I recently heard that nintendo is working on the next nintendo wii. It's supposed to finally match the graphics of its competetors and the virtual technology is supposedly smoother. Its release will be in 2011. I don't have a link, but I saw a video of it on yahoo a week or so ago (I think)

That would be a bad move to do something like that this early. Also pointless for them to come out with a new system this early that is suppose to have competitive graphics to the 360 and ps3 because it would only be a year or 2 after the Wii 2 came out that playstation and xbox would come out with their new systems which would again than be double the power of the Wii 2.

Nintendo is doing good enough with the Wii, makes no sense to me why they'd need a new system for a while, the current one is still selling pretty good and I haven't really heard of anyone complaining about the graphics, because people don't buy the Wii for graphics and everyone knows what the graphics look like and yet people still buy it - people but it for it's wiimote functionality and the other crazy (but unique) stuff they develop.

Yeah I don't think Wii 2 is coming out soon, because one of Nintendo's biggest SIM franchises is having a Wii release: Animal Crossing CF; it'd be kind of dumb to think of a new console now.

Its not minamalistic for a reason, its just nintendos way. Why make another super high def system with 1.21 jigga watts of processing power and try compete with PS3 and Xbox360 when they can take a different route and whoop them on a completly different level.

Actually it was about 4 years but still not enough. If someone is going to invest all this money into a system, it's a pretty crappy investment if the system will only be around for a few years. I love the xbox but it still makes me mad that microsoft completely pulled the plug on it so early, that's one thing I respect with sony products is that they continue developing games for their systems for like almost 10 years.

I do however doubt that the Eii (W flipped sideways, my idea of the name. ;P) would come out so soon, I think Nintendo will milk the Wii a bit more, then pull the plug once sales drop and release Eii. We'll see.
