I thought this would fit best in Entertainment. I was going to make it a regular post, but I'm afraid of spam.

I've played a card game with my family called "May I?"

It costs 50 cents each. There are 6 hands total. You get 11 cards each. The goal of every hand is to end your turn with no cards in your hand.

You get rid of cards by having the right cards in your hand. For example, the second hand you need a 3 and a 4. A 3 means a set of at least 3 cards of the same number regardless of suit. A 4 means a run of at least 4 consecutive cards of the same suit. When you have both a 3 and a 4 in your hand, you can choose to lay your cards on the table. Once your cards are down, you can play your cards on the sets and runs that others have laid down. That's how you reduce your cards.

The number of sets and runs for each hand is determined by adding. The first hand is two 3s (3+3=6). The second hand is a 3 and a 4 (3+4=7). The third hand is two 4s (4+4=7)... The sixth hand is two 4s and a 3 (4+4+3=11). You get the idea.

Each time it is someone's turn, they draw a card from either the top of the deck or the top of the discard pile (discard pile faces up). If they have not laid cards down, they can decide whether they want to (if they can). If their cards are down, they can check the table to see if they can play any of their cards on any of the sets or runs that are down. When they finish, they discard a card from their hand. If someone else discards a card that they want and it is not their turn, they can say "May I?." They can be denied if someone who is ahead of them (based on turn order) wants it. Using a May I? requires that you take the top card on the discard pile and the top card on the deck. A player only gets three successful "May I?"s per hand. After it is completed, the next player can only draw from the deck.

As I said before, you win a hand by getting rid of all your cards (by playing them on sets and runs). The winner of each hand gets 25 cents. At the end of a hand everyone else counts up the points in their hand. Number cards are worth as many points as the number on the card. Face cards are 10 points. Aces are 15 points. Jokers are 50 points. In the game, a Joker can be substituted for any card. That's why they're worth so much (if you don't play it, you deserve the penalty). Whoever has the lowest total score at the end of the 6th hand gets all the leftover money.

4-6 people can play the game. If 6 people play, there will be 12 quarters. 6 of those quarters go towards the winners of each hand. The remaining 6 go to whoever had the lowest score. The low score prize is based on how many people are playing.

I like it because I can win money and I'm too young to go to a casino. It's good for killing time on a rainy day or at a dull party.

If this fits somewhere else, feel free to move it. I wasn't sure about General Forum so I put it here.
