike against any opposition. My most favorite pokemon is Raichu because of its cool tail and electric type moveset like Thunderbolt or Thunderwave.
