Sonic The Hedgehog 1, released in 1991, is what started the long lasting war between the Mario series and the Sonic series. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, however, is what really made the war official. The game was such a success that people consider it the Super Mario World of the Sonic series. (Which is to say its the best in the series. Lets find out what makes the game so great!
The graphics are pretty much the same from the original game, save a few sprite changes. However these graphics are just as awesome and cool as they were originally. Not only is this a good move, it actually helps improve the game in a few instances, so that just makes the game all the more awesome.
The music is not only Awesome like in Super Mario World, but here the music is actually themed for the levels! This IS featured in other Sonic games, but its done best here. Take Mystic Cave, for example, the music there is a creepy, eerie theme that maintains its theme throughout the entire song. Mow look at another cave level, Lava Reef act 2 from S&K, it does have an eerie tone, but the rest of the song seems it would better suit the final level due to its atmosphere.
The story is a REALLY underrated story. A lot of people accuse the story for lack of depth and its simplicity. For the depth, the story actually as a really deep story, but you have to look really deep in return. The main plot is that Dr. Egg man has kidnapped the animals of west island and is using them to power his robots. It represents the people who were kidnapped by governments during wars and forced to serve as army men. That is deep.
The games Difficulty depends on how good you are at the series as a whole. If your good, this game will be no problem, if however you suck, then the game gets a lot harder. Yes, that's all there is to say about the difficulty.
