Hmmmm... it seems quite a few things have been going on. Guess I can't exactly be of much help when I'm getting trampled upon by school work. Anyway... about the Sigs/Wallpapers... I am a little wary of who exactly to ask about this. You see, we can't just blurt out on some forum, the existance of this site, as to get some artists. By doing that, we would reveal the site before it is ready... which is specifically what we are trying to avoid doing.

Jake, what are your thoughts on this? I would gladly ask elsewhere, but I need to know if you have any guidelines we should follow when trying to give out this information to potential artists. I would like to keep this as much of a "secret" until the time of launch, if possible. However, I also realize that it kind of clashes with the whole idea of advertising to attract artists to help us out... which kind of puts me in a bind.

With so little time left, I think we need to go to whatever measures must be taken to make sure we have the art in time. If that means revealing the website, I'm ok with that.

Depending on Symphonic, our earliest possible launch date is this coming Thursday. I've talked to Nathan on the phone, and while he said he won't be able to get ALL of the changes done by then, he should be able to get the most critical ones, such as David's name, taken care of. The music is definitely going to be a "later" thing.

That being said, I will ask for artists in other places as well.

We'll see how this thing goes. The art would be nice to have, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't have it specifically for the launch. With any luck, we'll at least have most of them done by then though.

Anyway... my requirement for the artists would be:
- The Signature must mention the CTP group in some way.
- Must have at least PART of the displayed image in it.
- Any additional artwork must pertain to CT.
- Must be appropriate for the purpose of this petition.

Here's a suggestion.

The main reason we want to keep the site secret right now is to avoid having people print out, sign, and send in the petitions prematurely. If they cannot get to the petition files from the site, we won't have to worry about that.

So, Remove the petition files from the site, i.e. take them out of whatever area the site loads them from. Then, if anybody tries clicking on the site's links to the petitions, they'll get an "Error 404 -- File Not Found" page. If you do that, we can safely show the site to more people.

Of course, if we did that, we'd also have to move the Extra Downloads thread to this forum or something so that nobody except us could access it, since the site will soon contain links to the normal forum where people could otherwise locate copies of the petition.

And we'd also have to remove all links to the petitions that exist in places like CTRP, since me and Apoc have been known to supply those folks with links to show them our progress...

But still, doing all this would mean we'd be able to show the site to pretty much whomever we want. And then, on Launch Day, we can put the petition files back up (and move the Extra Downloads thread back to the normal forum) so people can access and use them.

I just doubt that that's all needed is all. For me, the reason wasn't to keep people from sending in the petition prematurely... The more, the merrier! The reason was just to keep everyone and their dog from seeing the cool Flash. But eh, we're close enough, so it doesn't really matter that much.

We don't want people to try to sign the petition early and become discouraged when it doesn't work. They might not come back.

Which is why I personally would like for the petition to be working now (and all the petition links do work) so that they can go ahead and send the petition to my PO Box if they wish.

Just thought I would mention; I think I may have found someone on the Compendium that would be willing to do some work in regards to the wallpapers. He seems quite skilled... so if he really does intend to work on a wallpaper or two; it would be quite nice. I'll extend the offer also to some of my friends who are a bit more... artistically inclined. While they are indeed lazy, and also just as busy as I am... it couldn't exactly hurt to ask them. It would be nice to have at least a few of the signatures/wallpapers ready before the launch.

I don't think that'll be necessary. I've talked to him and told him to make sure to at least get David's "name" error fixed by the launch. Other than that, the site is presentable and viewers won't know that it's not 100% done. They'll see the other changes as "updates," such as with the extra song we'll add, etc.

Anyway, Nathan knows there will be hell to pay if he doesn't get that "name" error fixed by launch. He says there's physically not enough time for him to fix everything we've asked for, so the "name" one will have to do for now. He'll come through.

I found someone in the Compendium who seems willing to do at least one signature or wallpaper. He still seems a little confused as to what to do in regards to pictures necessary for use; despite me trying to explain a few times, so you might want to check out the thread I made so as to better explain it to him.

The post is in the "General Discussion" part of the forum. Take a look if you want. It seems he has some prior experience... so it seems we at least have one artist willing to help.

Jake, I must remind you that darkening the text on the Home page is also extremely important. ZeaLitY might not mention us on the Compendium if we don't do that.

I thought you were just going to ask people for help and inform them that if they agree to help, then you'd PM them the site link! Don't just go blatantly showing it to everyone on the Compendium, that's the best way to get it out before we want it to!

Not everyone in those forums can be trusted to keep the site a secret until the launch. The only way to ensure that the site is a surprise on Launch Day is if we DON'T SHOW IT TO ANYONE. As it is right now, anyone who is in those forums (which is quite a number of people on most days) can waltz into that thread, click on the link, take a look at the site, save it to their Favorites, and show it to their friends -- even if they haven't agreed to help us!

True, this problem also exists in CTRP and here in the Vizzed forums -- we've posted links to the site in both places. But CTRP and Vizzed aren't nearly as popular as the Compandium, and don't have nearly as many registered members. Thus, the risk involved in putting a link in the Compendium right now is much, MUCH higher.

Luckily, not too many people have seen the thread yet, so there's still time to do damage control. But Apoc, you need to take down that link IMMEDIATELY. And edit your first post on the thread to say that you'll PM the site link to anyone who agrees to help us. I will PM Zeality and ask him to move the thread to the Kajar Laboratories forum (which is where all Fan-Project threads are supposed to go), since it'll get more attention there and will possibly attract more artists. But first you've gotta take down that link.

Ok. Lets make a little scenario here. Lets say a person, lets call him "Apok", went to this "cornpendium" to post a quick request. Of course; "Apok" never actually intended to STAY at this "cornpendium"... hence he did not register. Being the 'smart' fellow that he was, "Apok" decided to use the simple guest functions... as guests could post in these forums. "Apok" checked his posts with great care; for he knew that he would be unable to *edit* these posts since he was not a member. "Apok" made his request, and one fellow happened to agree to help with this request. "Apok" then went back to his USUAL forums (from whence the request came) and thus delivered the news. Let us here, introduce a new character. We shall call him "Stoned_Man". "Stoned_Man" looks over "Apok"'s post, and goes over to the "cornpendium" to take make sure all is going well with the request process. There he finds that "Apok", made a serious error. "Apok" apparently posted information which was to be kept secret. Of course, not many had viewed this yet... and hence "Stoned_Man", believing there was still hope, asked "Apok" to simply edit the information out of his original message. Of course, "Apok" knew full well that editing a guest message was a pure impossibility. So, being the generally honest person, "Apok" went and told what had happened...


Now then. Seeing this situation fleshed out well enough... what would one believe the outcome to be for this "Apok"? Keep in mind, "Apok" saw something along the lines of:

"Stoned_Man" overreacts a lot. I mean ok so the site address is out. No big deal. Someone should just post that it's not quite 100% finished yet. It's not a big deal. We lauch officially soon anyways. Besides these are true CT fans, they shouldn't really be going bananas on a few small things. The only really noticeable thing is NAME.

I was hoping we could keep the site at least moderately secret right up until the launch. It would not only be a great surprise to everyone, but it might get us a starting burst of popularity. But with a leak like this, we might as well do the launch ahead of schedule, since what will be the point of not publicizing the site if everyone knows about it?

So...the message cannot be edited? *Groan* I guess we have no choice, then. I'll send that PM to ZeaLitY...

Really like I say I don't seem much point in secrecy anymore. I mean don't go posting it on Google.... yet.

Perhaps "Stoned_Man" is hotheaded. Or perhaps he's just nervous and excited since he's become a part of a really big project (let's call it the "Krono Triggur Remak Petitshun") and just wants to make sure everything goes well, since unlike a video game, he won't get a second chance to do things over.

This "Stoned_Man" sounds more like a druggie to me, judging by the name.

I'm with Vash here, I don't think the leak is a big deal. Just make an additional post saying we're still tweaking a few things here and there (and we are!), and heck, even include in that post that the font will be darkened soon.

I don't believe that ZeaLitY would neglect mentioning the site solely on the grounds of "the font should be darker," but if he's ever worked on or with a Flash site in his life (which I doubt), he should know that even a simple font color change can take time. Especially with this Flash artist! If he mentions it, just reassure him that *EVERY* issue has been addressed and is being taken care of. In the meantime, if anyone has trouble reading the text, we have not disabled the Zoom feature, so you can right-click in the Flash areas and choose Zoom In to read the text if you need to. (I have to do that to read the Imagine article.)

By the way, anyone here besides me about to wet your pants with anticipation over the Chronicles Of Narnia movie?
