pikachus fine in my opinion. But in one game i don't if i hate him or the game. Pokemon yellow. First gym your pretty much forced to train on wild pokemon and catch one of the nidos. Also, you get to celadon buy a thunderstone and nothing happens when you give it pikachu. i would rage at that game so much.

Personally it really depends on which game it is on. If it is before fire red/leaf green than he's my favorite but after that I don't really like him. In Pokémon rumble I guess he was ok and in heart gold and soul silver but other than that I do not like him. so if i was to put him on a love scale 1-10 he'd be a three. one major problem i have with him is the fact that they try to make him both cuter and more powerful but that just ruins everything for me in games.

Near the first of the game Pikachu is actually really good since it has a decent moveset and good stats in comparison to other pokemon around the early parts in the games (especially the early bug types), but usually past the third or fourth gym it's... honestly pretty terrible.

It keeps a pretty good moveset, but it's just not anywhere near strong enough to take anything down in two hits or less and most of the time it faints after getting hit by even weaker attacks.

I don't even think it's good when it's evolved either so... 

There are a lot of electric types that are so much better than Pikachu, I don't know why it get's so much attention and praise as a good pokemon
