Pokemon Yellow was the first computer game I ever played. I was 4 or 5 when I got it and I didn't understand a word. My favourite pokemon from generarion 1 is after a lot of concideration Mew because it is so rare.

spectergaj : No, as I said I was 4 or 5 at the time and didn't speak english so I did lits of stuff wrong and was lucky to even finish the game a few years later. For example I wasted a master ball on a Graveler and killed Zapdos. Later on I got pokemon silver and stopped playing yellow.

I have been a player since the series originally started. I have beaten EVERY main game of the pokemon dynasty.

Still...

NOTHING captures the wonder in me like the original three. Blue, Red, and Yellow. (I even have beaten Jap. only green)

The first games still amaze me.

legacyme3 : I have to agree with you there... nothing beats the charm of the original games.

You know, it's funny how I've come to rely on the running shoes later on. I'm replaying the first gen games and it's really annoying me, but it makes me realize that not even that can beat the satisfaction of watching my Charmeleon crush Brock's pokemon! I don't have my first save file anymore, but imagine if you could find the first one. I think mine would show how much my battle style has changed! But doesn't that kinda make you want to try and find it if you can?

I was around to experience Pokemon when it first graced America. I used to just watch the show but then I saw my cousin play Pokemon. My parents decided to let me get a Game Boy Color. My first two games were Pinball and Blue. Oh man I was a slow kid back in the day. I did not understand what to do at all. Those memories were bittersweet. I remember picking Charmander and accidentally nicknaming him something like "AAABCKLLLX" or something like that lol. My cousin played with my game and just wasted all of my money until I was down to 27 Poke$ (I remember that number clearly). I eventually got better and had a Level 86 Charizard I believe by the time I reached the Elite Four. I just beat Lance but I didn't know that I couldn't save in the next room so I faced Gary hurt. Naturally I lost. Then I turned the game off in anger. However, when I turned the game back on, my file was gone.

One time I made Vaporeon my main man. I turned the game on and the file was gone. Then I took the cartridge out, blew it (good times), and magically it returned! That never happened before. I've had so many files that I can't even remember the team that I first beat the game with. Well, that's a little misleading. To this day I spend all of my time training ONE Pokemon to beat everyone. After I beat the game is when I begin to train others and form my ideal team. I usually just put my legendaries on my team for back up (or if I need a super effective attack on a dragon type or something). Old habits die hard.

Yeah, when Pokemon first came around, I was convinced by my parents that they were just some stupid new fad that wasn't good for you. My bro had a GBC, still has it too. It's lime green. But I was always angry that my parents refused to get me one or get me a GBA. My bro discovered the computer emulator, so it was not until after we moved, which was when I was around 11, that I tried Pokemon and found out my parents were completely wrong. I think Blue was the first on I played, but my first starter was Charmader.

Talking about habits not dying, it was from that first game I started my tradition of training my first pokemon to lvl 10 and catching a pokemon catcher pokemon so I could catch pokemon later on. Other than that, I don't really remember my first game!

I love the old games. The first Pokemon games I ever owned were Yellow and Stadium. I had that thing that lets you use the Pokemon you have from Yellow in Stadium. Pwning my friends with my Pokemon was just fun.

Back to Yellow, I got Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Mew (yes, my brother told me about the cheat when he was still a Pokemon fan) and one I can't remember all to lvl 100. I pwned the Elite Four and Gary. I wuz happy :3

Yellow was the first game I got for my gameboy color. I played that thing soooo many times through it isn't funny. The pokemon I used the most was Haunter, Kadabra, Mew, Charizard, Gyrados, and some other sixth pokemon. No I never used gameshark to get Mew I would get him through the glitch, which is lengthy or I would post it here since some people seem interested. I'm actually playing Yellow right now on my gbc, which beat to hell XD.

Zamiel : Well I figured everybody already knew that glitch. Click here to learn about it

Anyways, I love the Gen. 1 games. I personally like Red/Blue more then Yellow, even if it isn't in color and the Pokemon sprites in battle sucked. It has a nostalgic touch to it; I really like it.

I can't say I have beaten every Gen I game. I beat the Red cartridge, but I didn't bother filling in my Pokédex. I'm also working on finishing the original Stadium (also cartridge). I guess I should play the other 3 Gen I games if I'm in the VPFC.

I played my old Yellow version a lot. I never figured out the Mew glitch, but I DID figure out both variations of the Missingo glitch on my own. I felt so proud of myself when I did.

Now that I think about it, the Missingo glitch was in Blue version. I don't know if I tried it in Yellow.

I played yellow a lot, now only crystal because I can't stand how old the graphics are on yellow and this is coming from a person who plays all types of retro games like Lords of Magic, classic Diablo etc etc. Still I like it a lot more then any other game. Some day they might give a wifi version of it a shot for the wii, there is another thread for that but it is something to look forward too.

I remember I swapped starter pokemon all the time, then I would either go with spearow or pidgey as my first catch. I would usualy get a quick buterfree before the first gym badge. Typically had a nidoking or queen right after MT. Moon. Because you give it the stone right at 16 so it learns the good moves. I remember the item glitch to get infinite rare candies etc. Also remember getting Mew twice however I forget exactly how I did it, so I can't help you out there.

I must have been either 7 or eight, my first Pokemon game was Blue version for GBColor. I tried filling in Pokedex later on, but did things like faint Mewtwo, and Articuno, and Moltres. I only played through it once, got 3 pokemon to lv 100, and the rest in the 90s. I guess I was new, i didnt like plan ahead, or do things the right way. I didnt care, I just had fun playing through it. My starter was Squirtle, god was Brock easy.

First time I heard of Pokemon was when I entered a Chinese fast food restaurant with my mom and another kid was playing the game. I asked what it was and he let me play it for a while, I too was young at the time. First I got blue then red and soon after I got yellow all of them were great games. I also know how to get Mew but I'm sure everyone figured it out already.

I caught my Mewtwo in my Pokémon Red game. It is unnaturally godly in Pokémon Stadium battles. I won Prime Cup Master Ball fairly easily.

To bad their is no future for it, it is not that difficult to remake games, Nintendo does it all the time for Wii, such as 007 goldeneye which is terrible because daniel craig isn't james bond and never will be. True Nintendo has a bad reputation with remaking games because they are bad at it, but they should still give it a try. Imagine playing it on my 58" plasma!!

I am playing firered right now and it is fun and the same as the originals except a couple minor changes and graphics, however now that I am at Badge #6 I see there isn't really anywhere to go when I am done. I guess soul silver would be better because you get two regions, however thats only for ds not GBA. That was the one pitfall of generation I, being the first generation it was limited on things you could do and you eventually after so many hours get bored of it. What did they say typically 20 hours to complete the game.
