According to Lionhead studio’s Fable: The Journey works. This is a fable game that is Kinect game play only. However, Lionhead decided to replace the melee attacks in Fable: The Journey with long-range magic attacks. With the idea of staying away from what the Kinect has had quite a downfall with other games in the past. By doing this Lionhead would be masking what lag the players would get when having to fight an enemy one on one with close combat.
The choice to go to magic spells does bring an interesting twist into the Fable game. An example would be casting what is called the “ After Touch” spell. The “After Touch” spell actually enhance other spells so you can throw electric bolts in the air and have them crash down on unexpected enemies. This can also be use to flush out enemies who would be hiding behind cover.
However, despite being able to play this entire game sitting down, one would expect there would be some type limits or restrictions. You would be right to think that. As the player you have no control over where the main character goes in the game. You get to sit down and wave your arms and what not knowing that unless the character was to back track on its own that cool looking item that you saw but didn’t have room for at the time is lost. Lionhead’s slight of hand to show kinects strong points and stay away from the weakness’s that the kinect has might be this games down fall. Lionhead is experimenting with Fable: The Journey to get input on individuals as to how good the game is. They are quoted in saying that to tell people that this good is pointless as it is up to them to play the game and find out just how good this game is.
