Not gonna start off with intro. Because most of you already know what mk is all about
The graphics for the super Nintendo version are very nice and smooth the coloring is also very accurate to the original mk1 arcade and it has most detail which appeared in the arcade version although the characters seem to be squishier than they should be I'm not sure why considering they did not have that feel in mk2. One thing that kind of bothers me in this version is how the characters seem bigger than the backgrounds to me it makes the games graphics feel pretty unbalanced. anyways graphics gets a 9 the characters being bigger than the backgrounds does make the graphics style feel a little unbalanced to me.
Sound well most arcade sound effects are here some are still missing. Such as the announcer saying flawless victory and falaity like it did in the arcade version stuff that should not really be the case here sense this was included in mortal kombat 2. Soundtrack I really like the soundtrack Its directly sampled with the arcade music. But it seems Sculptured software took it up a notch and gave the music much more of a king fu movie feel to it . That just makes the soundtrack more truthful to the arcade but more creepier and kick butt feel to it . Sound gets a 9 while the music track is accurate and great sounding there are some sound effects that are missing.
Addictiveness I'm not sure why but this port always seemed special to play its prop bally because this version of mortal wombat 1 had the most potineal . even without the gore in the game I still find the game very addicting do to the neat remixed soundtrack and harder game play. Addictiveness gets a 9 its still fun to play although this version lacks blood and gore
Story 5 in many other Mk game reviews I said it has the same story so I'm not gonna repeat myself besides most of you would most likely to know the mortal kombat storyline
Depth really the snes version is kind of hard to beat It offers the hidden character reptile and all other stuff . Mk didn't have a great number of characters until later on even then I think they had too many ninjas lol. anyways the snes version is at a harder difficulty and that would make the game longer lasting. Depth gets a 8 for this game
Difficulty ok most of you people may think censorshpping the blood and gore was the main reason do to this bad port think again most super Nintendo fans would not mind this, the main problem was the controls there seems do be a spilt second when you press a button and the action happens on the screen. This is why the port was kind of hard . Difficulty gets a 7 the spilt second controlling is pretty bad to get used to.
Overall ratings 6.5 its still a pretty decent version of mk1 that definitely had the most potineal . The spilt second lag in controlling will get irattting . and make the game very fustrating . I give the snes Version of mk1 a Grade D a okay port I'm my book .
at least its not as horrible as the game boy version of mk1
