The first anime that I saw was Rurouni Kenshin. My brothers and I used to get home from school and sit down and watch that show together. We even had to beg our parents on some of the days they got off work early so we wouldn't miss an episode.

First anime? That was a long time ago, I can't remember if it was Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh or Sonic-X. I'd get up Saturday morning and watch these shows every morning, then they got moved to 6am, and I didn't watch them as much, but some days I would still make the effort to watch them. I don't really watch them that much any more though.

My first anime was Pokémon. Then it started moving around to different channels, and when I found it again I was at the age where the repetitiveness of the show was apparent.

Since I don't consider Pokémon a anime so the first anime I've ever seen was Naruto, when it first aired on cartoon network Toonami back in 2005-2006.

The first anime I've ever seen, that I still continue to watch today, was Dragon Ball Z. It's probably also my favorite anime. I really got into it when I was younger. I still remember my friends drawing certain characters and making up little comics that consisted of Dragon Ball Z and other anime shows. I also watch Inuyasha, Bleach, and Full Metal Alchemist. I also found out about a show that my brother told me about that was only available on Netflix, and that show was Claymore. Even though it only lasted thirty-something episodes, it was still really awesome, in my opinion. Especially the music at the beginning of the show. Any bass fans out there would absolutely love it!

My definition of anime is an animated show with an actual story/story arc behind it. Therefore the first animated show to fit that description for me would have to be Pokémon(despite the fact I no longer watch the show(haven't really ever since he left Kanto)). Next anime after that for me was Code Lyoko and have been a big fan of it ever since.

I don't know exactly, but it was either Dragon Ball Z or Sailor Moon. I started watching both shows when I was 5 on Toonami.

DH110985 : Code Lyoko isn't a Japanese anime; rather, it's a French cartoon show modeled to look like anime and classified as one a lot (sort of like Avatar: The Last Airbender in the States). It's still an amazing show. I watched it myself for a couple of years before OnDemand took it off.

Dragonlord Stephi : Unless I am mistaken, anime is short for animation in Japanese and Japanese anime is hence Japanese animation. Japanese anime has a certain "style" and is why many people confuse Code Lyoko as a Japanese anime when in fact, Code Lyoko is produced in France(it is just influenced by the style as I see it). Hence Code Lyoko is essentially French anime. I never said Code Lyoko was a Japanese anime, but an anime I have seen. It's just when you see the word anime, its often connected to Japanese anime when there is anime from all around the world.

As I said before, I classify animation into two categories. In one category, I put animated shows with a story behind them as "anime"(since Japanese animation more often than not has a story behind it). The other category contains animation that does not and I call them cartoons(such as Mel Blanc voiced Looney Tunes or the Teen Titans GO! mockery that is on CN right now). If you want to see Code Lyoko again, check out the Television board and the Code Lyoko topic in there. Youtube has all 95 episodes of Code Lyoko, not including the 2 prequel episodes that aired prior to season 3. In the topic I have links to the season play lists(season 3 link has the prequel episodes) and links to the first 19 episodes of Code Lyoko Evolution(Code Lyoko's 5th season and episode 19 of Evolution hasn't even aired in France yet). I also have some critiques and what I would do to fix Evolution(its got its issues but its not as BAD as say the Airbender movie that basically butchered the memory of the show).

DH110985 : I'll definitely check it out. And yes, the Airbender movie was horrid. I saw it and would have rather watched the trailer for two hours instead.

Not counting Digimon, Pokémon, or Yu-Gi-Oh!, my first was Lucky Star. It made me want to watch more anime because of the millions of references in it.

My first anime was Doraemon.

But the "real" first one, which made me start to like anime, was Transformers: Galaxy Force (Cybertron in US).
