The Elder Scrolls series has been around for a very long time.  From the first games on the computer, to the upcoming online game, also on the computer, they have been everywhere on the gaming circuit for a long time.  The fifth story in the series takes place in the world of Skyrim, which is also the game title.  This was my first Elder Scrolls game, even though I have played Oblivion (I bought it for a month, than promptly returned it due to the horrible graphics and boring storyline), so I was surprised at first at what I saw.  For example, I thought that dragons were a staple in all the Elder Scrolls games, and that the controls seemed similar to Fallout controls (in about 15 minutes after first playing I would notice that the game is made by Bethesda, who made the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series').  As you can tell, I was unaware about what happened in the game.  But over time, I would learn to appreciate how much work was put into this game and learn how to play the game (even though I cannot alchemy or make my own food in the Bethesda games to save my life).

Graphics 9:  The graphics are extremely good for a PS3 game, but there are some technical graphic problems that are in the game.  For example, I don't think that random people are supposed to float around and sink in to the floor, unless they really want to confuse us.  Also, I like how realistic the graphics are, but you can never tell if they made the dragons realistic, mainly because you have probably never seen a dragon before in your life (living, not fake like the ones at Chinese New Year).  Overall, they get the job done well, but sometimes they are just really strange.

Sound 10:  First off, the theme music is absolutely amazing for the game.  I am amazed at how they got a real barbarian choir to perform a song for the video game.  Then, you have the in game music, which is sometimes creepy.  But, I will be quick to point out, that The City Gates (yes it is a song) is an absolutely gorgeous song that really highlights the stringed instruments (my personal bias), which contributes to the ten.  Finally, the general dialogue gets a perfect 10, just because of the stupid line they put in there.  For example "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee", and "Let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll" are absolutely pointless to the game and don't need to be there.  But, that just adds a new dynamic to the game that we have not seen in a game in a long time.

Addictiveness 10:  There is no question that this is probably the best game of 2011, just because it is that dynamic in how the game play works.  I really could not put this game, based on three factors of the game.  One of them is the amount of quests in the game.  I think there are 550+, and they usually are part of one storyline, so I had to finish the story lines in one sitting.  The second reason is how dynamic the sound is.  You may be wondering how sound can tie into addictiveness, but it really can.  For example, I always have to listen to music, and since this game has so good music, I would play it just to listen to the music.  The final reason I think this game is so addictive is the general killing of dragons.  If you fast travel from place to place, you can encounter dragons much more than what you would if you just traveled regularly.  I would just fast travel to fight dragons, and I think my record is 56 without dying.  Nevertheless, this game is really addicting even if you don't agree with those three reasons.

Story 9:  This is one of the more in depth stories I have seen in a while, but only if you count how many side stories there are.  If you were to leave the story alone, you would only see this get an 8, but the side quests definitely bring up the rating a lot.  In the story, you start off in the same way other Elder Scrolls games started:  As a prisoner.  You are traveling with the rebel group of Skyrim:  The stormcloaks.  The reality is, though, that they really are fighting for their independence.  The Imperials have taken over Skyrim and are in a very bloody war over the province, which is actually a huge side quest you can do.  The real main quest is how you are the ______________ and you kill the __________s to save the world.  This will lead you through a whole huge optional quest line to go with the original quest line.

Depth 10:  As I stated earlier, there are a TON of side quests that you can do while you progress through the game.  Not only can you do that, though, but you also just run around with your head cut off and run anywhere and do anything you want.  For example, you can take my idea and just run around and kill dragons, and maybe even kill some dragon priests while you are at it.  The point is, you can do so much in this game that it is easily the deepest game created in a long time.

Difficulty 7:  This game is not terribly difficult, but it is definitely difficult.  Whenever you play the game, you should notice that the game is a little hard.  But, after you get the controls down, you will be able to breeze through the game easily.

Overall 10:  This game is really a fun medieval type game that will keep you occupied for hundreds of hours.  I would recommend this game to anyone, based on the fact that this game is really that amazing to play.

I've really never played Skyrim before. Yeah, I think leggy might kill me for not playing Skyrim. I have seen some video and it looks pretty fun. I might want to find a copy of the game so my sister and I can play it
