Lee Evans hasn't led the Bills offense for two or three years now.  It has been Stevie Johnson and Roscoe Parrish as far as receivers go.  They also got another dual tandem half back set Freddie Jackson and C.J. Spiller. Pretty sure Freddie ran for almost 1,000 yards last year.

They're now playing a 3-4 defense. The best defense the team has seen since Bruce Smith was on the squad. Marcell Dareus the rookie from 'Bama, Kyle Williams, and Dwan Edwards on the line.  Chris Kelsay, Andra Davis, Nick Barnett, and Shawne Merriman at line backer. Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin playing corner with George Wilson and Jairus Byrd playing the safety positions.

If Merriman stays healthy they're going to wreak havoc in the 3-4 defensive scheme.

Fitzpatrick put up 3,000 yards and 23 tds last year and only played in 13 games.

90% of their games last year were only lost 3-7 points because the defense couldn't step up. Also a lot of plays at the end of games they should've challenged that they never did.

The Jets aren't even that great. They only have a Defense. All the Patriots have is an offense. The Dolphins aren't a factor at all as they're pretty much completely rebuilding.

JayOhEssAitchYouAy : Not totally against any of your predictions, but there's a few that make me raise an eyebrow; first, I think the Bills are a little better than people seem to think they are, but I don't think they have even a ghost of a chance to make the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if they made 5 wins though and made trouble "Eat his words".

Second, I've got nothing against you saying the Ravens will win their division, since they have a very good chance, but don't write the Steelers off. They're essentially the same team this year without having to start there backup QB for a few games.

Third, I don't think the Colts will have an easy time with the division. From what I've seen, the Texans DID amp up their Defense a little, and Peyton hasn't thrown a football all summer; it's questionable if he'll even play the opening game this season due to recovering from a neck surgery.

I'm not wholly against this 4th one, but I'm not with it either. I think the Raiders are number 2 in the division this year. The Chiefs had a comparatively easy season last year and face much tougher opponents this year (At least on paper). I don't think they'll repeat either, but I think the Chargers will have more wins than the Raiders.

I don't think the NFC East is a lock for the Eagles, but I do think the Eagles will win it; not as easily as most seem to think though.

I mostly agree with this one, but I think the Lions have more of a shot than you realize. I think the Packers will win the division as well, but pay attention to the Lions win/loss bracket at least. The only thing holding them back now is the fact that their QB keeps getting injured in the beginning of the season.

I agree the NFC South call the most; I don't think the Bucs will win the division, but they have a lot better of a shot than people think. The main downside is that they will now be gameplanned against more aggressively this season.

The last point is pretty open... Any of the 4 have a shot at this weak division, but I think the Cards and the Rams have the best shot. Like it or not, the QB is the most important player on the board. That being said, I think Smith is actually a bit underrated; I think the real problem is the horrific Offensive Line play. Good luck throwing passes when you're literally getting crushed every few seconds... I think he's about as good as Fitzpatrick honestly. Not good, but not bad either. It's his O-Line that makes him look awful.

trouble982 : I don't think the Bills are a team to watch, but I DO think they'll make you eat your words. They need better players in a fair amount of positions, but I don't think they have any position they're awful at. They're not bad, they're just not great. Look for 4-6 wins for them. I'm putting 4 as a minimum and 6 as a maximum for them. By the way, you might want to pay attention to their draft. Losing Lee Evans hurts, but I think their Defense will be significantly better this year. They only drafted 2 guys on Offense; everyone else was Defense, including the number 3 overall pick. In the long run, I think Defense is more important.

Oh, and I still say the Chiefs finish the division 3rd this year. Say what you want, they folded against winning record teams last year and they have a tougher schedule this year. I think it'll probably take them 2-3 years to go to the playoffs again, barring something completely unexpected. Shouldn't take longer than that, but I don't think it'll come sooner either.

I've simply wrote the Steelers off for the fact that, if you look at statistics, the losing team in the Super Bowl doesn't even make it to the playoffs 95% of the time the following season.  Maybe the Steelers will prove history and statistics wrong but, I don't see it happening.  The division is too tough. All the other teams are rebuilding Steelers keep the same exact squad every year.  The Steelers defense is getting old and beat up they can't keep relying on it. Their best receiver in Hines Ward is nearing retirement soon.  Mendenhall isn't even that great of a back. And most of all, Big Ben isn't nearly as good as everyone makes him out to be.

As far as the Colts, I don't think Peyton ever throws a ball all summer.  Think the last time I seen him take more than 5 snaps in a pre-season game was like 2005.  He never goes to training camp with the other QB's. He normally does his own thing. So, I don't think that's going to hurt the Colts.

After all, they do have Collins, look what he did for the Titans before they decided to screw around and change Qb's every week between Young, Collins, and Volek.  Of course a man isn't going to do anything if he doesn't start consistently.

And yes, the Lions still are a sleeper. Everyone sleeps on them but, as a team I think they're going to lead the NFL in sacks this year.  I don't really think their record is going to improve too much because the NFC North is a pretty tough division the past few years.

I will stick to what I said about the Bills though.  You can laugh all you want but, I have a feeling they go for 7-10 wins this season if not more. The Jets are overrated.  Dolphins are rebuilding. Only team that's a threat in the division are the Patriots.  Bills schedule is a joke out of division this year.  They play the Eagles, Giants, Skins, and Cowboys. Only team that should beat them there are the Eagles.  The Chargers, Broncos, and Titans are the other three teams out of division that they play.

Bills should've had a 7-10 win season last year if you actually paid attention to them or watched any of their games.  The defense couldn't make late stops what so ever and the coaching staff wasn't doing so great on calling the game.  They had 2 or 3 games where they lost by 3 when they were on game winning drives and fumbled in the red zone. No challenge at all when each of them should've been challenged.  Do believe they also lost 2 or 3 games in overtime too.

I'm going out on a limb here....
NFC DIVISION WINNERS:  Chicago, ST. Louis, Philadelphia, New Orleans.  Wild card:  Green Bay, Atlanta.
NFC CHAMPS: CHICAGO
AFC DIVISION WINNERS:  New England, Denver, Houston, Steelers.  Wild card:  Baltimore, New Jersey.
AFC CHAMPS:  New England.
SUPER BOWL CHAMPION:  CHICAGO!!
Boneheaded, but hey, it could happen.

WarpStarFarret:

Let's take a look for a second at the Bill schedule this season...I'm going to try my hardest to find those 4 to...10 wins .
Week 1: @Kansas City. This may be one of their better chances to win as it's week one and everybody is getting back into the swing of things. That being said, they probably won't win this game

Week 2: vs. Oakland. This is one of those places I could see them getting a win as they are at home vs. A mediocre Oakland team. I'll give them this one.

Week 3: vs. New England. I don't care if it's at home or not, the Bills just can't been the Patriots.

Week 4: @ Cincinnati. Definitely a winnable game. If it was in Orchard Park I would almost call it guaranteed. But it's in Cincinnati, so I'd honestly put this game to a coin flip.

Week 5: vs. Philadelphia. Hahaha, no.

Week 6: @ New York Giants. Not a chance

Week 7: Bye Week. I can honestly say I know for sure they won't lose this week

Week 8: vs. Washington. Probably their best set up game for a win all season. Very mediocre Washington team.

Week 9: vs. New York Jets. They will lose this game 17-3, but it won't be that close.

Week 10: @ Dallas. Probably a loss, Dallas should be anywhere from an 8-8 to a 10-6 team this year.

Week 11: @ Miami. Both games against Miami are winnable. I expect them to split the season series, with both of them finishing 1-5 in the division

Week 12: @New York. 24-3 game, won't be that close

Week 13: vs. Tennessee. Chris Johnson is going to rip that defense a new one

Week 14: @ San Diego. Philip Rivers is going to rip that defense a new one.

Week 15: vs. Miami. Refer to first Miami game.

Week 16: vs. Denver. Up there with the Washington game, this game is winnable. I expect them to win either this game or the Washington game, but not both.

Week 17: @ New England. The only way they win this game is if the Patriots have the division and home field advantage locked up and are resting their starters, which is very possible.

I expect the Bills to get wins against Miami, Washington and Cincinnati. Those are the only 3 wins I predict they will get.

mlb789 : Don't do that to me man . I don't want to have to watch the Pats make the Super Bowl and lose again XD.

The Patriots and Jets barely beat the Bills last year.  The Bills now have the same exact offense and a better defense.  I'm not going to discuss that matter anymore though.  I'll just let the season do the talking for me.

trouble982 : I never said the Bills would do good, I just said they'd go 5-11 and make you eat your words over them not having a shot at even 4 games.

Anyways, new topic: thoughts on the Saints/Packers game? I have just one thing to say...

"Cobb, DO A BARREL ROLL!!!" That play was legit.

The Bills aren't awful. They have some playmakers. They've got some raw talent, but seem to do poorly in games they have a legitimate chance to win. I'm favoriting this thread, because I want to be part of the discussion!

WarpStarFerret : I really don't know if the Cobb play will ever be topped this season XD. That was a fantastic game, just what I was hoping for out of the first game of the season.
tj4bigred : I mean, if you look at my sum-up of the Bills schedule, I did say that the Bills do have a chance to win these 1st 2 games...I just really don't think they will.

Anyone see the Bills game?  Them Chiefs are absolutely amazing huh? They were phenomenally overrated last year. 41-7 was it?  That's one win for the Bills. They'll go 3-1 the first 3 games. Possibly 4-0 pending on how New England is playing come week 3.

JayOhEssAitchYouAy : I never said the Chiefs were amazing. In fact, I said that this was one of the Bills best chances for a win. I also forgot that Charlie Weis left for Florida, so I don't like the Chiefs offense as much XD. That being said, I still stand by 3 wins, though I could see them getting 4 or 5 now. I now think they will lose to Cincinnati. The Bengals looked really good, albeit against a not-so-good Browns team. But yeah, I still don't see the Bills doing anything this season...this was just one of those fluke games that was more about the Chiefs looking TERRIBLE than the Bills looking good.

Fitz will put up another 3,000 yards this season with ease.  Jackson will have another 1,000 yard season with ease.  Stevie Johnson is going to the pro bowl this year.  Going to  lead the NFL in receptions and possibly touchdowns.  The Bills are no joke.  And the Chiefs offense wasn't really amazing last year. It was their defense and defensive schemes which the Bills proved to be a joke today.

The Bills are coming back whether you want to believe it or not.  They got a real young squad and they're finally building chemistry as the offense has all been together a couple years now.

On different note though, how about that Cam Newton character?  Most passing yards by a rookie QB in week 1.  That's a record. Guy is already setting records.  He has that record for at least a year now.  But, that record stayed for a while.  Give you one guess as to who set that record last time. -Drum roll- ............... My fantasy team did very well. I had both Michael Vick and Ray Rice, who put up huge numbers. My biggest surprise was probably the Chiefs. I though that the Bills were gonna win that one, but that was just a blowout.

JayOhEssAitchYouAy : That is a record that will continue to get broken. Every year it seems the league because more and more pass heavy, with more and more cover defenses that just try not to give up the "big play". There are a bunch of guys throughout NFL history that probably could have done it, but the majority of that history has been very run dependent.

tj4bigred : My biggest surprise was that the Ravens slaughtered the Steelers. I know it was in Baltimore, but those two teams haven't had a regular season game NOT be within 4 points since 2007.

I knew the Ravens would be good, but I didn't expect the Steelers to be quite so bad. That was kinda embarassing. And I loved the ESPN headline...

Have you been Rice-Rolled?!

tj4bigred : I expected that game to be within a touchdown....I can't believe how lopsided it was. Joe Flacco looks like he may really come into his own as a top tier QB if he can keep that up all season.

I was at work during the course of the Steelers game yesterday... it was SUPER busy with people buying stuff for the parties right up to about 12:45pm, then game time hit and everything was just dead. Then I heard "16-0, not us", then nothing until people started trickling back and talking about how that game was painful to watch and how embarrassing it was.

Honestly, I don't give a damn about football... but living here it is hard not to root for the Steelers. I am rather down that they lost, but hopefully it is just one of the five of the 11-5 (which I think is a good prediction).

What's everyone's predictions for the Miami-New England game? I think it will be rather close, with a lot of field goals. Pats will win in the end.
