Super Metroid, being my favorite game in the Metroid Franchise, is one of those home-hitters. Most gaming franchises have one, but Super Metroid has all the likeability of Metroid and more. This game is where the story really takes off. At the time of the SNES, this game was overlooked; Yet looking back, we realize how this game holds more than we ever realized. Super Metroid's sounds, music, graphics, and story have created the iconic ones that were repeated in later games. This game introduces the original themes of the Metroid bosses, as this game (being 16 bit) has the power to pack a punch when it comes to introduction and content. The entire beginning of this game is a whole package of story exposition, atmosphere setting, and one hell of a hidden tutorial. You learn how to run, jump, shoot, and survive once your life is threatened by your long standing nemesis Ridley. It is kind of ingenious how the creators were able to combine all this into a 2 minute area at the start of the game, without making it feel cramped. The rest of the game following the tutorial is Samus Aran's rise to Bad Assery. The bosses, the enemies, powerups, areas, storyline, all make this game worth purchasing at full price on console. Or... just playing it here, on vizzed. Either way, I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone willing to try something new.
