Every girl in my family always has a certain name in their name, either their first or middle name. There is actually a family legend based on this. They say that long ago in Germany there was a drought, and one of our ancestors prayed to a saint, and promised that if she lifted the drought then he would name his first daughter after this saint. Well the drought lifted and every since then the females in my family have been named after this saint. I always thought it was pretty cool.

Yes I was born after my father.
The majority of my family are dominantly male and my name is common within it.
Not every male family member of mines name is Kenny.
Myself..my father...my great grandfather and so on.
When and If I decide to have children and it's a boy...his name isn't going to be Kenny that's for sure! it would be too confusing....

No, this isn't very common where I live in, but there's a funny story about my name. My mom wished to name her daughter a certain name (let's say, A) since she was a kid. Then a couple of years before I was born a cousin was born and her mother named her A. So my mom changed her mind and decided to name me B. However, when she told my future aunt my new name she replied "B, like that medical condition?" (the name don't sound as a disease, really, but it is an ugly name), so my name was changed again, now to C. Then, about 1 week before I was delivered, another cousin was born and named C. So guess what? I was born without a name. No need to worry, people, that was fixed a few days later

Ooh nice thread! I was named in honor of my Grandpa Francisco, although, my Dad went simply with Frank. Sometimes I dream of how different my life would have been had I been named Francisco. Perhaps my Latino/Hispanic friends (most of my friends) would accept me more as Latino and not joke around as much. I'm making them sound messed up lol but naw, I like simple names and exotic and even odd names. That's why I've been called Frank, Francisco, and Felix before.
