Just to catch people up. Pokemon black and white will be the 5th gen of pokemon. the games come out on Sept 18th 2010 in Japan and will be released in the spring time of 2011 in North America and Europe. The straters are as follow (english names not known yet)

NEW BATTLES

Probably the most radical and maybe best change is that the camera durring battle moves around and the pokemon move. They arnt just still sprites they are fully animated. Battles will also be alot faster than Gen 4 games and HGSS.

Another big thing is the addition of Triple Battles. These are going to be much more strategic battles and will be more complicated. First you have three pokemon on the field at a time. One is in the front middle, another in the back left, and the last one is on the back right. you can move your pokemon but this will take up your turn. All pokemon on your side can hit your opponents middle pokemon. The pokemon on the Left and right cant attack your oppenents pokemon that is farthest from them, only the middle or the pokemon straight ahead of them.

Also revealed on the Augustv30th was Combination attacks. This will involve using certain attacks in a certain order to bring out new effects. Three were shown, all involving the starters special attacks. If you use Grass Oath and then use Fire Oath you will create a field of fire to burn you enemies and cause damage. If you use Water Oath then Fire Oath you can create a rainbow (water then fire evaporates it) and it will make it so that the secondary effects of moves such as burn when using flamethrower will work more often. the last example revealed is use Water Oath and then Grass Oath to create wetlands to slow down your enemies.

Another new type of battle is the rotational battle. In this type of battle you will send out 3 pokemon and you can switch you pokemon around at any time during the battle. Also the pokemon that is in front is the only one that can attack so when you spin the stage the one in front is the one that is attacking.

The last update to battles so far is that when battling another person you can now use items, but there is a certain way to do this. Each of your turns you will receive points (how many you get and how this is determined is yet to be told) and you can spend these points to get and use items such as X Attack, Revives, and so on.

The Battle Subway is also new. It seems like in might replace the Battle Frontier but that is yet to be comfirmed. The Battle Subway is pretty much the Battle Tower. 7 opponents and if you win all of them you get battle points to spend. Also just like the Battle Tower there seems to be a Battle Subway leader like Palmer of the Battle Tower.

VERSION DIFFERENCES

As usual there are different pokemon in each version. Gochiruzeru is exclusive to black and so is Resheram.

Rankurusu is exclusive to White and so is Zekrom.

Now the biggest Version exclusive thing ever was revealed. Cities and Town will look different in each version. Also there are areas that are exclusive to different versions. White will have a forest that Black doesnt have and Black will have a town that White doesnt have.

NEW FEATURES

The biggest feature revealed so far is that along with night and day there will be seasons also. These seasons will last a month. This means that you go through all the seasons in 4 months. This also adds some other interesting things. During the different seasons you can catch different pokemon. So you may get 3 months out of the year to catch a certain pokemon. Also you can access different areas during different seasons. Durring the winter snow piles can help you reach high up places that were previously unreachable. The last thing about the seasons so far is that Shikijika (Seasonal Pokemon) will change color depending on the season. Pink in the spring, green in the summer, orange in the fall, and brown in the winter.

Another new thing is the C-Gear. This will take up the bottom screen like the Poketch. This will always be on the lookout for other people that you can play with and also be on the lookout for wifi to connect to. When you pass by another person taht is playing it will tell you all of there trainer info. It will tell you how they are doing if they are in a battle and if there pokemon is low on health and more.

The High Link is another Wirless connection option. This will allow you to connect to friends and walk around with them. There will also be missions to do to get items.

The game also can connect to the internet and has many things to do there. To get to the internet (or as it is called in the game "The Dream World") you will need to have a Munna or Musharna or be linked to the C-Gear with wifi. Once you are connected you can send one pokemon from your box to the Dream World. Once there you can play minigames on the site and even encounter and befriend other pokemon there. If you do befriend pokemon there in the Dream World you can bring them back to your game and capture them. Pokemon you catch in the Dream World will have different abilities than normal.

One thing that shocked me the most is that there are no berries in the Isshu region. The only way to get berries is to grow them in the Dream World. Once they are grown there you can bring them back to your game to use.

Once you have linked to the Dream World you can then battle random trainers at the Pokemon Center. Your ranking will also be posted on the website. Also you can get downloadable content for your game. Like how you could get different backgrounds for you boxes you can now get new covers for you Pokedex and get new backgrounds for you Pokedex and C-Gear.

Another thing is the Pokemon Musical. This will replace Contests and will have you decorating you pokemon and then putting them in a musical. You will be required to keep up with the music (how has not been shown) and if you do well the audience may throw items for you to keep. Just like contest you will be ranked on how you preform and you decorations. Also on the site you can get more music as downloadable content.

Just a amazing thing that was also revealed was that TMs now dont go away after one use. They will now be like HMs and can be used as many times as you would like.

There also is a new thing to replace Pal Park. This will be a simple minigame called the PokeShifter. It will require 2 DS's and will you shooting pokeballs at your pokemon from all previous games in order to capture them and bring them to your game.

One last thing is the Live Caster. Here you can talk with friends over wifi and doodle and stamp. If you own a DSi DSiXL or 3DS you can do video Live Casters. Characters in the game will also do Live Casters with you.


CHARACTERS AND THE ISSHU REGION

Once again english names are not yet revealed.

Professor Araragi

The professor of the game. The professor is a woman this time. She lives in the same town as you and your TWO rivals.

Makomo

Makomo is a assistant of the Professor and is interested in the Global link and gives you the C-Gear in the game.

Cheren

Cheren is your boy rival in the game. He will get a starter pokemon at the same time as you and will battle you quite a bit.

Belle

Belle is your female rival in the game. She gets a starter pokemon at the same time as you. She is unreliable and will come at the wrong times and will battle you during the game at times.

N

N is a mysterious trainer that appears during the game. He has an idea that Pokemon are friends and should not be used for battling and yet he battles you during the game (ok...makes sense). He seeks the power to seperate Pokemon and there owners.

Team Plasma

They are the evil Team of the game. Not much else is known.

Sanyou Gym: this gym will test your knoledge of pokemon types and weaknesses, its leader is Dento and he is a Grass type leader that was revealed in the Anime Preview.
