...Geez,did i just get a Game Over? Well,in that case...Yeeeeeeah!
In this game,Losing Means Winning! Okay, not really...but,this is one of those games that became memorable because of a number of factors. First,Sega Rally Championship is really hard. But,when you lose, you get greeted by a screen showing Game Over...but that's not all! The narrator says : "Game Over Yeeeeeah!" when you lose,so you feel like you've won! But you didn't.
So,let's see what i have to say about this game,hm? Well,it is a racing game based on Rally races,in which you have to go through courses, working your way up to 1st place. There are two game modes, meaning this is one of the few arcade games that allow you to choose which game mode you want to play. Now,that's all fair and square, but when the race starts, you will find yourself ricocheting off walls. This is not pinball you know...it is hard to get a feel for the controls, but that's just part of the charm of Sega Rally Championship.
It is a pretty unfair game, because the CPU gets a head start, while you have to start from last place. It is a struggle to be able to pass someone in this game. But,again, that's part of the charm of Sega Rally Championship. There are two cars you can choose from, you can choose either manual or automatic transmission. That's nice. You have a selection of three tracks, being the that the desert one is the only one that is actually easy enough so that you can beat the CPU in practice mode.
In Championship mode, you have to race on all the three tracks, while that in practice you only race on one track of your choice. Also,in practice mode, there is only one opponent. In championship mode, there are many more competitors. You also have to pay attention to the time count.when you pass through a checkpoint, you get a few extra counts, but when it reaches zero,it's game over! Yeah! Isn't that awesome? You've just lost! Let's celebrate! ...ok,that wasn't quite fun...but,i believe you got the gist of things, and how they work.
Overall,it's a pretty great game.It takes some time for anyone to get used to it. Now,it's race time! And remember, nothing is better than losing in this game! Urgent EDIT! : This game is unplayable for now. But if you find a Sega Model 2 Emulator, use it. Everything except Mame works with this game. So sorry about that...well,see you now. ...Geez,did i just get a Game Over? Well,in that case...Yeeeeeeah!
