I have been reading up on a few different N64 controllers  because I've notice so many people have problems with controllers and the RGR plugin when playing N64 games. I have a Tomee N64 controller, but no adapter. I know that many of the adapters don't work well with 3rd party controllers so I was looking into the Hyperkin N64 controller, which is already a USB controller. I was wondering if anyone uses the Hyperkin and what their experience was and if it works well with vizzed? Or, would it be better to by an adapter (the only ones I really see are May Flash adapters) for my Tomee controller? Suggestions? Thoughts?

I would suggest that you get the USB controller, because those adapters are notoriously inconsistent. The Hyperkin should work fine with Vizzed, though you will most likely need to use Xpadder. Here's a thread about Xpadder, plus it has a download link and a tutorial.

The title doesn't mention N64 games, but you can use it for just about anything. I hoe this helps.

Thank you so much! I didn't want to waste $20 dollars on a USB controller if it wasn't going to work. I read a poor review online which scared me off a little, but if it will work on the site then I am much more willing to make the small investment for unlimited N64 fun!

I want to make sure you know I'm not saying that the controller itself will work. You should get one that you feel confident will work correctly. All I'm saying is that a USB controller is much better than trusting a converter with a 3rd party controller, and that you can set it up for Vizzed with relative ease.

well thank you for your help, I appreciate it. I do feel fairly confident in the Hyperkin, but if you or anyone knows of any better USB N64 controllers, I'd love to know! The Hyperkin is the only one I found, however...

I didn't know of any specific ones at all until I saw your post. I know they are out there, but I never looked. I myself just have a generic Playstation-style controller that I use for everything.

Personally I wouldn't purchase a controller just to play N64 games. I would just get a nice logitec dual stick controller and just configure the controls to something that's comfortable for you.

The issues that people have with the controllers aren't usually because the controllers don't work with Vizzed, it's because the N64 controller is configured so much differently than like every other controller released. It's hard to configure it in a way that feels comfortable.

Thank you for your help! I have another PC controller that works for NES/SNES/Playstation so I don't mind buying one to play N64. Plus the logitech controllers are pretty pricey, whereas I can get a hyperkin for under $20

thank you everyone for your suggestions and input!

What kind of controller do you currently have? Is it one with an analog stick? If it is, maybe you could set it up for N64 games instead of buying a whole new controller. I can tell you how I have mine set up, if you want some advice. I didn't use a real N64 controller very long, but my configuration feels pretty comfortable to me.

I don't remember the name of my controller that I am currently using, but it doesn't have a joystick so it won't work for N64 games. I do have an xbox controller, but I don't really understand how to get that to work with my PC and I'm assuming whatever I'll need to do will cost me just as much as the N64 controller I've found on amazon. I've also done a little more research on my controller of interest and find that everyone loves the responsiveness of the joysticks and buttons. if I don't have to do anything special to get my xbox controller to work, I bet that would be OK, but at the same time I know this hyperkin controller is plug & play and works with various emus...

I really appreciate your help I'm very grateful!

Yeah, all the controllers respond differently in windows. I've had just about all of them, though if you are playing N64 games, I've been rather happy with the responsiveness and feeling of the Retrobit N64 USB Controller http://www.dascheap.com/n64-controller-wired-usb-controller-for-pc-mac-grey-retro-link.html  Playing WWF 2000 rules on the PC and you can easily use Joy 2 Key to map for web based games.
