fdragon010 : One of the producers of the series confirmed that the story has two parallel timelines, the Adult and Child Timelines, because of the time paradox started by Link at the end of Ocarina(it's confusing, yes, but it makes a load of sense once you get it.)
SilverMaestro : I guess that could be true that Zelda and Link didn't have relations... perhaps Malon? xD
I mean, I suppose that Link could've... ahem... you know, with Zelda and then went on to Termina in Majora's Mask

I think there is something like a "Spirit of Link" it just goes along and gets inside of a little kid or something after the previous Link died. that would explain why there are so many different links (this is proved because some Links have brown hair and some have blond. And i9 suppose there is also a "Spirit of Zelda" that would somehow be magneticaly attached to the "Spirit of Link", which would be why there is a Zelda to save in every game.

actually if u look at the history of princess zelda you'll know that every hyrulian princess is to be named after the pricess that was placed under a sleeping spell. it was decreed that all future princesses were to be named zelda after that one

bman1683 : But I was talking about how Link's descendants work. Are they like, literally "reincarnations," or is it like actual descendants where Link goes and has a family with someone?
In a way, I think it's kind of both.

mdynasty926 : Well, all through Link to the Past they kept saying that Link had the blood of the Hero in his veins. when I played Ocarina I assumed they meant the Hero of Time. I don't know how Twilight Princess fits...anyway I know Link to the Past was meant as a prequel to the orgianl game and Link 2, and Link's Awakining is probably a sequel to Link to the Past.

Now you know why my head hurts...

Maybe it is a little of both? Maybe the original Link is somehow guiding his decedents through their adventures against Ganon.

fdragon010 : Well, think of it this way. Because Link decided to go back to Zelda at the end of Ocarina, it started a time paradox. Basically, to make it short, Link warns Zelda ahead of time that Ganondorf is going to do all the bad stuff he did in the game, and after that Link heads off to find Navi since she left at the end of the game, leading into Majora's Mask.
Ganondorf is sentenced to death, which Twilight Princess shows in the game, but he succeeded in cheating death thanks to his Triforce of Power. They called this timeline the "Child Timeline," since the Hero of Time was a child in this timeline.
In the other timeline, it's the "Adult" timeline, where the Adult Hero of Time was. But since Zelda sent the adult Link back to his childhood, there was no more Link in Hyrule for that timeline, so when Ganondorf came back and started to mess stuff up, the Triforce Goddesses had no other option than to flood the place, which you can tell by Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, etc.
Except, I'm not sure where the other games tie in to this. There's lots of theories and crap that people have and I'm not entirely sure if we want to talk about those

mdynasty926 : I would think that Link to the Past follows Twilight Princess, seeing as how, you know, Hyrule is not flooded in Link to the Past. I guess that the original and Link 2 followed that time line as well, once again because Hyrule is not flooded.

Unless at some point the Link from Wind Waker and Zelda find land and make a new Hyrule, for some reason...

fdragon010 : Yeah, I think you might be right about that.
And, in the Wind Waker timeline, I think Spirit Tracks on the DS is set in a "New Hyrule" where it's a completely different land entirely, not the same place, but, that doesn't mean your idea isn't true.
Oh, and I never actually played any of the DS ones so anyone can correct me if I'm wrong xD

We should try and keep this about Link himself and his descendents or reincarnations or whatever as we already have my timeline theory (which if I do say so myself is fairly sound) over at https://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/thread.php?id=9529&ppp=20&page=0#145617 (as well as whatever other people have posted, but mine is best )

As far as I'm concerned there is most likely 4 heroes called Link, well it will be 5 with Skyward Sword.

My view:
The Trifore part move on to someone completly random as the bearer dies.
The Links never had to be related in any way besides bearing the same name, destiny, and Three triangles from wich the left is colored in, in the shape of a bigger triangle on there left hands.
And it is chosen who will save(courage) or destroy(power) the world and who will need to be saved like the useless princess she is(wisdom) one day, when the child is born.
As far as i can tell, so far it ends with WindWaker or PhantomHourglass, not sure.
Also all Ganons and Ganondorfs are the same, so he is like, over NineThousand years old
