July 11th-July 13th - Day 6

So... I'll admit I completely forgot to write this until about a day after the previous contest. But I'll also admit that this is not a huge deal, as this is only the camp blog. Who even reads this damn thing!

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right

Or as I affectionately have to refer to them from now on, Laziness Cabin. Odds are, if you are part of this cabin, you fall into one of these molds.

A - You quit camp
B - You love over-sleeping and missing activities
C - You are too cool to do the challenges

Unfortunately, these are not paramount to team success, as people are quickly finding. Luckily however, maybe they are turning the corner?

For once they did WELL on a challenge, having one of the better team chants. You can thank MegaRevolution1 who has effectively put herself in the Assistant Captain role (to a rock).

Speaking of A Rock, where has he been? Did his magical rock-magic run out? Or is he simply up to grander things, like being a robo-pirate in space? If anyone finds him, be sure to alert the ninja penguins.

2nd - Trailmachines: Fellowship of the Right
Total Points - 83 points

-----

Cabin 2 - The Ultimate Vizzards

Herpa. Derp. Derpderpderp. Yes, that is effectively what we can all say to The Ultimate Vizzards now, as they basically admitted to being derpy. I don't know whether it was shock factor, or the fact that self-deprication is funny, but they had the funniest chant, which netted them loads of bonus points despite a substandard chant.

If you really want to point fingers at who to thank though... Seishiro Leonhart once again provided the team's top submission, although this time to a lesser reward. Stick to the gaming challenges!

thing1 really appears to be gone, at least for the time being. Whether his absence helps or hurts this (basically) leadershipless team remains to be seen. Of course, all the other cabins appear to be pleased with the results.

3rd - The Ultimate Vizzards
Total Points - 167

-----

Cabin 3 - Slam Dunk Base

WHO ARE THEY?

SLAM DUNK BASE THATS WHO.

They've had a recent run of strong showings, and gotten help from unexpected sources. Their chant may not have been great, but it wasn't bad either. It seems they really are taking to being underdogs in their own right.

If I was basing teams off Hogwarts houses, this team would be Hufflepuff. (But then again, so would The Vizzards really). I guess what makes them so... underdoggy, is that they have the tools to succeed.

If they keep this up, maybe they will perform well despite not being close friends like the other cabins.

Not only are they not close friends, but I see some trying to take every opportunity to stay away from their team. They rarely spend time in their decked out cabin anymore... where are they going with their free time?

1st - Slam Dunk Base
Total Points - 168

-----

Cabin 4 - The Fighting Mongooses

For sure a disappointing outing for a team that has mostly dominated all competition.

Who is to blame other than tj4bigred who somehow managed to take 3 or 4 good chants, melt them together, and make the worst abomination that their team has ever had the audacity to show the supreme judge overlord Camp Counselor Leggy.

Fortunately, their strong play to this point will keep them at the top despite their worst showing yet. They obviously hope to rebound by showing their video game martial arts skills in Double Dragon.

tj4bigred is a big evil mean doody head who likes pooping on the good work of others. Jerk

4th - The Fighting Mongooses
Total Points - 215 Points

-----

I'm going to take this time to introduce a new feature. We'll see how much ground teams have gained/lost on each other...

Team Rankings!
Rank - Team - Points (Points gained on first)
1st - The Fighting Mongooses - 215 points (0)
2nd - Slam Dunk Base - 168 points (+50)
3rd - The Ultimate Vizzards - 167 points (+35)
4th - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right - 83 points (+35)

----

Slam Dunk Base's impressive outing pushed them above the Vizzards! Could they push above the Mongooses? With another few outings like this... yes. Yes they could!

That's all we have for you today! Tune in later for even more juicy news/gossip/ego padding!

July 14th-July 16th - Day 7

OK OK... I completely forgot. That and you guys were hardly entertaining during this stretch of time!

Anyway... to recap, they did a Double Dragon scoring competition...

-----

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: Fellowship of Right

What do I have to do to get more people involved on this team? Seriously? This was just a simple high score contest, and only 2 people participated. At least they followed directions. 100% of all people from this cabin who participated used Time Trial AS SPECIFIED.

pokemon x is their most valuable player so far! And I'm not kidding, it's because of him and MegaRevolution1 that this team is even still in it. They need the rest of the team to get involved, or it's curtains for them.

It appears that everyone from silverthundr to Snowdeath have gone down with a case of the "I lost interestitis".

2nd - pokemon x - 20 points - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right
Total Points - 103 Points

-----

Cabin 2 - The Ultimate Vizzards

The return of JigSaw! Just what this cabin needed to take control of the team... unfortunately, he's just not very good at Double Dragon.

But one person did get them on the podium... Seishiro Leonhart has proven to be the team's top gamer, although outside of gaming there's very little he has yet to offer. But that's not a problem. Being a team competition, everyone has to do their part.

Another item of minor note - this cabin is the most active, by far. The Mongooses are active enough to win, but often times, especially with gaming challenges, only 3 or 4 people MAX seem to take part. With the Vizzards, they had 6 people take part... that's insane.

At this point, I'm also going to apologize to Matthew2321. He should have been on the podium, but I actually mistook his name for someone else... can you blame me? Buncha noobs!

Anyway, I'll just give him 5 points as well, considering he would have placed where Seishiro did. And I know you may ask "But why not just change Seishiro to Matthew? They are on the same team." but my rebuttal is "lol who cares, it's 5 points. They deserve it for hard work."

Some expected this cabin to be completely freaking useless... but they aren't so bad. They are actually proving to be tough competition compared to some teams.

4th - Matthew2321 - 5 points - The Ultimate Vizzards
5th - Seishiro Leonhart - 5 points - The Ultimate Vizzards
The Ultimate Vizzards - 10 points for participation
Total Points - 187 Points

-----

Cabin 3 - Slam Dunk Base

Anyone else smell that? Smell what? The cooking? Nope, me either. Whatever they had going the other day seems to have completely gone out.

All of THREE people even participated in this challenge, and one of them didn't use Time Trial, so they were DQ'd from the team competition.

And to make matters worse? They didn't even get anyone on the podium, so they end up with a big fat goose egg in today's competition, making them the worst team on the day. Where were crazycatpup, pacman1755, and NovemberJoy? Those guys are the heavy hitters right?

Well they'll have plenty of time to redeem themselves... it's only been a little over a week or two right?

I have it on good authority that pi0x is definitely not switching over to Slam Dunk Base at any time soon... it may sound odd... but I am pretty sure he'll stay with the Vizzards for now.

No placers in competition.
Total Points - 168 Points

Cabin 4 - The Fighting Mongooses

A return to dominance. I'm sure this is refreshing for KG, tj4bigred, and sonicmcmuffin as they were pretty disappointed in the lack of participation last time.

But enough about them, let's talk about how they did.

rcarter2 showed exactly why this team is expected to dominate. Before his return, the team was dominant at everything that WASN'T a gaming competition. Now that he's here... it will take a lot more effort to take them down...

But not lost on this is mlb789 who was more than a match for most, as he also claimed a top 4 spot pretty easily. They may not have had the participation award, but they CRUSHED it as a team.

And no, no one from the team is sleeping with me. They are winning totally legitly. I am NOT giving them favors. So stop the rumors!

1st - rcarter2 - 30 points - The Fighting Mongooses
3rd - mlb789 - 10 points - The Fighting Mongooses
The Fighting Mongooses - 20 points for winning
Total Points - 275 Points

-----

The Mongooses may push ahead... but... Slam Dunk Base is the one to watch right now. The Trailmachines are actually catching up to them, and we may see a change for the struggling Trailmachines... that'd be nice eh?

pi0x switching teams?

lol, From where did that come?

However, we're not dead yet... We still can punch Moongooses away, with or without JigSaw.

July 17th-20th - Day 8

Don't blame me, blame the internet.

-----

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: Fellowship of Right

It was... a sad day for the cabin. On the one hand, silverthundr actually participated. On the other hand... Someone70 stepped down from global, and all but announced she'd be less active on Vizzed. That's a blow to be sure.

But once you get past that, it wasn't a bad day for the cabin. There was a lack of fighting and drama. Something they've desperately needed to keep in check.

But they had a great idea... compliments of nintendoninja64, the resident newbie of the team. In fact, the idea was so good, it won for the team.

Despite the win, they are so far behind the Mongooses... it's going to take a real push to get back into contention... maybe it's time for A Rock to return to action?

1st - 20 points - nintendoninja64 - RGR Music Hunt - Trailmachines
3rd - 5 points - silverthundr (trailmachnes) - tiramisu

Total Points - 128 Points

-----

Cabin 2 - The Ultimate Vizzards

Yawn, an uninspiring effort from the team, but at least they did something. It's not that their ideas were bad... they were good, they just all would have required too much effort to work right.

Debate Competition, a Mario Paint Competition (doesn't even work for me, so I don't know how well it works for others), a Mario Paint Song (not many people even have the ability to make music), and a posting competition?

Probably the most sensible one was a Streets of Rage high score competition.

JigSaw once again was the most valuable player for the team even though they didn't place.

The worst thing possible happened though! They were raided in the night! None of them have underwear anymore. I hope they don't mind wearing pants over the sensitive areas. No offense, but no one at Vizzed Camp wants to see these guys naked!

No placers

Total Points - 187 Points

-----

Cabin 3 - Slam Dunk Base

Remember what I said about The Vizzards having an uninspiring effort? These guys had an uninspiring LACK of effort. Only jlh even got a submission in.

Wasn't good enough to win, but hey, at least he tried.

Cabin 4 - The Fighting Mongooses

Domination? Not today.

Much to the chagrin of several cabin mates... they did not win the competition. They tried to insist I wasn't being fair, and that there is no way I could have spurned their amazing ideas for a "music" competition.

However, they forget... I love music.

The Mongooses are a little bit... I dunno, tired. They seem to have lost the momentum they had at the start.

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right

For once, the cabin was absolutely POPPING with activity. Everyone on the team save for a few people (like Snowdeath) participated, and this led to GREAT results for the team.

For the first time for them, they had more than 1 or 2 good entries. They had a load of them.

The big names to thank however, are silverthundr, Someone70, and becerra95 who finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively in the music search competition!

They had one DQ, but it doesn't figure to hurt them, as the entry wasn't all that good. They will wonder though, "what if?"

At last check, becerra95 announced a move... or a visit, or whatever. Now he's in the NYC. Or whatever. His words, not mine.

3rd - silverthundr : Megaman Battle Network 5 (version doesn't matter) - 20 points - Trailmachines

I just saved you ten minutes of your life. You want to know why?

Because that's EXACTLY what was going on in the team thread. A bunch of meaningless pointless spam for post count. As a result, I took 20 points away from them. That'll teach them!

When it came to the competition, they got a great finish from an unlikely person. ProGamer135 who earned 30 points (although the spam lost the team 20 of those). The other entries were pedestrian at best... although dazzsheil and SamB were really close.

I heard more about those experiments that JigSaw was doing. As it turns out... there was very little to worry about. You'll just notice that some of you no longer have hair on your chin. Nothing to worry about.

Too much Castlevania.

I know this isn't a pet leggy's ego contest, but when leggy is a judge, his tastes are kind of valuable when it comes to judging the item in question. Leggy HATES Castlevania and its music.

Lesson learned.

The only player on the team to score was jlh who actually won the competition. He's been the go to guy for SDB.

Where the hell is crazycatpup? Since joining it feels like she's done nothing. Same for pacman1755.

It wasn't that their choices were bad. rcarter2, KG, and sonicmcmuffin submitted great tracks, but the other teams just submitted better ones. Unfortunately, they have to settle for the 5 bonus points for being the most punctual team.

Unfortunately, all I can say about them is that they are raiders. They've taken to terrorizing the Vizzards, although it's well deserved in their case.

Anywho...

Cabin 1- Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right

It was quite a messy day for the Trailmachines... they keep trying to climb back into contention only to be shoved away. I don't know who to blame... maybe it's the lack of leadership. Their leader is after all... just A Rock. (I don't know how many times I can make that joke before it gets funny)

That aside, it doesn't help that MegaRevolution1 is the only person who seems to give even one f*** on this team. Speaking of her, she gave one of two submissions for the Fake Product competition.

It was a small boost, but the second place might be able to help push them out of the basement, and push them up to the floor level. Who knows...

I have it on good authority that a Sonic and Knuckles speed run is a very wanted competition from this team... I wonder if they'll get it...

Well this has certainly been a good day for them. They "lost" thing1 to the Army, and they placed pretty damn well in this competition. Yeah, they scored a fair deal you know.

But don't tell JigSaw, who actually WON the competition with his heart attack on a bun! Oh wait, you mean to tell me he's been their MVP? GET OUT!

But no, seriously, they are gearing up for the last two challenges, with the hopes they can really take it to the Mongooses... but it might be too late to stage a run.

There is nothing witty I can come up with for this team. I dub them Team Snoozefest.

Team Shut Out is more like it... I swear, no team has been as bipolar as Slam Dunk Base throughout this competition. They either dominate, or get their asses kicked... at least... that's how it feels, watching them. I'll probably go to the records later, and think whattttt?

Whatever the case, good effort? Two of their submissions were very close... but not quite there.

It'll be fun to see if they do good in the next contest... it could really be their chance to shine... if they get motivated.

Long story short, they are still dominating. Even in days they don't place, they've found the key to winning. Participation. I'm not kidding. I bet if you took out participation points, this would be a hell of a lot closer.

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right

Well... today was... bleak.

Like no. Really. No one on this team cares anymore. The only person who submitted anything was A Rock and their "achievement" is entirely sarcastic. I gave them a 6/10, because I pity them... remember when this team was "stacked" and "supposed to dominate"? Yeah, me too.

There's literally nothing else I can say here without just picking on them. This team is weak.

Apparently, this team has been taking sleeping pills. They are too lazy to do anything.

This team's accomplishments weren't much better...

They were also all game related. Which in retrospect, should be expected of gamers. Nonetheless, the accomplishments weren't all too great. Maybe they'll turn it around... who knows. I think they are the only team that even has a "chance" of catching the Mongooses anymore.

While the Vizzards weren't all too strong... this team happened to be even weaker on the accomplishment front. And I'm going to take this time to note I'm taking 10 points away from them for half assing half their entries.

Their only REAL accomplishment was getting a score in a card game. Aside from that, some guy made friends, and another noted they had a banned member. Well then.

They really lost a lot of ground... and I think they are pretty much out of it at this point.

Domination. No seriously. They swept the contest, and pretty much cemented first barring complete and utter failure. Which, knowing them, is unlikely.

I'm going to point out again, they know the secret to doing well. TRYING. That's right. Participation goes a LONG way in winning this contest. I don't know how many participation points they've earned... but hot damn it's a lot.

They've been a fun team to watch... but you have to wonder if their domination makes it less fun for others? Maybe next year, I'll be splitting this team up...

Domination aside, they made some pretty nice cookies yesterday...

1st - rcarter2 - 70 points - The Fighting Mongooses
2nd - sonicmcmuffin - 60 points - The Fighting Mongooses

-----

Video game numbers... aside from an epic fail, this is pretty much over... But there will be jostling for 2nd and 3rd... with each subcompetition and the final mega competition coming up... there's about 350 points on the line for each team... The only team with a CHANCE is the Vizzards... but that'll require complete and total domination, and a Mongoose epic fail... neither of which I see happening...

Regardless, we chug on... Final Day Start!

August 13th-August 26th - The Final Day

OH GOD. I AM DREADING WRITING THIS. I have to cover almost TWO FULL WEEKS of ACTION.

-----

Cabin 1 - Trailmachines: The Fellowship of Right

Lots of interesting notes... not a lot of time...

Guess we'll start with the basics.

A Rock, and silverthundr, have quit the team, on the last competition. They both just grew too irritated with Camp, and state they will not try again next year.

This brings the list of members who quit to being those two, the_casualty, and Snowdeath.

I should probably take this time to mention, if you are not winning... this competition probably isn't much fun. Second and Third can have a good time, but generally the last place team will psychologically be worse off.

None of the people who were in the mini competitions were able to advance to the Mega Competition. So really, this team didn't choose to play for pride... they ended up just flopping.

It's kind of funny, since this team was expected to dominate the competition from day 1.

In the end, this team just didn't have the drive.

TEAM MVPS
1. MegaRevolution1 - For being the generally most active member of the team
2. becerra95 - For actually trying in a good deal of later competitions.
3. Someone70/silverthundr - While Someone was mostly inactive... at least she didn't complain 90% of the time.

Trailmachines - 60 points
TOTAL POINTS FOR CAMP - 283 Points

-----

Cabin 2 - The Ultimate Vizzards

The only team that could stand up to the Mongooses...

They needed a crap load of points though.

They got a ton of wins though. 3/5 competitions ended with Vizzards getting to the final round. So they did their jobs... we'll find out later if the Mongooses did theirs.

I gotta say, I'm impressed by the fact exactly half the members of the final competition were Vizzards. It probably won't alter things in the final standings one way or the other, but I'm giving them 10 bonus points for just being the best team for the mini competitions.

Not only that, but they've really been one of the most consistent teams of the competition. A lot of people expected this team to be dead last... but they are either 1st or 2nd following strong performances from their team MVPs.

TEAM MVPS
1. Seishiro Leonhart - I think I speak for everyone when I say he was one of the most feared in high score contests.
2. Eddy88 - He's not that great a user... but damn, he was one of the most active and consistent.
3. JigSaw - He didn't participate OFTEN, but when he did, his submissions were very notable.

Vizzards - 210 points + 175 = 385+10 = 395
TOTAL POINTS FOR CAMP - 677 Points

-----

Cabin 3 - Slam Dunk Base

The average man. The average team. I think many people imagined this team would finish around the middle... and they were right. This team was right there, in the middle.

That's not a bad thing. I think they got a lot more out of this camp than most think. When you play for fun, and not for competition you find a better chance of winning... a personal victory.

Only one member of this team made it to the final mega competition. jlh.

I honestly don't have much to say. This team kind of isn't amazing or horrible.

TEAM MVPS
1. pacman1755 - He's honestly the only name I can remember on this team without having to look it up.
2. jlh - He's placed in a lot of competitions for them.
3. Everyone else basically - I honestly forget most of what this team "did"

Slam Dunk Base - 180 points
TOTAL POINTS FOR CAMP - 423 Points

-----

Cabin 4 - The Fighting Mongooses

The most dominant team at camp. Let's recap.

Team is made, everyone expects 2nd fiddle performance.

Except for them.

First few competitions happen. Mongooses take a STAGGERING lead.

Fast forward a few weeks, and this team is so far ahead, NO ONE stands a chance.

Then all of a sudden, the Vizzards take a charge at them.

The Mongooses have one final mission. If they can win, they will prove the justice of their domination.

But enough of me, let's get to it.

TEAM MVPS
1. KG/sonicmcmuffin - They participated a s*** ton (everyone did) but I saw these two as being the threads that kept the team together. In a competition like this, it's a valuable trait.
2. rcarter2 - Once he came back, he was a valuable reinforcement.
3. tj4bigred - He like KG and sonic, was active, but he had to drop off near the end thanks to computer issues.

Mongooses - 110 points
TOTAL POINTS FOR CAMP - 730 Points

-----
Final Awards

-----
The Spam Award - Given to the cabin that showed the best use of spam... Wait, is there a good use?

The Ultimate Vizzards!
-----

The "I can't believe he competed" Award - Given to the user who signed up and surprised everyone.

JigSaw!
-----

The "ARGH NOT 5TH PLACE AGAIN" Award - Given to the user who seemed to be JUST outside of the points standings each time

sonicmcmuffin!
-----

The Raid Award - Given to the Cabin who raided the most threads

The Fighting Mongooses
-----

The "DO THIS COMPETITION" Award - Given to the user who kept suggesting competitions... usually the same one

MegaRevolution1!

-----

FINAL STANDINGS

1st - Mongooses - 730
2nd - Vizzards - 677
3rd - Slam Dunk Base - 423
4th - Trailmachines - 283

-----

WOW, that's a closer finish than most were probably expecting. I bet if the Vizzards were as hands on as they were at the end for the entire thing... they could have well won. Blame thing1! I kid. I kid.

But I don't kid about how this competition was a success. Aside from the Trailmachines, every team was competitive for most of the competition. Maybe this will come back next year, it depends on popular demand.

I guess this is the last time I'll address the campers as the counselor of Vizzed Camp. So what should I say?

I guess the stereotypical thing to do is talk about how you all conquered many obstacles to compete, and how you are all winners... but I guess we can skip it in favor of a more "leggytastic" address.

You guys made this fun. Really. Not just for yourselves or other campers, but also for me. I certainly would not have updated a competition over the course of 2 months if I wasn't enjoying it. There were times I got lazy, but that was more the fatigue of my every day life, more so than your competitive spirit.

What I'm trying to say, is "thank you" for all your participation, and giving the camp a try in it's first inception. I know things are always rough the first go around, but I'd like to think you have all enjoyed it as much as I have. If there's a camp next year, I hope each and every one of you come back, and enjoy a 2nd year of just plain out chilling out on a website.

It may not have been a total substitute for camp, but what matters is that you all had fun, and worked with whatever I gave you. Whether it was a high score contest for a game you didn't like, or for writing a story to satiate my ego. Whether the competition was making a team name or flag, or simply making up a fake ad. You rose above everything, and you will always have the memories of the time you got that one really cool score, took that one really cool screenshot, or made one really funny joke. Whatever it is, I'm sure each of you has something you can look back on and smile.

I'm kind of dragging this on now, but I guess that's how we counselor folk are. Come to think of it... once I end this, I won't really have a job as a counselor anymore. Next year is so far away. Guess I gotta hang up the hat.

Well, I guess this is it then. You have until the end of the month to pack up, and for your parents to pick you up. On September 1st, these cabins will be completely washed clean and there will be new inhabitants no later than September 5th.

(Yes, I am using this time to promote Mafia Round IX. You can sign up here. Signups end September 4th!)

So goodbye everyone. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have. And one last congratulations to the Mongooses for winning.
