so i had the opportunity to get Battlefield this past weekend and put some time into. i've always heard that Battlefield is the COD killer but never had the chance to play it at length. i remember playing old Battlefield on PC when it first came out but i was excited to be able to try it out on a next gen console. the first thing that hit me, the graphics. they look so good that they are almost scary. the cut scenes and game play look so polished that i felt that i was watching tv rather than playing a game. the storyline (the amount of it that i've been able to play) is action stacked. very excited to finish the campaign. now, the multiplayer. i like the idea of being team oriented and having vehicles implemented, but i just can't get into it. it feels like a PC multiplayer game being forced on the console. maybe i'm too ingrained into playing the way Halo and COD have made me. the maps feel way too big and there really is no structure in the games. also the lobby is confusing. i just want to host my own game and run around on the maps to get a feel for what i'm fighting in but i don't know where to find that option. and i haven't found a vehicle yet lol. overall i really want to like Battlefield, the single player has me hooked and wanting to play straight through, and then again afterwards. the multiplayer is what's holding me back from putting all my chips in. that being said, MW3!!!!
reserved my copy and i'm psyched to see what they've done with the game. i've watched my share of vids on YouTube and other channels and i've tried to soak up as much info on this game as possible. from what i can tell, the graphics aren't nearly as polished as Battlefield but the gameplay looks intense. the single player campaign picks up right where MW2 left off and they've brought back Spec-Ops. one thing that i missed from Black-Ops was the lack of split screen missions to complete. they've also included a couple different split screen gameplay including survival mode. it feels like a more fleshed out and thought through version of Zombies. there is too much to go into on here but it looks like something i'll be spending a lot of time on. then comes what everyone has been waiting in line for for 100+ hours. multiplayer. it doesn't look like they've reinvented the wheel but it looks sick. rethought killstreaks and included them in strike packages (this is completely going to change the gameplay of all the griefers and douches who camp), new game variants including one that is sorta like TDM but not, leveling up of weapons makes it super easier than MW2 to get the attachments and customization you want, proficiencies added to weapons to aid in how they react to certain situations, balanced maps taking away power positions and making the gameplay more focused on gun to gun interaction rather than hide and wait till someone runs by me, and the list can go on and on. one quote i heard in an interview was "Call of Duty your way." basically this meant that they wanted you to have as much fun as possible in the ways you wanted. so if you wanted to play Spec-Ops with your compadres then they equipped you to do that, if you want to rush to the flag in a game of Capture the Flag and get killed in 5 seconds you're equipped to do that, if you want to take it slow and be methodical in a game of Demolition you can customize the options to let you do that, if you want to start a private match with your online buds and play a weird game variant that you invented you can do that. this honestly feels like a game i will playing for a LONG time because of all the options they include and ways you can experience the game.
now all of that to say this, what is your take on this FPS duel between Dice and Activision? Whose game will you be buying this week? What are your opinions on the multiplayer and single player experiences? Keep the hating to a minimum kids
