Hey there everybody. I was wondering what everyone's opinion on this theory is. If you haven't heard of it yet, the link to the theory is here...

http://www.squallsdead.com/

I think this theory makes too much sense to be discounted as a complete crackpot theory. Long before I heard of this theory 2 things always stuck out in my mind in particular.

1. It is never explained why Squall wasn't murdered to death after being impaled by a 4 foot ice spike.

2. I honestly can't remember which Garden it is, I think it was the one that Irvine was from orginally, but nontheless one of them at one point in the game completely disappears off of the face of the planet. It's simply not there anymore.

Plus after watching the ending with this theory in mind it only cements the possibility in my head further.

I haven't played FF8 in years, although I should again shortly to judge for myself, but what does everyone else here think of this theory?

I think that the guy who came up with that theory has a little bit too much time on his hands to stop and think about that whole scenario. I always believed that ellone herself healed Squall. She does have the power to send them back to the past so you never know what other powers she might have. Why do you think that Ultimecia wanted her so badly. Thats just what I think though.

Galbadia Garden, where Irvine is from, doesn't disappear. It becomes mobile just like Balamb Garden, and the two gardens collide in a fight. Maybe you didn't realize it, or just forgot about it.

Also, the characters get hit by lightning, set on fire, and attacked by all manner of colorful lights and sharp objects, and they always survive. Maybe the ice just took away all of Squall's hp, and they just used a phoenix down. It wasn't Sephiroth's sword, so I'm pretty sure Phoenix Down's still work.

I do remember the showdown between the two Gardens. I thought it disappeared shortly thereafter, but to be fair I haven't played through the game in years. I just remember not being able to find a garden at one point. So the possibility of my faulty memory leading me astray is there.

I read this a while ago and it does all make sense but like with anything if you Analyse things and fit things together you can pretty much come up with anything that sounds /Looks likes it makes sense

It actually reminds me of the TV series Lost where at the end people were thinking that Jack died when the plane crashed but obviously it was proved that wasn't the case

You are a fading dream, but one that has been touched by reality. Run, dream. Run on into the daylight. And walk into reality.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of this. I did kinda think that the story started to get weird after Squall got impaled. Especially with the space thing. I thought the space part was a little out there for it to be real. Then they wound up at that neon-looking city and I thought that was just freaky. That city looked like it had technology from about 500 years ahead of the time in the game. I think it made sense but I don't know if I'm ready to believe it yet.

I'll say it's just some sort of Ice-Elemental attack. That's it. That's all there is to it. Edea's Limit Break when she temporarily joins your party is an Ice attack. So, that being said, it's probably just a normal attack. And what BTowns said too, they could've just resuscitated him with a Phoenix Down. They did need him for the interrogation, am I right? lol

Well I just finished reading that site, and in my opinion, it's a lot of.... well, not so good things.

Just to draw something from the article:

"The first disc had a fairly high level of realism despite the fantasy and low sci-fi topics present. The characters were all human, and outside of “monsters” there were no unearthly creatures to be seen. Rinoa had a dog that attacks for her at times, as earthly dogs are known to do. But there weren’t any fluffy feline creatures running around yelling “Laguna! Laguna!”"

Aaaand just to jog a few memories,
-The first "Boss" is the demon god of Fire. With whom you use the Goddess of Ice and the Lightning Elemental Lord to fight.
-There's a T-Rex roaming the training portion of the Garden as early on as THE FIRST TIME YOU GO IN THERE!
-You use magic to syphon magic into yourself to make you stronger with the GFs.
To name a few hints of "realism."

I don't know what he was thinking, but none of these are a healthy part of "realism." It is called Final Fantasy for a reason. A Fantasy. Where anything is possible.

For all we know, the reason Squall didn't die at the end of Disc1 is because Edea, having fought off the Sorceress' control for a faint moment, decides to heal Squall with a Cure-based spell, in a surge of motherly love and compassion (because she was the orphanage's matron. can't raise children without some sort of affection)

So, to reiterate:
Squall's not dead, Rinoa, after seeing how much of a jerk Seifer could be, looses all interest in him and falls for Squall's strong will to protect and comfort her, Quistis desperately tries to not fall into the "TeacherXStudent" category, Irvine looses his stage fright, aaaand Selphie still likes trains and Zell wants more hotdogs.

Also Fujin and Raijun rule.

Artal : LOL Yes! I totally agree with you. The site just got an idea into their heads and went way overboard, ignoring every detail that didn't agree with their view of things. It was fun to read, an interesting idea, but crazier stuff happens in the first disc (like the giant moth man creature Elnoyle. Not very realistic lol) than hating the red cat guys can make up for.

BTowns : Exactly. In my opinion, the Moombas were there for several good reasons. They helped the team be able to connect with Laguna, and gave us player a nice break from that gritter part of the game.
That and they basically tried to replace moogles XD

Squall probably received medical attention by his comrades, second alot of things in video games don't make much sense.
