Hey everyone! I thought that for my 100th post I would make a game. It's called River City Ransom: Gang War RPG. Plus, in this game you can win viz! So here's a brief description: you roleplay as a gang in the RCR universe (you can call your gang whatever you like). The entire point of the game is to capture territories which are worth Viz. There are 3 things you can do each turn or phase. You can capture an unclaimed territory or town, steal a territory from another player, or run away from the game. If you are interested read the rules below:

1. How to start playing-

You may enter the game at any phase. To start off say what your gang name is. Then, proceed as a normal turn.

2. What do I do on my turn?

On your turn you have 3 options. You can TAKE or STEAL a territory. When you TAKE a territory it means you control an area that is not currently owned by any other players. To STEAL means to try to control a territory that is controlled by another player. Stealing is risky but worth it. The third option is that you RUN AWAY from the gang war. This means you can take some of the Viz that your claimed territories are worth and leave the game. The areas that you previously owned are then destroyed.

3. How to TAKE territories-

Taking territories is easy. You merely state which territory you wish to take and it will be yours on the next turn.
FOR EXAMPLE, I would post:

My gang, the Dummies, will TAKE Cross Town HS

NOTE: No two players can TAKE the same territory and there is a limit 2 territories taken per turn (So, if I take a territory, then another player takes a territory, NO ONE ELSE may take a territory until the next turn.)

After you TAKE the territory you will learn how much Viz that the territory is worth. Territories can be worth anywhere from 100 to 500 Viz and their values are completely random.

4. How to steal territories-

When you STEAL a territory you attempt to take control of a territory that is owned by another player. Stealing requires luck. Normally when you attempt to STEAL a territory from someone there is a 25% chance that you will succeed. That's not very good odds. However, if you own a territory next to the one that you're trying to STEAL ("next to" means horizontally or vertically beside it), then there's a 50% chance of success. Also, if you are a higher level (on your Vizzed Board stats) than the player that you're trying to STEAL a territory from, there is a 50% chance of success. If you own a territory next to the one that you're stealing and you're of higher (not equal to!) level than the owner, then there's an 80% chance of success. It's vital to know when to STEAL and who to STEAL from according to these odds. As an example let's say I'm a level 2 that owns Cross Town HS and another player (we'll call him Tom) is a level 1 who owns Downtown. If I wanted to STEAL Downtown then I would post:

My gang, The Dummies, will attempt to STEAL Downtown from Tom.

In the above example, I would have a 50% chance of success to STEAL Downtown. Why? Well, I'm a higher level than Tom, but I don't own any territories next to Downtown.

NOTES: You may NOT STEAL a territory that someone is currently trying to TAKE, because technically they don't own it until the turn is over. Two players can never try to STEAL the same territory on the same turn. Plus, every time that a territory is stolen, that territory's value decreases by 10 Viz. Finally, THIS IS IMPORTANT, if you fail two attempts to STEAL, you get beat up (see below).

5. How to RUN AWAY from the game

If you feel like your territories are worth a good amount of Viz and you don't want them to be stolen, then you might want to RUN AWAY from the game. To RUN AWAY means to leave the game and take some or all of the Viz that your territories are worth with you. Once again, like stealing, it depends on luck. Normally, you have 50% chance of success. If you own a pair of shoes (from the Vizzed item shop) then you have a 75% chance of success. You also have a 75% chance if you have a speed of 50 or higher (once again in your Vizzed board stats). If you own a pair of shoes and your speed is 50 or higher, you have a 90% chance of success. How much Viz you'll recover after you escape depends on how many territories you own. If you have one territory, you'll get the full amount of Viz that the territory is worth. If you own 2 or 3 territories, you'll get half the Viz that their combined sum is worth. If you own 4 or more territories, you'll get one third of their combined value.

NOTE: If you fail two attempts to run away, you get beat up (see below).

So, heres an example. I own 3 territories. Ones worth 200 viz, the second one's worth 130, and the last one is worth 300. I also own a pair of shoes, but my speed is 20. If I want to run away, I would post this:

My gang, the Dummies, are going to try to RUN AWAY.

In this case, I would have a 75% chance of success because I own shoes. If I were to succeed then I would get half of the Viz that are my territories are worth because I own 3 territories. In the end I would get 315 Viz.

6. Getting beat up.

Getting "beat up" means what it is. You did something dumb, so the other gangs come over and beat the heck out of you. There are two ways to get beat up. First, two failed attempts to steal something can get you beat up. Secondly, two failed attempts at running away will get you beat up. Alright, so what happens when you get beat up? Well, you basically die. You're kicked out of the game and cannot return to it. All territories that you own in the game are now unowned and up for grabs.

7. FAQ

Do you get it now? It's not hard really, but you might still have some questions. We'll answer some of them here:

Q: So, what happens if I fail to steal or run away?

A: Well, then you failed. The action does not occur. You treat your next turn as usual.

Q: If I'm running away and somebody steals a territory from me while I'm doing it, do I still get that territory?

A: It all depends on who posted first. If you post that your running away BEFORE someone posts that they will territory from you, then you get away before they can steal it. If it's the other way around and you start running AFTER they try to steal it than they can still get it before you get away.

Q: In what order are events resolved?

A: The outcome of events told at the end of each phase are told in the order of which they are posted. Whoever posted first gets their outcome first, second goes second, etc.

Q: How do you (the GM) decide the outcome of random events such as stealing and running away? Is this game rigged?

A: No, I assure this is a fair game. All random events, such as stealing, running, and territory values, are calculated using the website random.org. I DON'T CONTROL THE OUTCOMES OF THESE EVENTS!

8. Alright, run this by me again....

The game is about using your gang to conquer territories. You have 9 territories that can be conquered. You can take unowned territories and steal territories owned by other gangs. The territories are worth different amounts of Viz which you will receive at the end of the game.

9. When does the game end?

As soon as all the territories are owned, the game goes into a phase known as MASSIVE WAR. During MASSIVE WAR players that don't own any territories cannot enter the game. Once MASSIVE WAR begins, the values of every territory go up by 20 Viz. After three turns of MASSIVE WAR, the game is over. Players who own territories will receive Viz for every territory that they own and AWARDS will be given out.

10. Did you say something about AWARDS?

Yes, this game has three special awards which are worth bonus Viz. The awards are:

THE GANGSTER AWARD-WORTH 100 viz: Awarded to the player who owns the most territories.

THE JERK AWARD-WORTH 50 viz: Awarded to the player who steals the most.

THE SLICK AWARD-WORTH 50 viz: Awarded to the player who owns RC High.

Awards are given out with any other Viz at the end of the game. If several players are tied for an award, then the Viz is divided so that they each get a fair share.

11.When does each phase begin/end?

I would like to update phases regularly at around 8:30 board time. If I forget or something turns up that I can't, I will update it later.

12. SPECIAL EVENTS

Special events occur randomly on phases. They may have effects like "All territory values increase by 10" or "No stealing is allowed during this phase". They greatly effect the game, so be ready for them!

13. Have fun with it!

Technically, this is still an RPG so be creative! Tell a backstory on your gang and why they've come to River City or throw little comments like "BARF!" into your posts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, this is the beginning of PHASE 1.

PHASE 2 will begin tomorrow, at 8:30

SPECIAL EVENT: NONE

Here are the current territories:
