It has been a few days since I have made a review, mainly because I wasn't sure of what game I wanted to review. However, this game Pokémon Fire Red has been popping up in my mind to review several times, so I figured why not? Now overall I really enjoyed this game, it was a nice faster paced remake of the original Pokémon Red Version, with a little bit added for instance the Sevii Islands which where not in the original games and the addition of third Gen Pokémon which where not around when Red and Blue came out. There was one thing I had a problem with, and I don't know if anyone else really feels this way maybe for some it is really helpful, but the fact that the game helps you a LOT. Say you are in battle and you accidentally hit the L or R trigger button on your GBA (or your computer keyboard, whatever you are using) you will see this menu that explains everything about the battle system. This also happens when you are not in battle but wandering around the world. It got kind of annoying, especially since it is just a Pokémon game and you can simply figure everything out by just hitting the button.

Although the game suddenly started treating you like you were a completely new gamer, it was a fun game and I had a wonderful time playing it. That is why I rated the game a 9.5, it was fun and had more than Red Version did, but I still don't think it can compete with Red. If given the choice between Fire Red and Red Version, I would choose Red Version hands down. But for nowadays Pokémon fans, this game is great. It lets the newer Pokémon generation experience what we older fans had but with the graphics and speed that they are used too. This is why I rated the graphics and sound a 9, for me they didn't compare to the older Gameboy graphics or sound but it was a lot nicer to see more colorful and the sound had more tone and clarity to them then the older versions. And I think many people will enjoy looking at them and listening to the game.

As for the addictiveness, even though like I said I would rather play regular old Red Version I still gave this a 10 because it is really no different aside from graphics, sound and the extension that was added after defeating the Elite Four and your Rival for the first time. What really got me to stay playing this game once I reached the rest of the Sevii Islands, is something I think is a brilliant idea. You must look around the Sevii Islands for a Ruby Gem and a Shappire Gem and once you have found them and brought them to the first Pokémon center you see at the islands (One Island) then you can trade Pokémon with Ruby and Shappire versions (however, in Ruby and Shappire you must have defeated the Elite Four at least once). It helps fill the Pokedex twice as fast and it is kind of cool to see two completely different generations combine like that.

For the depth I rated the game a 7, it was longer and had more to offer than the original Red Version (as mentioned above). It was actually a really cool game, and it kind of took me a while to get through the Sevii Islands on my first run through. Another thing that I found interesting that was added to the game was the Eggs, now you can leave two Pokémon at the Daycare center and if you are lucky when you come back to pick them up, the Daycare man or woman will tell you that one of them had an egg and you can hatch it for a completely new Pokémon. Pretty convenient right?

Now for the difficulty, I rated this a 5. It really wasn't that hard especially if you have already played Red or Blue Version. The only part that was any challenging and to be completely honest it wasn't entirely that hard at all was the Sevii Islands. But I don't think that how hard a Pokémon game is should cloud anyone's judgement of the game, because they where meant for younger audiences.

I hope that you all enjoyed this review, and if you haven't already played this game I hope you consider it. It is a fun game, and a rather interesting remake of the originals. And for the newer fans who decide to play this, I hope that you consider trying the older versions just to see what we experienced when Pokémon Mania was in full swing. I had a wonderful time playing this game and writing this review and I hope to write another one very soon. Thank you for reading.
