Ok.

I never got far in the original Sim City. I always went bankrupt within a few years and people always complained about my taxes. I guess I'm not a very good mayor.

Let's see... I've played: SimCity (PC/SNES), SimCity2000 (PC/SNES), The Sims (PC), The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA), and The Sims 3 (PC)

I loved the original SimCity and could play it for hours even today. I think I was a fairly decent mayor though pollution always wreaked havoc on my cities and was easily the #1 largest complaint. I was able to get my population and money up pretty well in spite of this though. It's just those stupid industrial zones that are a necessity despite rising pollution dramatically wherever they're placed.

I could never get into SimCity 2000 though... I dunno what it was, but it just wasn't the same. Maybe it was just too complicated for when I played it (I was a kid). I might hafta try it again now that I'm not as dumb as I was when I was 8 :p it was just hard for me to do anything in it after coming off of SimCity and being really good with it.

The original Sims game was pretty neat. I like the idea of creating your own little customized people to run around and do stuff better than managing a whole city. The Sims zooms in to the individual level of a single person or family. I'm also a sucker for any system that lets me create myself in the game.

Bustin' Out was kind of a disappointment for me but only because I expected a portable version of the Sims and instead got an adventure game. Instead of creating a family of Sims that autonomously carry out their lives on their own under your supervision, this game has you create a single character to represent yourself and control directly. It plays more like a regular video game than a Sims game. Once I got past this and treated it like an adventure game, it wasn't too bad.

I skipped Sims 2 to go to Sims 3... now massively improved over the first game in every aspect. It retains the basic fun that I loved with the first Sims and adds all sorts of enhancements and better graphics to make better-looking Sims. I modded the crap out of that game and created an awesome experience. I think I played the game almost non-stop for months it was so addicting.
