What happens when you get Banjo-Kazooie,and you mix it with portability? You get : Banjo-Kazooie : Grunty's Revenge! This game is just as nostalgic as any recent Zelda or Mario game.

The story is that after the events of Banjo-Kazooie,Grunty's been stuck under a rock since ever. Then,Klungo comes up with an idea : he builds a mecha-grunty,and then Gruntilda uses her magic to transfer her spirit from under the rock into the mecha-grunty. Then, she kidnaps Kazooie, then she travels through time to the past,to make sure that Banjo and Kazooie never meet up. By doing this, she creates a time paradox, where she has never been defeated, and the present becomes a mess. To set things right,Mumbo Jumbo sends Banjo into the past,so that he can rescue Kazooie, and together they can defeat Grunty once and for all.

There are 6 Worlds in this game, and a Lobby from which you can go to whichever world you want. You have to collect a certain number of Jiggies, which can be obtained by completing mini-games,going through difficulty areas,or simply beating enemies. This gives Banjo-Kazooie : Grunty's Revenge a Super Mario 64 feel. It's one of those games where you go for 100% completion rate, because if you don't,the game becomes dull.

You will start out only with Banjo, and you will learn new moves as you collect Musical Notes. There are certain places that can you can only reach once you've learned a certain move. This makes backtracking necessary, but it's not necessarily bad.
The game has a lot to offer. You can exchange Mumbo Tokens for transformations with Mumbo Jumbo, which allows you to access even more areas than before. You can turn into a mice,an octopus, and even a war tank! You will also acquire Eggs, which will serve as ammunition for shooting afar. And there are 4 different types of eggs, which allows you to access even more places you couldn't before.

Even so,the game is a little short. The boss battles are interesting and not dull, but there aren't many bosses in the game. After you have acquired a certain number of Jiggies, you will be able to visit Gruntilda's Tower of Doom, which is a mix between Boss Rush,Quizzes and Mini-games that you must complete in order to advance. It's a real test, one that will annoy you a lot. The ending is not really special,it's more about the gameplay. If you enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie on the N64,you will also enjoy this game. Have lots of fun getting those Jiggies!
