Unreal Tournament 3 is a console gamer's/Unreal Tournament fan's dream come true.  Up until this game was released the only recent Unreal game on consoles was Unreal Championship 2, and it wasn't nearly as good as the Unreal Tournament games for PC.
This game comes with all of the gameplay modes we have come to expect and love in an Unreal Tournament game: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Vehicle Capture the Flag, Warfare, and Duel.  Deathmatch is basically a free-for-all: there is a certain number of kills to achieve to win and everyone else is your target.  There are no teams or allies, so shoot everyone you see to try to get the set number of kills before any of your enemies.  Team Deathmatch is essentially the same thing as Deathmatch, only the players are divided into two teams: red and blue.  The team who gets the set number of kills first wins the match.  Capture the Flag mode is simple: infiltrate your opponents' base and steal their flag, then bring the flag back to your base (while your flag is still there, if your flag is away from your base you cannot score a point in CTF).  Vehicle Capture the Flag is exactly as it sounds: Capture the Flag with vehicles allowed.  This makes for a fun game of Capture the Flag because of Unreal Tournament 3's unique and fun vehicles.  Warfare is a strategy-based game mode: there are several energy nodes across the map, and you must link your prime node (your main energy node, inside your team's base) to the enemy's prime node and destroy it.  No energy nodes can be attacked, captured, or destroyed by either team unless it is linked to their prime node.  There are extra nodes throughout the map that while they may not directly link you to your opponents' prime node, they will help you in winning the match by giving you access to a tank, more weapons, or turrets.  Duel is basically a 1 vs. 1 match between two players (or a player and a computer player) on any map of the players' choice.
In addition to the game modes, the weapons from the previous Unreal Tournament games have returned.  When a fighter is spawned, they have a shield gun and an Enforcer (a pistol).  A second Enforcer can be picked up from dead enemies and dual wielded.  In addition to these weapons there are others which can be picked up: a Redeemer (nuke launcher), Rocket Launcher (which can be fired one rocket at a time or in controlled bursts of three rockets), Flak Cannon (shoots explosive shards which can ricochet off of walls), a Stinger Minigun (has a very high rate of fire), Bio Rifle (shoots green orbs which stick to walls or ground if they do not hit an opponent, and can cause damage if touched), Link Gun (rapid fire plasma weapon that can be used to replenish energy to energy nodes or vehicles), Sniper Rifle, Shock Rifle (plasma weapon that shoots either a strong solid beam or an energy ball which explodes upon impact), and Longbow AVRiL (Anti-Vehicle Rocket Launcher, it locks on to enemy vehicles).  Each of these serves a purpose and is deadly in its own right.
Unreal Tournament also contains a campaign mode.  Throughout the campaign, you are trying to stop an evil woman named Akasha's evil plans.  Campaign mode essentially has you doing different game modes in order to move one step closer to Akasha and stop her.  From time to time you will have a choice between multiple game modes, so the story will not have to play through the exact same every time you play it.  There are also cards that can be unlocked throughout the campaign mode that can be used once to change the level, whether it gives your team more soldiers, gives the opposing team fewer soldiers, or spawns extra vehicles for your team.  These can really help out your team on the mission, especially if it is a mission you have been having trouble completing without them.
All in all, I am really glad that we get a good Unreal Tournament game on consoles, because I have been waiting for it for a while.  I recommend this game to anyone who has enjoyed the Unreal Tournament series in the past, anyone who enjoys fast-paced arcade shooters, or to anyone looking for a fun game to play online.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game look good, but most of the time you are moving too quickly to notice.  The otherworldly theme goes well in this game: it has a lot of good looking environments.

Gameplay: 9/10
Classic Unreal Tournament gameplay: fast-paced action shooter to keep players entertained for hours on end.

Sound: 8/10
I like hearing the satisfying "squish" and other noises when you blow up or demolish other opponents, and the announcers that talk during the matches from time to time make you feel like you are battling in an arena for an audience.  Also, the trash talking you hear from your teammates and enemies is also a nice touch: there's nothing like hearing your enemies trash talk you to make you want to destroy them.

Replayability: 9/10
With enough gameplay options, levels, and online modes, this game is sure to keep you playing for a while.  Even if you do not have Xbox Live (which I unfortunately do not), there are still enough gameplay choices to keep you entertained.

Achievements: 7/10
The achievements in this game will take you a while to accomplish.  Completely beating the campaign mode on normal will only get you 160 gamerscore points.  If you like to beat hard games 100% as far as acheivements go this one will take you a while, although it is fun to do so: Flag Waver (complete 100 CTF matches to at least 3 captures), Thirty Minutes or Less (complete 100 VCTF matches to at least 3 captures), Paint the Town Red (complete 100 Deathmatch or Duel matches to at least 20 kills), Connect the Dots (complete 100 Warfare matches to at least 3 points), and Ranked Champion (win 500 ranked matches) will take you a while.

Overall: 8/10
Like I've said before in this review: the game is a fun fast-paced action shooter for the Xbox 360, so I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this style of game and those of you who have enjoyed the Unreal Tournament series in the past.
