I don't know if it is just me, but I feel that Vizzed has quietened down quite a lot since I joined. Back then there were some real big guns, respected mods and a general feeling of awe amongst them, but now I am not sure that such big characters exist?

There used to be 'fights', bannings and all sorts of sanctions and rows but I don't feel that energy anyone.

There also seems to be a new breed of mods, that seem to annoy rather then resolve in a different way to the old guard. What happens when a newbie is rapdily promoted through the ranks and 'tells' off someone who has had nearly everyjob on Vizzed?

I am not making any judgements here, in fact my useage has cut back a bit from what it was with my new commitments, but I am not sure how Vizzed works anymore or its purpose.

I like to play the odd game but feel the Vizzed boards have lost their edge a little. I don't know and perhaps you can advsise me if it is to do with all the private memebers forums that now exist that take the attention away from the main forums.

Do we know if Vizzed still gets the hits and sign ups like it used to? What about the drop out rate or number of dormant members?

I seem to still get a steady stream of referralls and post a good number of threads but never got any recognition apart from David on that front. I am not into popularity contests but who is popular here and how did they get to be so?

There is no politics in this posting, so please don't read any into it, I am not thinking of anyone as I write it or any specific incidences so please don't feel accused or singled out, I honestly can't think or am in the habit of ever doing so, so please don't confuse me with a person who does, I am here to open a debate.

If I generally feel something then I know that others on Vizzed do and have not voiced it so I know that I am not the only person who may have something to say, so I would like to open up a wide debate on the matter and take a good look at the state of Vizzed and hold an open review.

This is our website and we only get out what we put into it. I would love every member to comment here, I wonder if there is a way to summon all Vizzed members like a group email to tell them to have their say and talk about the things that concern them as I know that the leadership are made up of us and we are a responsive and caring group of people who will do our best to respond.

Who is the most active user? Who is the most technical? Who keeps Vizzed running, by that I mean with David and not put work soley on his mighty shoulders.

I do not know how much contact everyone has with eachother outside of Vizzed, friendship groups and the like etc. But do you feel that this plays a role in Vizzed and how it operates?

Who still uses the chat forums are they still popular? I used to like the old format till an outsider hacked it and made it not work, now it does not have the charm ut used to.

Can we make a top 10 of users, Vizzed players, but one that is different to the Vizzed awards, one from us a user awards based system. As the other feels too political and there needs to be more then one awards based system? What's your opinion? why is the matter so touchy, or not? when I have raised it in the past? Is there a history to this, or not?

So any thoughts, ideas, concerns, suggestions and the like would be most welcome here, I am trying to build a current picture of vizzeds health a review a survey, a judgement or not, of its state of health from you the active or not so active membership.

It would be good to hear from all of you again and see how you are getting on. How much you tap into Vizzed what for and what you do here now. Has your useage changed, has your experience gone up. What posts have you had or aim to?

I agree, when I first visited Vizzed I had the feeling that there were a lot of people hanging out, posting a lot and etc.

During these times, apparently it really looks like Vizzed activity dropped.

And new people are coming to get Staff positions, soem of the old Staff members quit or retired, like Geeogree, Geeo retired not long ago.

Sorry if I couldn't give my opinion better, it's because I'm tired and sleepy.

"There used to be 'fights', bannings and all sorts of sanctions and rows but I don't feel that energy anyone. "

The fact the energy isn't here anymore is a GOOD THING. :|

I stopped reading your post once it became clear that your post has little actual substance and seems solely for the sake of word count++.

"Do we know if Vizzed still gets the hits and sign ups like it used to? What about the drop out rate or number of dormant members?"

It actually gets more. Much more.

From 1-1-2011 to 12-31-2011, around 73,500 or so members registered (as per the memberlist)

From 1-1-2012 to 8-1-2012, over 89,000 people have registered. 16,000 more people in about 5 less months. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to find we're growing. There's no such thing as a "drop out rate" since most people who sign up use the RGR, which is how most of us found this site in the first place.

The only real change in the past year has been the community. The mods themselves are virtually the same people who were modding a year ago. The only major differences being the loss of geeogree and noelia as well as a few locals here and there.

"Who is the most active user? Who is the most technical? Who keeps Vizzed running, by that I mean with David and not put work soley on his mighty shoulders."

Active - me
Technical - Probably tRIUNE
Running - David and the entire community as a whole.

No, my usage hasn't changed, because I see Vizzed for what it is, rather than what it used to be. You can whine about the past and how great it was if you want, but that's not conducive to making the current community, the one that matters, any better. All it does is irritate people.

I just want to say that it seems like you're going off in a million different directions. It would help to follow your post if you stuck to only a couple ideas and simply expounded upon those.

Leggy is right about the fights. The fewer we have, the better we are. Period. Sure we still have some controversies, but the worst of them either involve members that have irritated much of the membership's current frequenters or just disagreements on proclaimed truths. I have not always been happy with the way some of our staff performed, but I have done my duty by filing reports; I have no say in how situations should be handled. Overall, I believe the site has improved with how the members interact with each other.

Vizzed's membership is, without a doubt, accelerating --Leggy's post confirmed my notions. The Board's activity has not increased like it did last year --despite the technical difficulties we suffered. Many of our top posters have gone inactive for various reasons including real life necessities and content adding for the RGR and VGR. Not only that, but we have seen an increase in the number of newbies posting all over the Board and not just the Newbie Forum. Unfortunately these two circumstances have discouraged some of us regulars from posting. We have not stopped posting, we just do not do as much as we used to. Another thing worth noting would be that the Memberlist now defaults onto listing members by post experience instead of post count. This may have influenced how some people, including myself, go about participating in the forums.

I would imagine Leggy also has an accurate view on who the most active members are. Leggy does all he can to keep the forums alive and interesting tRIUNE is constantly making contributions to the RGR, but he still hangs out on the forums when he has the time. As for running the board, it really does take all of us to keep things rolling.

I would not say my activity has dropped so much as it has adjusted to go for post experience and quality contributions in today's trending topics.

I agree with what leggy's saying, there shouldn't be fighting. I know it's the internet and the people you're talking with are (unless you've acctually met them) basically pieces of digital text on a webpage and your bound to row, but rowing should not take place on what I would classify as a family friendly board (Which reminds me, someone TAKE DOWN my Wolfenstein 3D GBA Review, there's bad words in that). I get what the original poster was TRYING to say about the whole "energy" thing but it just doesn't seem right to me. I mean, I get "energy" just from posting in the Vizzed camp.
the whole message is: MAKE PEACE NOT WAR (Or something like that)
-------------------------------------------
In terms of activity, since the RGR opened the site's popularity has EXPLODED. I joined to acctually use the forums but I can see why the RGR has contributed to the sites massive popularity increase. tRIUNE Has done amazing work in the RGR and I can't wait to see what he and the RGR dev. team do next. Leggy's dedication in the board is second to none. I can't stress enough about how much he's sone and how much he's helped people in the Boards.
------------------------------------------
My usage only really changed when I joined Vizzed camp and when I got on the Site Staff for about 2 weeks

Well, obviously me for the most active Vizzed member (in my dreams). Well I think the most active Vizzed member is probably Leggy, he makes like 5,000 posts a day. Another active member is thing1: hes pretty active as well.

This thread is funny - shouldn't the globals be the big guns? In reality yeah. So maybe we can rate the globals into separate ranks lol

Perhaps there are other people here who have a "higher status" than the globals.

tRIUNE :

geeogree and David. Take your pick.

For the most part, the globals ARE the big guns. That's how we got to be globals. By being the best at what we do.

Back then there were some real big guns, respected mods and a general feeling of awe amongst them, but now I am not sure that such big characters exist?

I feel like these "Big characters" still exist. Certainly Leggy and Geeogree are huge characters on the site, and a lot of the regulars are pretty well known by the member base, too. Heck, we still even have the spammers that everyone hates. They know who they are. You probably just don't feel like they still exist because you don't post as much, and you never read any threads. Or at least it seems like you don't, because you don't participate in the community aside from posting huge, incoherent threads.

There also seems to be a new breed of mods, that seem to annoy rather then resolve in a different way to the old guard. What happens when a newbie is rapdily promoted through the ranks and 'tells' off someone who has had nearly everyjob on Vizzed?

I feel like this is passively directed at me, because I got on you a bit a little while ago, but this is because most mods knew you pretty well and, myself included, we didn't really check up on your threads because you had a good amount of respect. But once I saw a copy-paste thread from you, I decided to watch you a bit. Remember that it only takes one mistake to make people more weary of your intentions. As long as you keep following the rules though, nobody will 'tell' you off, and if anyone does, report them to the Local inbox and we'll take care of it. If you have a problem with a Local, the report it to the Global inbox or to Leggy himself.

I like to play the odd game but feel the Vizzed boards have lost their edge a little. I don't know and perhaps you can advsise me if it is to do with all the private memebers forums that now exist that take the attention away from the main forums.

The private forums are all pretty much dead, and get fewer posts than most of the rented forums.

I seem to still get a steady stream of referralls and post a good number of threads but never got any recognition apart from David on that front. I am not into popularity contests but who is popular here and how did they get to be so?

I don't feel qualified to tell you who's popular here right now, because I don't really pay attention to that sort of stuff, but they got popular by making a lot of post, usually a lot of good posts. They make and, more importantly, reply to threads. Just making threads isn't enough, you have to engage in the community, and hold conversations, otherwise, even if you make 20 threads a day, nobody will really know who you are, because they don't get a back and forth dialog with you.

There's also another class of popular users which are mostly a clique that stays in the chat. They go in there almost daily, and are well known by other chat users, but not really on the forum.

Who keeps Vizzed running, by that I mean with David and not put work soley on his mighty shoulders.

Daivd keeps the site running all by himself, and it's not because we "put work solely on his shoulders" but because he doesn't want help. There have been numerous instances of users, mods and otherwise, offering assistance with site-related stuff, only to be told that David prefers to do stuff on his own. This is because he's been burned in the past by administrators, so he's a bit apt to not let others have power.
