Has anyone ever seen the Alien Vs Predator arcade back when it was released 1994 before it was released as a movie in 2004? Well, I only remember glancing at it one in a special arcade I used to visit, and then 5 years later confused on why movie adaptions of Video Games were usually not what I'd expect them to be. Well, if you have seen this game, or even heard about it, or come across it on youtube, or even in a certain Street Fighter game where Linn Kurosawa could be seen bathing in a hot spring, then you probably might be figuring something out in terms of the release dates.
This arcade game is 10 years older than or maybe less if you count the development stage of the AVP movie? Why was there no Linn Kurosawa, or Arnold Schwarzenegger when he acted in predator? Why weren't the Aliens a result of a mistake made during an experiment by the U.S. Colonial Marine? Why wasn't San Drad California in Alien Apocalypse? Many more questions can be asked, but the main one is, what happened to the plot? Well, according to wikipedia, "The game was based on an early draft of a script for a film adaptation of the Alien vs. Predator comic book series and was intended to have been a tie-in to the movie"
It's kinda sad when you think about it because, just all the possible action sequences and the idea of humans and aliens fighting together from the start, would have been pretty intense. Perhaps there would simply be too much action because of it and a harder job to accomplish than the director had imagined. But still, if it was also supposed to be an adaption of a comic book series, then maybe there wouldn't have been so much problems. So why?
If anything, perhaps there is a code that all directors go by where they intentionally toss the script to any movie they want to make out of a video game and just do as they please, like with tekken, street fighter, king of fighters, and super mario bros.
It's nice to see that Vizzed.com is hosting mame now, for I feel that such an excellent beat em up needs some recognition for the work Capcom put into the game. For those who have tried it, tell me what you think about the game. Have you tried any juggle combos? Cool Techniques? Who is your favorite character? What's your favorite part in the game?
Present any opinions you have on the game, or maybe even on the idea that this could have been a possibility for a movie. I'd be happy to know. Also, how do you think this game compares to other beat em ups like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Ninja Baseball Batman, and the rest.
I also happen to be doing a let's play of the game but...I stopped for the time after I found out Vizzed.com is hosting mame, and because I do my best to represent the site and show my love for it and help present that family friendly gaming community to those who don't know about it, I might...might, go back to AVP and do a vizzed represented let's play like I do with other vizzed games. If I had netplay and a way to catch audio from other players, then we put our opinions into the game at the same time as we play.
I do hope AVP arcade becomes more popular on Vizzed.com. Has anyone ever seen the Alien Vs Predator arcade back when it was released 1994 before it was released as a movie in 2004?
