This was one of the first games I was ever introduced to that I actually played. It was very hard way back then. Now I can beat it in one sit through. What I love about the game is there was so much to do apart from just the story. It would take hours and hours to find all the secret rooms and items. This was back before Internet so you had to do all that grinding on your own. I remember there was one room that the person who showed me the game (much older then I) who loved the game religiously and he found a room but couldn't figure out how to get into it. When I was a little older and decided to play through the game again I accidentally figured out a way to get in that room. So it was awesome even years later to find new things in the game.

Young boy Link probably should have just stayed in bed that one stormy night, but he didn't. After being woken by a telepathic from the princess (shocking. In trouble princess) telling him she needs his help. His uncle tells Link to stay here but of course Link doesn't listen. When Link finds his way in to Hyrule Castle he finds his uncle seriously wounded. Link takes his uncles sword and shield and continues on his mission to save the princess.

Overall:
Amazing game. It really set a standard for how Zelda games would be from here on out. The weren't messing around when they made this game. When the game came out a lot of people thought that after collecting the three pendants and getting back to the castle that it would be the end of game, but in fact the game had just begun.

Graphics:
For this era the graphics were very basic but they were able to put a lot of detail in to the game. I think that they went above and beyond on this one. They wanted to make this one perfect and it really worked out for them.

Sound:
At times the melodies could be very mind numbing. After time I would play this game listening to my own music or nothing at all. But the melodies in the game were really good and they continued to use them throughout the series. They were a huge success but as I said I have played this game a lot so for me I needed to listen to something else.

Addictiveness:
This game is highly addictive. Even now, decades after it came out. As with all Zelda games there are things to collect like hearts and hidden weapons. Hidden caves with rupees. The way in to your next dungeon. Hours and hours of mind numbing fun to be had with this one. You wont get bored and there will always be something to do on your play through.

Story:
As all ways you are in a race against time to save something. In this case, the princess Zelda. Every time you think you have found her, you haven't. So on to the next dungeon to search for her. It's pretty generic but still very interesting and fun.

Depth:
In this game there are a lot of side things to do as I have said already. Which makes the game a little more in depth. It is a long game with a ton of dungeon and things you have to do to open some of those dungeons. You don't have to collect ever thing to beat the game but it sure helps!

Difficulty:
This game only has one difficulty so depending on your age and gaming skill it could go either way. When I was young and not very experienced it was hard. As I got older and played it more it got easier. Sometimes I can kill a boss right away, sometimes I die a few times before I can beat it. A lot of it has to do with rushing. Just because you know you have done it before doesn't mean you don't have to take your time to do it again. I am guilty on this count in a lot of games.

I recommend that if you haven't already gotten in to this series and you are thinking about it, that you should DEFINITELY start with this game. It is one of the easier ones and it will give you a feel for the other ones.
