I recently got Advance Map 1.92 from the source site (I had version 1.8.2.0 that I used to find the site for the new version). I also got a few other programs including Advance Text 3.1 (for script editing).

I got FireRed for editing. I loaded Pallet Town on my old Advance Map (version 1.8.2.0) and expanded the size of Pallet Town. I filled it in with various terrain along with a man. I used Advance Text to create a script for the man. I ran a series of tests and watched some YouTube videos to get the text to work in the game. I did the same thing with a nearby sign. All of that stuff now works. I also edited the Movement Permissions so they fit the terrain.

I added some grass to an area near a lake and decided to fill it with Magikarp for fun (Magikarp seemed like the only water Pokemon dumb enough to wash up on shore).

Setting 1: When I enter the grass before getting a Pokemon, either a Magikarp or a Missingno appears as the wild Pokemon. My person always throws out a Level 0 Missingno that knows no attacks and has 0 HP. As soon as I click FIGHT or RUN (I always get "Can't escape!"), the battle ends, I lose, I give up 8 dollars and I scurry back home. I expected something like this. My mom heals my Pokemon (even though I have none) and I go on my way. POKEMON does not appear as an option in the menu. From here, I can either go back to the grass and repeat the process or I can initiate Setting 2.

Setting 2: I can do this regardless of whether I attempt Setting 1 or not. If I go through the whole 'get a Pokemon and battle my Rival' stuff first, I leave Oak's Lab with a Pokemon (Bulbasaur if it matters). That set of events runs normally. When I go to the patch of grass, I automatically use my starter. The wild Pokemon varies. It is either a Missingno or a Magikarp. The only attack I've seen Missingno use is Tackle.

My settings for wild Pokemon in Grass are all set to Magikarp with Min Level 2 and Max Level 3. The encounter ratio is 130 (50%). These settings were initially done on Advance Map 1.8.2.0. When I started having trouble, I redid this section on Advance Map 1.92. This was the only section I edited using Advance Map 1.92. If it matters, "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed" message appears when I start and the game gives me a save error if I try to save. It tells me to exchange the backup memory. I'm not sure what other background information to give.

On to the real problem...

I don't care too much about the Missingno, although I would like them to be gone. The problem comes after the battle in Setting 2 regardless of whether I defeat the wild Pokemon. It also doesn't matter which Pokemon I fight (Missingno or Magikarp). When the battle ends, if I lose then I restart at home the same way Setting 1 ended (go home and be healed). Technically, nothing bad happens so it's no big deal.

If I win, I get 1 exp and return to the map. The start button (Enter on my VBA) works normally, as does every menu option. However, my avatar is unable to move. The Old Man sprite that I created nearby changes to a copy of my sprite (very similar, but not identical). This sprite is unable to reach the lake and grass area, but can go anywhere else. Starting a battle in the regular grass at the top of the screen works.

Another little thing I noticed is that the first strip of grass that you go through to reach Route 1 is now listed as part of Pallet Town. In Advance Map, that area does not appear in Pallet Town or in Route 1. Magikarp and Missingno are the only Pokemon that appear in this grass.

I have not edited any other locations (Towns, Routes, etc.) in the game.

I'll attach a picture that shows what happens if I beat the Missingno. The sprite on the right is my regular one. I battled Missingno in that patch of grass. The sprite on the left replaced the Old Man sprite that I had inserted (it's supposed to be the old bald guy with blue clothes). The new sprite looks like me, except my hat is gray and my clothes have changed to a more bluish color. The new sprite is in the exact location that the Old Man used to be. If I leave this spot I can go anywhere, except for at least two specific spots. I know of two, but there could be more. I can not return to the spot he is on in the picture. I also can not go on the spot above the nearby sign. This prevents me from checking the rest of the area beyond the sign.

Everything I did was done on my old Advance Map (version 1.8.2.0) unless stated otherwise. I now have both that version and Advance Map 1.92.

Does anyone know what's going on here? If you need any more details to answer my question, don't hesitate to ask.
