On gb64.com it is claimed that the programmer, Alan Steele, made the
game based on any and all info he could get his hands on at the time,
including Britain's Ministry of Defence and the Soviet embassy in
London. His intent was to "write a war game based on the current
situation in Europe, to see what would happen", so simulate WW-3
strategic combat results as realistic as possible. Using those stats,
the WP would win overwhelmingly in a conventional conflict and since it
was NATO policy to resort to the nuclear option in case the forces
couldn't hold back the WP, the game (and alternate reality, according to
his studies) would end in total nuclear war each and every time. In the
end, Alan 'fiddled' with the numbers, to make the game winnable for
both sides.

Ah, yeah... One more thing, if I may... The nuclear missile code required for launching is "MIDNIGHT SUN". BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL WITH THAT!

Have fun!

Well it seems like you have some cool information here, although I wouldn't really call this a "review" Probably should be moved to the "discussion" section.

I played a few of these war simulator games back then I remember 1 I played on Atari and another on the Intellivision. Both were pretty damn similar to this game.

Jordanv78 is correct that this really isn't a review, so I will move it to the Retro Game Discussion forum. Though it meets the 100 word minimum, it doesn't really say anything about the game itself other than how and why it was made. Also, this is direct copy paste from the last paragraph of this site :

http://videogamegeek.com/videogame/78933/theatre-europe

So even if this were a review, copy/paste isn't allowed in the Review forum.
