I am curious as to peoples thoughts and opinions on pokemon that must be traded to evolve and having to need certain items and all that.

I personally think that having to trade pokemon is annoying, especially when you don't know anyone who would trade with you and then trade back so you have the pokemon you want. If I could I would have it so you don't have to trade to get certain pokemon, but for those needing items and to be traded they would only need to be holding the item and then leveled a few times or something.

Or they could add an in game trading center where you trade with NPCs. That would be interesting. A place where you go to trade pokemon with whatever trainer, and also get requests or something. It would make the game a little more interesting. I know they have some NPCs in games that only trade once and that's it, but the thing I'm talking about would be more expansive and include all trainers you meet, including gym leaders and elite four, where you could trade for any pokemon with anyone and they would state what pokemon they wanted, and when you fought them they used your pokemon you traded with them. An interesting idea, no?

What are your thoughts on trading pokemon for their evolutions? How would you change it?

It's seriously stupid, and really pointless. Hell, I want a Gengar, I want a Machamp, and I def want a Scizor. Trade Evolution is the worst type of evolution ever. With the 1st Gen, if Kadabra is holding a twisted spoon and is either happy or evolve into Alakazam at Level 42 or higher. Machamp can evolve at Level 48 by holding Black Belt. Graveller or Onix and Scizor holding Hard Stone and Metal Coat to evolve into Golem, and Steelix as Haunter evolve into Gengar at night. As for the rest basically every Pokémon that has a trade evolution and has to hold an item should just hold the item, and level up to a certain level and/or have good happiness can evolve because trade evolution in my opinion is a extremely crappy idea.

Exactly, and if they really want to keep trading then they should make my suggestiong, the trade center. Where you can trade with any NPC you encounter in the game should they have pokemon. That way you can still evolve traded pokemon without the need to find someone willing to trade, you can just go to the in-game trade center and pick the pokemon you wish to trade, have an option for evolution trade or normal trade.

If you pick evolution trade you pick the pokemon who evolves when traded, it finds a trainer who is willing to do that, and who has a pokemon themselves they want to evolve through trading, and then trade to each other and then back.

For normal trade you choose the pokemon you want and it searches for a trainer willing to trade that pokemon, and they will state what they want in return, and then you make the trade.

Also, to make it more NPC interactive there would be posts by NPCs for certain pokemon they want, and the pokemon they are willing to trade for that pokemon. So if it is a pokemon you want you can get that pokemon they want and trade.

No need for another actual person. Either way, they should do something because I love Gengar. It is one of my favorites, but I can't get it because of the trade thing. Only game I can get it in so far without trade is Flora Sky. A pokemon hack. *Sigh* Wonder if anyone will see this and bring the idea before someone who can make it real. That would be AMAZING!

Anyone elses thoughts on the whole trade evolution and trading in general?

With global trading over Wi-Fi, Gengar and all the others aren't too hard to come by. Nevertheless, I have my brother when I want to trade Pokemon.

Pokemon couldn't hold items in Gen 1. Nor was there a day and night system. They'll just keep the evolutions as they are.

The idea is that you need to connect to catch them all. No one ever complains about only being able to pick one starter, even though it's the same principal.

Most hacks make trade evolution possible by some different means, but I like them the way they are.

Plus, you may be able to trade in Ruby/Sapphire and so on on Vizzed if Vizzed gets donations required for Netplay, which would allow you to play multiplayer with all different kinds of games in the RGR.

Yes, that's true that with Wi-fi it has made it easier, but if you aren't one to socialize that much with others, or don't know or trust the other person to trade back the evolved pokemon then it could get to be a problem, but I do see your point. Just would be nice to get something for people who aren't in a Wi-fi zone or don't play on Wi-fi.

If Vizzed was able to do that at some point, that would be AMAZING!

I think the trade evolution was good thing cause the trade pokemon are like 2 times stronger than their previous evolution.

Well, to reply to the post above me. All evolutions of pokemon are stronger than their previous stage. Being traded doesn't matter in that regards. You take a third stage evolution that needs to be traded and a third stage evolution that doesn't need to be traded they will still both be more powerful than their previous stage. Anyways, I'm just saying.

I remember back to the original pokemon catching an Abra and a Ghastly. When they evolved I LOVED those pokemon. I looked stuff up on them and found out they evolved. I got them well past lvl50 and was wondering why they weren't evolving. I wasn't a social person by any means, and the friends who did play pokemon didn't have a link cable. So it took me a while to actually trade to get Gengar and Alakazam.

I'm just saying they could do something for people who are like me and don't want to go through other people to get the pokemon they want. They could easily implement my idea into the next game. They could also make it a little easier to get the items for trade evolution pokemon. A place in-game where you could trade with ALL npc's in the game would be nice, and add the options for what kind of trade would be nice to.

Anyways, if anyone agrees with me then let me know. If anyone doesn't that's cool too. Also, if anyone wants to say their views on my idea of an actual in-game trading center/machine let me know. I am interested to know your thoughts. Thanks for reading my thread

Well the only difference with evolutions is that traded evolutions can result from gaining fast experience as well as better stats for the traded pokemon.

I always hated having to trade to evolve certain Pokemon. It did help make their final form rarer, and cooler to have. But it was really tedious, and the cords to trade between gameboys was less than fantastic. It was often quite a chore just to get connected to each other, and then we had to be very still to keep from losing connection.

Overall, I'd say that the reason behind that is to encourage more people to play together (or something like that). I, personally, do NOT like the idea because I don't really have wi fi available for my ds.

Well the way they did Wi-fi is good, but my idea would work for those who do not have access to wi-fi or choose not to use it.

My idea would implement an in-game trading center. Meaning NOT Wi-fi. It would add every single NPC trainer or person with pokemon in the game and they would send requests to the trade center. These request could be anything such as "Help me Evolve my Kadabra!?" to "Looking for a Pikachu! Will trade Eevee!" You could then choose which one you want to do. You could then also post something similar via the "Evolution Trade" option. You would trade with and NPC and then trade back to get your pokemon.

There would also be normal trades so you can actually trade with ever trainer if they are willing.

To me that would add a bunch of variety to the game. They would have new and different pokemon since they traded (And yes, they would trade amongst themselves, not just with you). So it would be like an active world instead of the stale one it is. Trainers you previously fought might have new pokemon and may have new dialogue such as "I just traded! Let's fight!" Or something like that.

All of what I have said are examples of my idea. If they made it I hope they follow my idea. I would definitely buy the game if they added the idea to the newer Gens. It would make the game more alive imo.

I agree. In like the GBA games you need the cord and all that then if you have no friends or your friends don't like Pokémon either you can't have the Pokémon or you have to go our and buy another game to trade onto then back!
As for item I do see some point but it is annoying. Like in eevee I understand that he has tons of evolutions so the stones are necessary but for like pansage, panpour, and all that lot I think they could have made level up instead of there being like level 1 simisage and things like that. Maybe in the next game they make they could have the option that if they need items for evolution, you could either use the items or level them up.
That's just my opinion but I think all in all it's pointless and annoying.
