"The Lord said 'Let there be light'
and there was light,
and The Lord saw that it was good". Genesis
This is what you preach
to me.
This is what you claim
to see.
"And I stood upon the sand
of the sea and saw a beast
rise up..." Revelation 13:1
This is what you always
preach.
Why can't you see you are the
beast?
The wind cannot force the
mountain to move.
Just what can you
hope to prove?
"They shall be as thorns in your
sides,
and their gods shall be a snare
onto you". Judges 2:2
You have always brought the
storm
because you have always been the
thorn.
"Do you not see
how much he eats and drinks
everyday?" Bel and the Serpent 1:6
A blind man could see how much you
eat;
how much you can steal from under our
feet.
A man in darkness could see how much you
drink;
draining the lives of those around you. Driving them to the
brink.
"He took not away the pillar of cloud
by day,
nor the pillar of fire by night". Exodus 13:22
You preach this to me
and yet you still can't see.
Though your family's cries of agony are
loud,
you still took away the pillar of cloud.
Though they are in a situation most
dire,
you still would take the pillar of
fire.
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers...
Joshua, Judges, Ruth...
Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon
Your daughters recite them
again and again.
They try to make you proud.
Do they mean nothing to you?
Okay this one is based off of a character named Nathan Price and his family from the Barbara Kingsolver novel 'The Poisonwood Bible'. I know I made a thread similar to this one with this poem in it, but I don't know if it's still on. So if any mods find that thread still alive feel free to kill it.
