Hello everyone, I need your help with a problem I have on my chrono cross ISO, I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I'd put it in general. *If any admins know where to put this, pretty please move it for me* So I start the game with the disc 1 ISO, then it plays the [Awesome]intro, and I click new game. Then... black screen of death, nothing happens for like 3 minutes, should I wait longer..? Or do you need more information to help me? Any type of help is appreciated, thanks

It shouldnt go to a black screen, sounds like a graphical problem with your PC or emulator.
I have personally played this exact game file so it does work.
So some questions.
What emulator are you using?
Have you followed the steps outlined in https://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/thread.php?id=4630 if you use ePSXe?

If you are using pSX I recommend switching because its less compatible then ePSXe.

EpsxE, and I followed it, I'll try getting your graphic plugin, I have another one of his, but that one might work. I have no idea why it plays the intro and stuff then :/

Also I'm using version 1.60 of epsxe, I heard a new one came out so I'll try that too. Then I'll follow your directions to the absolute letter next time, everything I did how it said except for the plugin, I'll let you know if it solves anything. Thanks for the tip

yeah definatly use the new ePSXe its alot better and plays alot more. we have all the latest files you need on GYR (and mentioned in that thread).
if your pc can handle it, you can also go to video options for the plugin and choose the "Nice" option for an even better experience (i'll paste how to do it if you need)

The first room lags like hell and then if you go to the room at the left with the floting purple thing, it goes really fast. So two issues, 1: what framerate should I use? and 2: How can I fix the major slowdown? If you'd like I'll make a video on YouTube showing the problem.

This problem could have a lot to do with your computers hardware. Let us know of the following...

- OS
- Processor
- Ram
- Graphics card

If your hardware meets the recommended requirements then that should not be the problem. What programs are operating in the background? (virus scans, updates etc.)



If you have not tried petes softgpu plugin (P.E.Ops. Soft Driver 1.18), give that a try. Ive found it handles frame sync better. In its configuration screen make sure "Auto-detect FPS" is selected and make sure your running it in window mode.

Im afraid thats all the help I can be, sorry if that does not work for you. Good luck.

Actually i can say that that problem has nothing at all to do with specs.
I had those problems at the begining on my PC which is very high. I mean very high.
Chrono Cross is one of those few games that was very advanced so requires precision settings.
You shouldnt need the soft driver gtwalq mentioned but some custom settings.
First try setting the settings to "Nice" on Pete's DX6 D3D Driver, if its still giving you hassles try "Nice" on the OpenGL Driver as in some cases thats all you need.
If it still runs slow let me know and I'll go set it up again and get the exact settings I used.

Ok I think the soft plugin actually fixed it, but it still seems a little fast at the beginning, but then its on the spot. So I'll let you know if anymore problems come up, thanks guys!
