I just found this bur I was posting and I went to the new posts page... I found a guest on the new posts page.

How did this happen? Normally, only users can access the page. When guests try to use the link to the page, they get sent to a page that says: "Only users can view this page." But guests can get the new posts link after they log out and can use it to view the page and when you get on the new posts page when a guest is on the same, you will find a guest beside your name on the "on page" part of the new posts under the post radar. (If you have one)

Never thought this would happen, but then I find that guests are on pages where you submit your post/thread on the board. I actually saw it before, and this shouldn't happen.

Eh, as long as they aren't posting, I don't see a big problem. Maybe letting them see what some of the threads are would motivate them to register so they can post there too.

rcarter2 : The new posts might still be restricted to guests, but guests can view all forum threads in the public. All private forums are restricted from guests, newbies, and normal members. Not sure if letting guests view latest threads can be allowed here, but guests do go around the forums on the board, viewing threads. I actually had someone sign up from my thirdstyle account.

It could be that online.php loads on that page, and even when guest gets the error message, it reports them as being there. If Vizzed has anonymous browsing (And I don't care to look if it does or not) then that might be what's happening. In any case, nothing malacious can come of it, since users still can't post--unless you mean they're looking at newreply.php, in which case this is a security risk.

I not sure, but no matter where in life or in internet, you will always find glitch so. Yeah, I not even sure to be honest, but i think that the guest are possibly hacker, or not.

On another board I frequent, they had a problem with the online users page, where a "botnet" (whatever that is) of sorts was set to continually refresh the online users page.

It's possible someone set up a botnet, and wanted to slow down the site. However... the only way to be sure would be to have the IP of the "guests" checked up on.

legacyme3 : If that were the case they probably would have put a more resource intensive page as the target, like the board index, your Ask Anything thread, or the photo album. That page, even if it loads, isn't exactly a strain on the server, and if you're a guest, it doesn't even display, so that would be a pretty poor attempt at a DDoS attack.
