Alright, this game is an awesome game beyond all your combined imaginations. The basic plot of this post-apocalyptic Action/Adventure game is that you are War, the First Horseman of the Apocalypse. You get called to Earth for the End-War, but something isn't right, none of the other Horsemen are there, and the Kingdom of Man isn't ready for the End-War, in other words, it's too early for the Apocalypse, but it's happening anyway for some reason. After walking around and killing some things you are called back to the Charred Council (the guys in charge of the Four Horsemen)and they accuse you of starting the Apocalypse early, and so decide to kill you. However, just before they kill you, you ask them for a second chance, a chance to find the real culprit, you reason that either the real culprit is found and punished, or the Demons of Hell and the Angels of Heaven kill you for them. So saying that, you are given a second chance and you walk off to kill a load of Demons and Angels (and befriend others) on the way to clearing your name.

Game-play 15/10
Although the game has the typical elements of any Hack 'n' Slash game (such as hugely over-sized weapons), Darksiders adds many more great features, such as a leveling-up system that levels up your weapons depending on use, rather than your character, and various attachments that have a variety of effects, from increasing the experience gain for that particular weapon, or making the weapon drain life on contact with enemies. There is also the great feature of a store, that requires Blue Souls to purchase items, combos, and even abilities. The fights are more than just button-mashing havoc, and most of the time you need to be able dodge, block and counter with some competence to beat Easy Mode! Also there is the ability to, after sufficiently weakening an enemy, do a special kill on them, which is an animation depending on the type of enemy that randomly chooses between two possibilities, in other words every type of enemy can be killed in two different ways. e.g. the bod-standard zombie (in this game they are known as Wicked), the two ways in which you can special kill Wicked are: 1) You simply pick them up by the head (or what's left of it) with your left hand and crush their skull. 2) You grab the Wicked by the leg and, via swinging it over you head, you splatter it against the ground. On top of all of this is my favourite part of the game, the fact that a large amount of the environment can be used as weapons, cars being one of the most common. My personal favourite environmental weapon is the lamp-post, you throw it like a javelin and is extremely useful for taking down those pesky flying enemies (which are really irritating seeing as your only actual ranged weapon is a pitifully weak gun).
Finally, now this is the part that will appeal to X-Box achievement slaves (such as myself), it isn't at all hard to get 1000/1000 on achievement scores, this is partly due to the fact that none of them are unreasonably hard, and that none of them need online play, due to the game not having any online mode at all.

Music ?/10
I didn't really listen (I was too busy hacking demons to bits), and I'm not even sure if it has music.

Variety 4/10
This is where the game let itself down a bit there are 2 main parts to this bit of my review:
1)The enemies. Obviously the developers ran out of their near infinite imagination here, because when you get to a certain point in the game, the enemies are just powered up and different coloured versions of earlier enemies, although there are a few new enemies even later on, it's still only a few new types of enemies and most of those are bosses (which get their own section in this review).
2) The weapons. You get five weapons, that is all, two of them are upgrades, one you get at the very end of the story, and the other is a cheat code weapon. It's pitiful. You get a huge sword, called Chaoseater (mentioned earlier), a Scythe, and the Tremor Gauntlet ( a metal glove that pretty much makes Mike Tyson's punches look like a new born baby's punches). Admittedly the weapons have a variety of combos and moves each, but they are still just three weapons, for the entire game.

So overall, even with the pitiful variety, the game still gets an average of 9.5/10, because the game-play is just that good.
